This month Hamilton wanted a “fancy” and “ornate” display case for the complete Jenny line of bits. This is what I came up with….All mortise and tenon construction. I used 1/2” stock for the bit shelves and 3/4” stock for the top, bottom and sides. The 2 front pillars were also carved from 3/4” stock for the 3D relief of the Jenny bit. 2 Layer 3D Relief Carve Onefinity - Training, Tips and Tricks 2023-06-22 | Ive had several requests to show how to do a 3D relief using dissimilar woods to get a good contrast between the relief and background. This can also be done with 2D designs where an image or test is raised and carved from the top layer of wood, leaving the background layer of wood. Especially useful when making signs where painting isn't the best option.

Have had requests to see it in operation particularly as it relates to brush bending on deeper cuts. I’m using the 4” ported dustboot with a Shop Fox 1-1/2 hp Dust Collection system. The more I use the Nighthawk, the more I like it…and I’ve liked it a lot already!

Customer Project - 3D filigree heart shaped plaque Onefinity - Training, Tips and Tricks 2021-03-03 | Customer, Julian wanted a heart shaped plaque for his wife, Sandy. Sandy really likes filigrees and lilies and dark colors. Initially it was a bit of a challenge to get the filigree stl file and then engrave their name in it with an Angel number. Decided to leave a border around where the names would be engrave and lay down an stl file of filigrees between the outside border and the names. I wanted to get as much detail as possible on the filigrees so I used a 1mm ballnose bit to carve the contours. Great detail but the carve took almost 10 hours.

Used a 1mm dia ballnose bit but the finished product did not require any sanding whatsoever and the level of detail is incredible.
3D Carve on Onefinity CNC. - Eagle fishing Onefinity - Training, Tips and Tricks 2021-01-29 | In this 3D carve on the Onefinity CNC, a friend (Tommy P) suggested laminating 2 different boards together and set the carve depth to the same thickness as the top board - easy to do in Carveco Maker software - so that the carving really stands out. The design itself is a composition of two separate files, the eagle and the fish combined into one to give the appearance that the eagle is flying off with the fish. Materials used are 1/4” hickory on top of 3/4” Walnut. Thanks Tommy for the suggestion!

Onefinity 3D Carve - Elk on Walnut Onefinity - Training, Tips and Tricks 2021-01-23 | 3D carve of elk in walnut using my Onefinity cnc router. Took two 3d reliefs and combined them using Carveco Maker...one stl file of the elk and the other is the leaf frame. Overall size is 7” x 11”. 1/4” ballnose bit for roughing (normally would use endmill bit there were several small parts I was afraid would shear off) and 1/16” ballnose for finishing . Approximately 5 hour carve but the detail is spectacular.

Onefinity Add-Ons Wire Management Onefinity - Training, Tips and Tricks 2020-10-26 | Coiled power cord and drag chain added to Onefinity CNC router (Woodworker). Mounted controller to underside of table to help reduce amount of dust/chips from being sucked into fan on controller and added a usb hub to controller for easier access (hub is mounted on tablet support with Velcro for easy removal if necessary).
