This was the result of being handed a Bolex camera with a faulty eyepiece by my university for a mandatory 16mm film project; since I couldn’t focus on anything properly, I decided to make failure the theme of the video.I handed this in for marks at art school back in 2015 - it was worth 30% of my grade for that class. I ended up getting an A on it and still don’t know how it’s possible.(This video was originally on tumblr and got almost 200,000 notes somehow! I’m putting it up cause I took my tumblr down and thought people might want to see it again)

This Multi Animator Project was originally planned to come out before Mapleshade’s Vengance was released, so the events leading up to (and including) Mapleshade’s death are not canon and should be treated as metaphorical more than anything. ☺Desperately trying to reunite herself with her kits in Starclan, I tried to imply that Mapleshade was sent to the dark forest for giving up on life, and only then did darkness consume her.I wrote the script after being inspired by the series’ first female villain; I hadn’t read Crookedstar’s Promise at the time of writing the script so that’s why Crookedstar doesn’t factor into it; in hindsight I should have included him but I didn’t feel comfortable representing a book I hadn’t read. I took inspiration from Mapleshade’s page in Warriors: The Ultimate Guide and her appearances in Omen of the Stars.The song is Marshal Dear by the Savages! I’m so unbelievably happy with how this turned out; everyone really gave it their all and put so much effort and feeling into their parts. I’m endlessly grateful for everyone’s hard work. Enjoy!
Ravenpaw - Free Translator (Warrior Cats PMV) Alli Kat 2015-01-28 | Here’s a tribute to Ravenpaw (my personal favourite Warriors character!) 17 artists got together to make this project; it’s my personal favourite project to date, and I’m so surprised and happy with how cohesive it came out. It chronicles the events of Into the Wild; Ravenpaw's fear of Tigerclaw and discontentment with clan life.This project just feels like a living picture book. This was my first time hosting a still-image-only collaborative project, (Usually called PMV – Picture Music Videos) and wow was it a great experience! The caliber of background art, emotion on the character’s faces, everyone went above and beyond with this project and I thank you all for working your butts off!! The autumn theme worked out so well!There were a couple bumps in the road as far as timing the parts went; I ended up merging a couple people's or changing the order around; I was careful not to cut anyone's animation short, but the order of things had to be mixed up a little to keep the timing right and avoid gaps in the video.I know the song (Free Translator by sound collage group The Books) may sound nonsensical to some, (the lyrics are meant to be gibberish, that’s why it’s called Free Translator) but I really thought the somber, soft, “rural” tone to the song really fit Ravenpaw and his choice of a quiet lifestyle. The Books are all about textures and emotion, so I thought it would be a good fit for a Warriors project. My 3rd Warriors MAP, and can I just say I am once again blown away by how far everyone who participated pushed themselves. I am so proud to say that I hosted this project; I think it’s the best MAP I’ve hosted so far, and I’m so happy that people were willing to do SO MUCH WORK to accomplish it!The song is “Joan of Arc” by Arcade Fire!This Multi Animator Project’s (MAP’s) concept was the female Medicine Cats of Thunderclan and their love/hate relationship with Starclan, along with the theme of “rough beauty.” The MAP is structured in 5 major parts:Parts 1-3 focus on the life and death of Spottedleaf.Parts 4-8 show Yellowfang leaving Shadowclan and forming a bond with Cinderpaw. Parts 9-11 form an interlude of Starclan sympathizing with the suffering of the Medicine Cats, and the Medicine Cats’ often-uneasy relationship with Starclan.Parts 12-14 showcase Cinderpelt’s accident and relationship to LeafpawParts 14-18 focus on Leafpool’s fears and shame about loving Crowfeather, and lying to her children.I believe that every single part in this MAP is nothing short of amazing; and the story came off very clearly and coherently.Some people’s parts were edited or cut short; the reason being that they didn’t bother to follow one (or more) of the MAP rules.To avoid questions about it, the French segment’s lyrics are: “You say you’re my judge, but I don’t believe you. You say I’m a saint, but that’s not me. I hear voices, but they aren’t me, I’m not Joan of Arc!”Enjoy the MAP!
Tribute to Warrior Cats - Fan Animation (Complete MAP) Alli Kat 2014-07-11 | I'm so happy to finally be able to upload this. I am totally baffled by the sheer amount of time and effort put in by every single animator in this MAP. Well done everyone! I've never seen anything quite like it in the Warriors animation community, and I could not ask for a better finished product. We've got a great fandom going on.This video is supposed to serve as a "trailer" for the Warriors book series by Erin Hunter. It focuses on many important aspects of clan life, and introduces the viewer to the themes and mood of the series. The video is essentially spoiler-free, as many of the cats are nondescript stand-ins. This is a collaboration between around 22 amateur animators!The song is Untitled #2 by Ty Segall.The voices are taken from the official Warrior Cats website's "make your own trailer" feature, and the commercial for Warriors: The Ultimate Guide. About halfway into editing, I decided they'd add a little something to the project.The MAP's second part (technically "part 1", cause Ashie Animation's part was the Intro) was done ridiculously quickly, so it may look a little rough. Someone dropped out at the very last minute, and I had promised I'd have the video up before the day was over. Appletail TV, Senpuppy and I all did a bit of the part, and it took us 3 hours from start to finish.
Reflektor - Warrior Cats MAP *COMPLETE* Alli Kat 2014-05-19 | It's finally here, and I think it was worth the wait! I'm super happy with this MAP; even though the "Experimental" element to the project was lost with some parts, the resulting product is still better than I ever could've hoped! It was fun pushing the fandom to its limit, and getting people to step outside of their comfort zone in regards to animation techniques.The prompt for this MAP instructed each animator to add an unusual element to their part; they were encouraged to stay away from ordinary 2-D digital animation and try a new approach. There are so many fantastic new styles and techniques in this MAP; many of which are firsts for Warrior Cats animation!The song is Reflektor by Arcade Fire. I had to add/remove certain elements of parts in order to fill gaps, so if your part has been altered, I apologize and hope you understand.Victoria Holmes contacted me in response to this MAP! WOTF Bluestars Prophecy AMV - Gravity of Love Alli Kat 2010-02-07 | This is a tribute animation I made for the book Bluestar's Prophecy by Erin Hunter; my favorite Warriors book. :) Song: Gravity of Love by Enigma Time taken: 5 months Animated with: Corel Painter X, Final Cut Express THANK GOD IT'S FINISHED. DX This one was a lot of work, but I'm pretty happy with it in the end. :) I tried to take all the major events from Bluestar's Prophecy and mash them into one 5 minute video... x__x (I'm telling you... I'm NEVER animating snow again! xD) The inspiration for this AMV came from a Lion King video I watched in Grade 4, using this same song. It moved me so much, I knew I had to create something with "Gravity of Love", and so here we are, 6 years later. :) About 2/3rds of the way through the video, I began to use a tablet.
