Doctor Specialties by Enneagram TypeMed School Insiders2024-07-13 | What medical specialty is ideal for you based on your Enneagram type? Any personality type can find success in any specialty, but there are some very real factors that will make it more or less difficult for you.
Disclaimer: All personality tests have limitations, and we covered those scientific limitations in another video. This video is meant as a fun conversation starter and an exercise in better understanding your own strengths, weaknesses, and preferences. View the Enneagram as a non-scientific lens to better understand your own personal preferences.
The Enneagram is a personality assessment designed to help people understand their motivations, core values, and the unconscious patterns that influence their behavior. It breaks people down into 9 distinct Types:
- Type 1: The Reformer—Principles and a strong sense of right and wrong. - Type 2: The Helper—Love of people and a desire to be loved. - Type 3: The Achiever—A desire to succeed and be recognized. - Type 4: The Individualist—A need to be authentic, distinctive, and expressive. - Type 5: The Investigator—A thirst for knowledge and facts. - Type 6: The Loyalist—Security, loyalty, and deep connection. - Type 7: The Enthusiast—New experiences and living life to the fullest. - Type 8: The Challenger—Control and the freedom to make own decisions. - Type 9: The Peacemaker—Harmony and avoiding all conflict.

The AAMC introduced the PREview Professional Readiness Exam as a new situational judgment test for premeds.
The exam is much like Casper, but it is instead developed and administered by the AAMC. It takes 75 minutes and is a multiple choice exam that tests a student’s professionalism.
Since it’s quite new on the scene, it’s very possible you will not have to complete it in order to apply to medical school. In 2023, only 19 schools participated in the test. However, there is a chance future premeds or future residency applicants could be faced with it.
✍ If you need to take a situational judgment test, check out our Casper and PREview courses linked below:
