Dog walk with Oscar Julies Jaunts 2017-08-17 | It got very warm so we took shelter under some trees and played with his tennis ball without including running so he could rest a little! He is so sweet! If you see a yellow ribbon or indicator on a dog in public, assume they need space and keep your dog away completely or until you speak with their owner. A yellow ribbon means dog needs space bit they may be ok with certain dogs, healing from an op or being socialised in a controlled way so always ask first!

Farewell to Tegan & Ludo Julies Jaunts 2017-08-17 | This pair are moving house to the other side of the country so I popped round to say goodbye and give them one last big batch of my biscuit treats. I'm going to miss these guys so much, but their new home is a perfect haven for dogs so they will continue to have an amazing life with their mama, I'm just sad for selfish reasons I won't get to see that for myself. Someone left a chair in this area so I used it to make a mini gate to stop Mavis from getting out and then let her off lead. It's smaller than her garden so she was fine with it and amazed me with her quick fetch skills! She is such a clever little dog.

Dog walk with Doberman Boogie! Julies Jaunts 2017-08-04 | Boogie is a lovely senior girl. She has a problem with dogs so she wears a yellow ribbon to let people know she needs space but I let her have a long lead in certain areas when I can see there are no dogs nearby. It doesn't stop her looking for dogs though! She used to be so stressed outside she wouldn't take a treat from me at all. She couldn't eat on high alert but she will sit and enjoy a reward now which is so nice!

She is lovely and usually sits down often on her walks but having Freya meet us in the park had her full of beans and she wanted to be in front so she walked like this all the way home! She waits at roads perfectly too!

She used to do it all the time as a puppy but now she saves it for after a bath or wet walk towel dry. I did encourage it because it's just so funny so I got her zoomies on camera to share the laughter!
Wet Freya dog walk Julies Jaunts 2017-08-03 | Taking my girl out for a rare weekday walk with just us two. She doesn't give two hoots about some rain because I've always given her at least one walk a day, whatever the weather. She would go crazy if she didn't go outside to sniff and play ball daily! I threw the ball into these bushes by mistake and she went it after it and discovered a cool secret hideaway. I feel like this will be her new thing in this park!! She is such a darling, love my girl so much!

She usually doesn't eat it all but today I pretended to add treats and she would eat some, I'd pretend again, she'd eat some more! Empty park dog walk with Oscar Julies Jaunts 2017-08-03 | Oscar wears a yellow ribbon as he needs space from dogs he doesnt know but that was not an issue this week as the weather was wet and windy, meaning the park and playground was empty. I do feel bad for all the dogs that dont get to go out for walk in wet weather. Where do they all go when the weather is less than desirable? Oscar doesn't mind, he loves having the whole place to himself!
Rainy race on dog walk with wet whippets! Julies Jaunts 2017-08-03 | Bella and Lilly love a good run, even in the rain. The weather was horrible yesterday, I got so soaked but the girls don't seek.to mind it too much. Rant- This area of the viewpoint in Old Portsmouth is covered in pot holes. Some an inch deep but others are so large, you can put a football in it and it would be flush with the ground. These are so dangerous for humans but esspecially dogs that are permitted to use this area off lead. I know a dog yhat injured themselves and a dog walker fell in ine and broke her wrist so she had to take unpaid time off work. If your dog is a digger, that's natural but you should not allow your dog to create such significant holes and always, always fill them back in before you leave the area.
Dog walk around the shore with Border Collie Oscar Julies Jaunts 2017-08-03 | Oscar is a lovely dog. This is from last week as we walked around the coast line in Eastney having been through Bransbury Park. He loves different routes and terrains, anyrhing that makes him think! He isn't relaxed around dogs he doesn't know so we try and find quiet places like this so he can play with his ball without worry. Love him and his animated ears!

They walk together so well, in harmony without being too much. Rolo is a lot more confident with Freya testing out all new and approaching dogs!
My hello from Rolo dog Julies Jaunts 2017-08-03 | Rolo is always cosy and sleepy when I arrive and then once I put my bag down, he is full of energy and squeaks. He must have sensed my camera because he didn't do that so much on this occasion but he is still cute so I'm sharing this. And when I do get a more accurate video of his behaviour, I can post that as a comparison. He is such a lovely little doggo!
Arriving to walk Bradley the Boxer dog Julies Jaunts 2017-08-03 | Bradley stays in his crate when he is home alone, so when I arrive he usually has his bear in his mouth - of course not when I film it, but this is his excitement level when I get to him. We usually have a quick game of tug or fetch before I take him for a little stroll during my home visit and I always get at least one wet kiss. He is such a lovely boy!
Rolo dog socialising in silence! Julies Jaunts 2017-08-03 | Rolo is a miniature dachshund, he just turned 4 but he has a tendency to bark at bigger dogs like beagles, labs and staffies. He never does anything aggressive but if he is off lead, he finds it hard to stop the noise and of course dogs barking is an undesirable trait to us humans so we've been working on his social skills. He can still randomly bark at the older, non threat dogs, but he will now happily approach a group of dogs of varying sizes (all bigger than him!) And say hello without barking his little head off. Love this little one, he is such a character and this video makes me so proud of him!

Rolo sniffs Chester! Julies Jaunts 2017-07-26 | We've met Chester before but again, Rolo is being so much better around bigger dogs that I can now film him! He went up and sniffed Chester - then I threw Chesters ball for him which is why he ran off! His owner will always bring him over to meet Rolo now to help us with Rolo getting used to bigger dogs! It works!
Rolo the miniature dachshund meets more giants! Julies Jaunts 2017-07-26 | Rolo has an issue with some big dogs but I noticed that he tends to bark at big, dark coloured dogs so when I spotted these two black Labradors that I know are friendly and calm, I didn't walk off with Rolo. His tail got very straight and still but he didn't bark at either of these beautiful dogs! He can still bark unpredictably at dogs but he is so much better! If I can get to the dog and say hello, that usually helps Rolo to quiet and calm down - I'm his human shield!

Dogs have to be on lead but it doesn't say how long a lead can be so I have a 15ft lead for her. When I leave it all loose on the floor she runs about but when I am sensible and gather it all up like this, she walks like this! I used to worry something was wrong but now I know it's just an ism of hers! So cute!
Springer Spaniel Willow start of dog walk Julies Jaunts 2017-07-26 | Willow is nervous and likes to pull on her lead esspecially at the start of her walks. It used to be so bad, I couldn't film her. She still isn't walking perfect at the start of her walk yet but it's good enough for me to film and keep control of her. She is such a clever dog, I wish I could tell her I will never let anything hurt her outside but she does trust me which is an honour from such a selective and nervous pup!
Dog walking and beach cleaning with Whippets! Julies Jaunts 2017-07-26 | Bella and Lilly love this route. The tide is just at the right height to still get around to the funfair end of the beach so I take them this way. The grounds changing terrain to smooth paving, bumpy eroded paving, gravel, stones, sand and even seaweed forces the girls to engage with this area every time they walk through! The tide takes away, brings in and leaves new smells for the dogs but it also washes up rubbish. Anything plastic or not naturally on a beach (I leave driftwood) I take with me and put in the nearest bin. It isn't down to me or dog walkers to clean up areas like this but if 1 in every 10 dog walkers picked up the rubbish they walk by or step over, our favourite dog walking spots would be improved for it. Leave every area you use as you found it, or even better!

Miniature dachshund Rolo meets some giant dogs! Julies Jaunts 2017-07-26 | Rolo is a miniature dachshund and he does have a touch of Small Dog Syndrome! He can bark at dogs or strangers that make eye contact to see them off. He has drastically improved on this behaviour while we walk together to the point I can keep him off lead near big dogs and actually film this progress!Frasier, one of the greyhounds also has to bark at big dogs so he had a quick bark at Blue the Husky and Rolo ran off from the noise - I was introducing him to Blues owner, it wasn't him barking!
Frisbee at the beach on dog walk with Sonny Julies Jaunts 2017-07-25 | Sonny loves catching his frisbee! He isnt too keen on swimming so this was a good way to get him paddling to help keep him cool on a warm day! He has developed a habit of dropping the frisbee whenever he feels like, whixh from experience seems to be a border collie trait!! But as I was filming I just picked it up but we are working on his fetch. His ball fetch is flawless though!! Love this little man! He is 10 months old now!
Boxer Bradley walking with wet towel to stay cool Julies Jaunts 2017-07-25 | It was a hot day so I had a cold, soaked flannel on our walk. It's good to put on a dog if they are hot, if you're not near the sea or your dog isn't a fan of being sprayed with water. I tucked it in Bradley's collar and he noticed it and wasn't sure but he was fine with it! He is so good. And this is a very handy way to keep your dog cool on a warmer walk.

Dachshund Rolo on dog walk - cooling down a hot dog Julies Jaunts 2017-07-18 | Rolo hated this at the start of our walk but he started to like a cold damp flannel on him. Once he realised it wasn't water. He hates rain and being wet so spraying him or the ground is out, he would just run away and hate me so instead he gets water bowl breaks and shade and now a wet flannel. As you see he is quite happy just sniffing around with it on!
Freya loves the fountain Julies Jaunts 2017-07-18 | So Freya does this whenever we walk near the fountain now! She still needs my permission before jumping in which is good but I thought this whole thing was sweet enough to share! Freya is my dog and this was on my day off!
Hot dog Rolo cooling down Julies Jaunts 2017-07-18 | Rolo feels the heat but is not a fan of water. So I soak his flannel as leave it on his back and use it to wipe his paws and underbelly to prevent overheating. This is all on too of finding shade and having water regularly available throughout our walk. He didn't like this at first but he enjoys being wiped now!
3 dogs on a dog walk! Julies Jaunts 2017-07-17 | Martin and Maisie are very used to walking along togrther on their joint lead. My dog Freya (the brown terrier) only joins us when my husband comes along so he usually holds her lead but here is how they all walk together! So sweet!
More adventures with Mavis the teacup puppy! Julies Jaunts 2017-07-17 | Mavis is such a sweetie and each time I've visited her, she is more brave and confident! Watching her explore her world is brilliant, I love this little ones big character already!
Puppy Mavis sitting down during her dog walk Julies Jaunts 2017-07-17 | As my previous Mavis video explained, Mavis sometimes likes to just sit. It's a common puppy thing to do and I said I sound silly and excited while moving forward as far as the lead will allow without any pulling, to move stubborn dogs. I didn't have to do too much here which again is a great sign (training wise - for her age) but I wanted to share this video to document this behaviour and demonstrate what she does!
First walk with puppy Mavis Julies Jaunts 2017-07-17 | Mavis has a classic puppy trick under her belt already: sitting down whenever she likes! She did try it immediatepy after leaving home but I am happy to make myself look weird perhaps to some humans, but exciting and interesting to dogs by skipping, being a bit squeaky and generally excited to move forward. As soon as their bum is back off the ground - praise!! As soon as they move - praise!! All this praise is great so they keep following. Trust me, it works!! I had tiny treats split even smaller into 3 pieces for extra praise and reinforcement. The fact she sat when she heard her name was so cute but also brilliant (hence the treat) from a training point of view! Happy to say she did not sit down mid-walk once in here! I love spending time with this little cutie!!

It wasn't very long as I wanted to get her out incthe sun. She is so cute! She is 4 months old.

Dog walk with Willow on lead Julies Jaunts 2017-07-17 | Willow has walked to an area, played fetch and sniffed lots of interesting things and this is her walking home. Her lead is completely lose and she is making no attempt to change that. She is a nervous dog and impulsively pulls on her lead at times. Best ever on lead road walking stint with her - so proud!!
