He is a professional muralist from Innsbruck, Austria, who loves to create street art in abandoned places. We joined him in Northern Italy, where he painted on the premises of a former Cold War military base, and together we discussed if graffiti is art or vandalism. He told us about his middle school being abandoned and his idea to save the structure. So, Sketch organized a graffiti jam in his old home village and brought together street artists from different countries - the name of the event: Klassentreffen (school reunion) Festival. On a weekend in May 2022, 60 artists were breathing new life into the neglected school building.This was just the first big event here. An association was formed called "Eigentlich Kultur", aiming to build a social platform in the middle of the Austrian Alps. They want to make cultural interaction possible in this rural area by creating places and events where people meet. The abandoned school has a new purpose now. But the association needs funds to cover the expenses and keep this project running. Two weeks ago, we posted the original exploration episode. One building we entered in that video was still privately owned. That person made her lawyer contact us to tell us we had to take our video offline. To avoid any legal troubles, we decided to remove any footage showing the inside of that particular house.In southern Italy, there are countless ghost towns, only populated nowadays by animals and plants. But the place we explore in this video is different: after a disastrous earthquake decades ago, residents of Castelpoto collectively decided not to abandon their homes. They did not want to relocate, but they could not live in their ravaged homes either. So instead, they decided to build a new part of town - directly adjacent to the old ruins. Europes Abandoned Places | 9 Day Tour Broken Window Theory 2022-01-16 | Urban exploration: 9-day exploring tour of Europe's abandoned places (subtitles available) Episode #188In February 2017, we went on our biggest urbex road trip to that time: in a group of three (Marco, Till, and Cornelius), we traveled almost 3,000 kilometers to document 16 abandoned places in several European countries. We entered military prohibited zones, ventured deep underground, and got in trouble with the law - on several occasions. Five years ago, we already shared our experiences on YouTube in our very first urbex series. Now, in 2022, we decided to repost the old series as a feature-length documentary! For that, Till recorded a new voice-over and Marco gave the videos some polishing. This film now features all 16 episodes in a row (it is BWT season 1, so to say).
