Shiny Beldum in Pokemon Emerald after 30,180 soft resets via Battle Video method! Sonikks 2022-04-23 | The Battle Frontier is a colossal undertaking for anyone but I want to go one further and take it on with a team of full odds shinies. Shiny Beldum is the first member of my team after a whopping 30,180 soft resets. I used the Battle Video method for this hunt which is explained in the intro but it allowed me to continuously progress through new frames until I hit a shiny frame. I didn't think it would take that long!The obvious point to note is yes, obviously this is an easier hunt in Ruby and Sapphire with a working battery but I personally like to hunt things on the save file they're going to be used on. It's just a preference. Steven Stone's Beldum passed to me (Steve) in my childhood copy of Emerald. Pretty cool if I say so myself. Shiny Ninetales in Pokemon White 2 after 2,095 Rustling Grass encounters Sonikks 2023-08-28 | One of the best shinies I've ever found. Simply put. Absolutely ectastic that I found this. The silver and blue combination are incredible. After only 3 phases with two shiny Audino, I can't really ask for better than that. The actual phase luck for this quest has been very good. Two 20% targets after 3 phases each is quite good.Enjoyed this hunt a lot but I'm happy it's done. I don't think there's much reason to hunt here in the future unless it's for the single or double grass targets.Thanks for watching as always!
Shiny 4% Seadra in FireRed after 13,604 fishing encounters! Sonikks 2023-08-25 | Phase 1 for 40% Qwilfish is a beautiful rare 4% Shiny Seadra! I went into this hunt absolutely convinced I'd find one of these so I'm not totally surprised. It just seems that fishing hunts in FireRed/LeafGreen like to give you either this Seadra or the 15% Gyarados. A really cool shiny to find in the wild especially in Gen 4 considering how low % it appears. The deep blue is a very nice colour. Hopefully 40% Qwilfish isn't too far away on phase 2. Shiny Aipom in Emeralds Safari Zone after 11,048 random encounters + Shiny Fail Sonikks 2023-06-28 | Two Shiny Aipom from this year's Safari Week. Caught one and failed one. I can't believe I caught the first one I saw. Aipom has a 45 catch rate and a 15% chance to flee so I'm incredibly blessed to have caught the first one I saw. Some people I've known have struggled big time with this target for a while. It came on my new German copy of Emerald which is helping me learn the language. Very pleased with this find though I'm sure as the years go by and I target the more difficult to find stuff like Pineco and Hoothoot that I'll see plenty of these. 5% Shiny Miltank in Emeralds Safari Zone after 1,328 random encounters! + Shiny Fail Sonikks 2023-06-27 | A fail and a reclaim. 2022 I found the first shiny Miltank which was my first 5% find in this area. She sadly fled after 5 balls but I knew I would reclaim her one day. Despite it being a tough catch, because of Hoenn's universal 15% to flee for all Pokemon, Miltank is only a 1/3 to catch which really isn't that bad. Hoenn Safari is easy mode compared to Kanto's Chansey, Kangaskhan and Tauros. I mentioned this is in the video but this was a hunt I was somewhat dreading. Miltank can be repel tricked to 100% but it's painfully slow so to box the 5% off my living dex is a very big boost. Seriously happy with this find and it has given me a massive motivational boost to continue getting some of the Gen 3 rares in the Safari Zone over the next few years. My LUCKIEST Safari Week yet! - Safari Week 2023 Compilation Sonikks 2023-06-16 | What a week. I had a very ambitious goal of catching at least one of the rares in the Hoenn Safari this Safari Week but I did not expect to see two, nevermind catch them both!I really wanted to get at least Snubbull, Pineco or Hoothoot this year. They're incredibly rare in Gen 3 and to get one of them out of the way for my living dex is huge. I made substantial progress this week, crossing the 100 barrier out of 386 for my dex. Shiny Lairon in Emerald after 17,535 random encounters Sonikks 2023-02-14 | My 94th unique shiny for my Gen 3 Living Dex - LaironI decided to target this beautiful shiny in Emerald's Victory Road (BF1) with a level 40 repel trick combined with Magnet Pull. The encounter rate drops quite a bit but White Flute helps out. I mixed it up between the encounter styles whether to bunny hop or bike normally. Bunny hopping is slower but the hunt becomes more mindless. The entire Aron line have amazing shinies. I hunted one for my Ruby DTQ a few years ago but I couldn't pass up this opportunity to get one of the line in the middle stage. Very fun hunt but keep in mind it knows Roar and Hariyama knows Whirlwind. It's a tricky area to hunt in. Thanks for watching as always. Hunting EVERY Shiny Starter - Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire Sonikks 2023-01-02 | As part of my Gen 3 Shiny Living Dex, I decided to hunt another set of the Hoenn Starters in Ruby and Sapphire. These are some of the quickest and funnest full odds hunts you can do so if you haven't tried them yet, I highly recommend you do despite the Poochyena possibility. Shiny Vulpix in Pokemon Silver after only 119 random encounters (Fire Monotype #2) Sonikks 2022-12-26 | Finally. That's the word. Only 119 encounters on the 9th phase, Shiny Vulpix finally appeared. This hunt has dominated my schedule for the past 6 months. I never even began to imagine how many phases this would take. Despite it being 37.5% with a repel trick, I ended up finding 8 Shiny Pidgey in a row. Nine phases for Ninetales though...Sometimes RNG is cruel but it's so worth it. Both of these shinies are incredible and I'm super glad to finally add them to my collection. I feel like Ninetales is a shiny/Pokemon that people just love overall. It's so elegant looking and really captures that Gen 1 nostalgia for me. I always used to use it on my team as a kid so it's nice to have one in Silver for my Fire Monotype challenge. The Shiny Pidgey Saga - Pokemon Silver Sonikks 2022-12-24 | While hunting Vulpix for my Fire Monotype Challenge through Silver, I got just a little unlucky with my phase luck. 8 Shiny Pidgey in a row. The hunt for Vulpix looked simple enough being a level 13 repel trick during the Day to make it 37.5% instead of 10%. Pidgey is 50%, Vulpix is 37.5% and Stantler is 12.5%. Shiny Roaming Mesprit in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond after only 849 resets Sonikks 2022-11-12 | My 18th shiny roamer, Mesprit in Brilliant Diamond. I completed my Roamer Quest last year but obviously with the inclusion of these games, I kinda had to hunt them too. They are the first time we're able to shiny hunt roamers at 1/4096 which is unique I guess. I found that the marking map is slower to refresh than in the originals. It feels like the refresh rate is lower than the main screen. It meant I had to pause a second before reloading the area. Just found it an interesting comparison to the originals. Almost 2 weeks of farming, trading via Pokemon Box to then deposit the Premier Balls in FireRed. An absolutely unnecessary extra piece of work but very worth it. Shiny Mewtwo caught in a Premier Ball - You only really need to hunt it once, so why not make it extra interesting!I was surprised this shined so quickly. I really felt like it would be a long one for some reason. Sometimes you just have a feeling about a hunt and I thought it'd go to 20,000+ but apparently not. Shiny Regidrago in Pokemon Sword after 6,445 resets Sonikks 2022-11-01 | A little later than most but this hunt but I think it's a neat shiny, so decided to give what will likely be a last hurrah to Gen 8. I really like a lot of the Gen 8 Pokemon designs but I didn't overly enjoy hunting in this generation. I have quite large hands so joycons aren't very comfortable. I do have a Pro Controller but it's hard to hunt using it as well hunting in the sprite games. I have some good memories of this generation but I don't think it's one that I will come back to very often outside of maybe Dynamax Adventures here and there. It just wasn't for me, and that's fine. Shiny Kyogre in Pokemon Sapphire after 4,941 soft resets Sonikks 2022-10-20 | The 2nd box art legendary shiny obtained! I found Groudon last year in my Ruby DTQ file. I thought this would be a very fitting way to officially end my Water Monotype challenge through Sapphire. Love this shiny. I decided to Masterball it as I have so many of them in Gen 3 at this point. It's the only ball in Gen 3 that matches it imo. I could have gone for Premier but I think it's a little too focused on the pink for it match despite the red and white colours too. A really cosy hunt to be honest. I enjoyed this hunt a lot. It was nice to find something that was 100% again as I'm phasing like mad in Gen 2 for Vulpix. Shiny Clamperl in Pokemon Sapphire after 9,393 Sweet Scent Encounters (Water Monotype #6) Sonikks 2022-09-30 | The final member of my Water Monotype Challenge in Sapphire! Shiny Clamperl. I literally couldn't have asked for a better way to finish this quest. Relicanth first phase doing the repel trick and then Clamperl first phase after using Sweet Scent. Perfect. Very happy to have finished this quest off. It wasn't tough but more, tedious. Two fishing encounters & the Relicanth repel trick but as my collection grows, hunts will become harder. Shiny Dunsparce in Pokemon FireRed after 3,031 random encounters Sonikks 2022-09-28 | Probably one of the most forgotten places in FireRed/LeafGreen - Three Isle Port. These patches of grass open up after the main story to give you 100% Dunsparce. It's a neat little area with a bit more than meets the eye. For some reason, the encounter rate is very slow here. It's actually the same speed as Underwater in Hoenn. Talking with a few fellow shiny hunters, the theory is that it was to try to promote the Pokemon's rarity. Dunsparce is an otherwise rare Pokemon in most games so I believe this is probably true. Fortunately, Sweet Scent is quite cosy. It's a tiny bit more work in FR/LG because they moved the field moves to below the summary. A tiny annoyance but it's fine once you get used to it. Dunsparce is a really nice shiny. A very simple change that I like a lot. Blue to pink, classic. Another near little hunt boxed off. Shiny Starmie in Pokemon White 2 after 7,998 Rippling Water encounters Sonikks 2022-09-16 | One of the coolest shinies I've ever found in the wild. I've had this on my radar for quite some time now and to finally box it off is quite special. Starmie is one of my all-time favourite Pokemon and its shiny is S tier. I can't get enough of these wild evolved shinies in Gen 5. They're very special. On the third phase with a total of 30,148 encounters and an average of 10,049 per shiny for this target. I'd much rather get a 20% on the third phase and have the average be higher than it should be. Very lucky!I'm not sure which will be the next target, possibly Ninetales but maybe not. I really like this shiny and despite it being a reset target in Black and White, you don't see it all that often. I personally prefer the female form for this line though I'm not complaining.This shined on the very last encounter of the night. I was ending at 13,500 and amazingly it appears then. Shiny Relicanth in Pokemon Sapphire after 3,485 random encounters (Water Monotype #5) Sonikks 2022-09-10 | Shiny Relicanth, first phase, underodds. Gaming. I can't believe I got this amazing shiny first phase. I don't think I've had a reaction like that before. I think I was more shocked at finding the shiny first phase than the shiny itself. This is in my opinion one of the best shinies in the series. It's incredible. I think this repel trick has been massively overrated in terms of difficulty. I really, really don't think it's as slow as people suggested to me. It was 50-60 encounters an hour if that's any help. I'm now able to drop the repel trick so I can just do normal sweet scent encounters for Clamperl which I've already started hunting. Shiny Bagon in Pokemon Sapphire after 10,507 random encounters (DTQ #6) + 2 Shiny Golbat Sonikks 2022-08-17 | The finale of my Sapphire Dream Team quest - Shiny Bagon! He appeared after 2 Shiny Golbat on the third phase. I'm delighted to add this shiny to my collection. The entire Bagon line are classic Hoenn Pokemon that I think we all love using. My only real complaint is the fact you need 8 badges to access this hunt (requires Waterfall). It's a shame it's not available earlier. Really pleased this didn't take too long. This hunt can be quite cruel to certain hunters so I'm glad to have been lucky with my phasing here. This quest is now complete and another Elite 4 video will be on the way soon. Completing Pokemon FireRed with my Shiny Team - Elite 4 Round 1 & 2 Sonikks 2022-08-03 | The final part of my FireRed Dream Team Quest is here. Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are among my favourite Pokemon games & I feel like this team is probably the best I've put together yet. Shiny Corphish in Pokemon Sapphire after 9,039 fishing encounters(Water Monotype #4) Sonikks 2022-07-24 | My third Hoenn fishing hunt done in the space if 3-4 months. A very underappreciated and underrated shiny in any game imo. Shiny Corphish has been on my radar for a while. I actually did around 100 encounters for it way back in 2015 and stopped to focus on something else. You could say this hunt has been 7 years in the making!I'm really, really proud of the successful fishing hunts I've managed to finish off this year. These hunts are notorious for being quite annoying. I won't claim they're easy but personally, I don't think they're as bad as many say. They're actually quite pleasant to hunt alongside something else which was quite surprising. That said, I am glad to be done with fishing hunts for a while in Hoenn. I do have many more targets in these games to fish up so we will see when I go for those. Next up is Relicanth and Huntail. A very slow repel trick underwater at 50/50 each. I love most sprites for Chansey but this is a really, really good one. She looks so happy. She put up a tough fight when trying to catch her but it was a 23% overall with a Friend Ball. Shiny Carvanha in Pokemon Sapphire after 2,442 fishing encounters (DTQ #5) Sonikks 2022-07-06 | The 5th member of my Sapphire Dream Team Quest was a much needed and appreciated underodds Carvanha! This is an absolute S Tier shiny in my opinion. I say in the video a few times that it's a shame to have to evolve it but it only fuels the desire to return and get another one day. I love Sharpedo's shiny too but the Carvanha is just so good. Very happy this was underodds and it kind of needed to be with the amount of times I went overodds for the Ralts phase. Fishing encounters in Hoenn aren't the easiest so I'm glad it was a simple hunt all things considered. Pretty happy to have done three Hoenn fishing hunts in the span of a few months. 11 Shinies in the Safari Zone - Pokemon Emerald, Ruby & FireRed/LeafGreen - Safari Week 2022! Sonikks 2022-06-27 | This year for Safari Week 2022, I decided to switch things up. It’s no secret that I have put a lot of time and effort into Kanto with a successful attempt to catch a Shiny Safari Chansey. This year though, I took a boat to Hoenn in search of the rarer Johto shinies in Emerald’s extensions as well as a few games in Ruby to try for Girafarig. I had every intention of seeing out the week in Hoenn but half way through, I was struck by a mysterious, green, energy that gave me motivation after seeing a few fellow shiny hunters find my next Kanto Safari target. My RAREST Shiny Yet! - Shiny Jirachi in Pokemon Ruby after 7,693 resets Sonikks 2022-06-09 | A shiny I never thought I'd get legitimately - Shiny Jirachi from the US Colosseum Bonus Disc!!! This is easily in my top 5 shinies found, easily. I'm so happy to add this to my collection. I love the pink hue on the body, it looks incredible. There was always a lot of doubt about whether this could be hunted or not. I feel like we've made a lot of progress in recent years as to what is attainable and who knows what else there is to discover. I've had this bonus disc for the best part of a decade now and I have used Jirachi several times in casual playthroughs. It's very broken but very fun. This shiny is #1 for my new Ruby Dream Team Quest. I'm sure there will be a lot of questions about this method. So feel free to comment on my video or The Domination's videos for assistance. I initially started this hunt with the standard method of playing through the game and getting the dex. I did around 500 encounters with it but being honest, it was like pulling teeth. I only single hunt my targets so I wanted to try the faster method. I also wanted to avoid an uncatchable as I can't stand the concept of uncatchable shinies. Shiny Pineco in Pokemon Black 2 after 5,779 random encounters (Swarm) Sonikks 2022-04-22 | Another Swarm target ticked off. I found this Shiny Pineco on stream and the third hunt in a row on this Black 2 underodds! Huge fan of this Pokemon, always thought it was super cute. The colouring is really nice, almost a golden bronze look to it. I don't mind Forretres but I'm all about Pineco. I forgot to include the encounter table but this is a 100% repel trick from level 25 onwards! I used a level 42 Golduck as a lead though and it wasn't that much slower. I've been having a ton of fun with these Swarm hunts in Gen 5 and still have a few more before I return to my quests. Shiny Masquerain in Pokemon Black 2 after ONLY 467 random encounters (Swarm) Sonikks 2022-04-18 | Another super quick hunt! After going to 30,000 for Beldum in Emerald, RNG decided to bless me with a 3 in 24 hour hotstreak. This has been on my "to hunt" list for quite some time now and I finally got around to doing it. I saw YourFriedBread find it a number of years ago and knew I had to find it for myself. Masquerain has always been a super interesting Pokemon to me. I didn't even know it existed until my 3rd playthrough of Ruby back in the day after getting the Surskit swarm randomly. It's usually a 1% encounter and just uncommon in most games future games. It's not that useful despite having the Intimidate ability. It's a really, really nice shiny though. Shiny Ariados in Pokemon Black 2 after 1,373 random encounters (Swarm) Sonikks 2022-04-17 | Truly one of the best shinies out there. Long term subscribers will know that I have one already in Gen 4 but there is no such thing as too many Shiny Ariados. I noticed a distinct lack of Gen 5 Swarm videos on Youtube. It's a real shame because there are something special. A lot of very unique and interesting targets. I decided to set up a few games as my side hunts while hunting Cyndaquil in Silver. I had some very good luck over 2-3 days. Shiny Nidorina in Pokemon SoulSilver! after ONLY 58 random encounters (Current fastest hunt) Sonikks 2022-04-16 | You can't really expect a shiny at any point given the randomness but I was not expecting a new fastest hunt. Shiny Nidorina after a mere 58 random encounters. I was hunting for Swarm Chansey as a side hunt while making some progress with my current quests and this girl showed up. You don't see this line all that often in Gen 4, it tends to be a popular find in Gen 3 with the Safari Zone. I really like the entire line and I am not complaining at all. This was phase 1 for Shiny Swarm Chansey. Hopefully she doesn't take 50,000 now that I have a super quick hunt on this file. Shiny Cyndaquil in Pokemon Silver after 2,045 soft resets (Fire Monotype #1) Sonikks 2022-04-14 | A new quest begins! A fantastic start to this challenge with a Shiny Cyndaquil coming way under odds. Gen 2 Cyndaquil is a really unique colouring which I'm sad they didn't continue with. The entire line looks fantastic. I'm doing this quest as a small race with several friends to see who finished first. It's amazing to be using my original Silver cartridge to hunt on after all these years. -----------------------------------------------------------I mention in the video but I will write it here for clarity. Female starters cannot be shiny in Generation 2 so simply reset at the nickname screen if the Pokemon chosen is female. You can also optimise the hunt further by resetting or not when you see the HP value. Cyndaquil is only capable of being shiny if it has a HP value of 18 or 19. If it's 20 (the only other variable), it cannot be shiny due to how shinies are determined in Gen 2. This is also the case for the other starters but with different HP values to consider; Chikorita (Reset if Female): 19, 20Cyndaquil (Reset if Female): 18, 19Totodile (Reset if Female): 20Only these values can produce a shiny. I mentioned in the intro that I wasn't planning to play too much attention to other hunts at the side but I did find more often than not, I could quickly glance at the HP stat before resetting. It's not as difficult to monitor as you might think. Furthermore, you can further optimise your hunt by placing your character in the position shown in the video. If you face directly upwards to the table, your character will need to move towards Professor Elm to further the dialogue. Shiny Ralts in Pokemon Sapphire after 25,200 random encounters - 100,181 total (DTQ #4) Sonikks 2022-03-13 | After 8 phases and a total of 100.181 encounters, Shiny Ralts joins my Sapphire Dream Team Quest! Overjoyed to add this one to my Gen 3 collection. It's undeniably a gorgeous shiny and the sprites are so elegant. I think just about everyone can resonate with Ralts in Gen 3 as most people during play throughs would pick one up. I knew this one would be a challenge especially so early in the game but for the most part, this hunt wasn't too bad. The repel trick makes it 10% instead of the base so an average of 10 phases opposed to 25 is a very good increase making it 2.5x more likely to encounter a Ralts. The main drawback for my luck during this hunt was that the phases were quite long. Double odds three times and a few average to short hunts thrown in to give me an average of 12,523 per shiny. I did manage to get Ralts under 10 phases which was the one hope for this hunt. Phase 1 - Lotad after 31,366Phase 2 - Wurmple after 8,330Phase 3 - Zigzagoon after 1,838Phase 4 - Lotad after 10,516Phase 5 - Zigzagoon after 9,261Phase 6 - Wurmple after 13,181Phase 7 - Poochyena after 489Phase 8 - Ralts after 25,200A total of 100,181 encounters.Bunny hopping made this hunt a little slower than it could have been but as I like to playthrough my games with my shinies, I didn't want to get Super Repels in Fallarbor Town which is the earliest possible way outside of trading. [LIVE] Shiny Barboach after 7,232 fishing encounters in Sapphire (Water Monotype #3) Sonikks 2022-03-11 | An incredibly rare shiny in Gen 3 despite being 100% in most places, Shiny Barboach after yet another under odds hunt in this file. This is an extremely underrated shiny in my opinion & Whiscash is really nice. I've used this line on a playthrough before and they're quite useful. Yet another rare Gen 3 shiny added to my collection. The Super Rod mechanics are the main reason why this is quite under hunted but like with most hunts, you do get used to it. Once I found something to watch alongside this hunt, it really wasn't too bad at all. [LIVE] Shiny Wingull after 6,720 surfing encounters in Sapphire (Water Monotype #2) Sonikks 2022-02-23 | The second member of my Water monotype challenge of Sapphire shines after 6,720 REs! Shiny Peecko joins Mudkip in being underodds. Every hunt on this file has so far been underodds so long may that continue please. I found a shiny Wingull in Platinum a number of years ago so it's nice to have one in its original generation. I was quite surprised how much the colour of the body stood out to me more than the green. I went into this hunt fully focused on the green wings though that wasn't what caught my eye. [LIVE] Shiny Gen 1 Zapdos in Yellow after only 665 soft resets (+ Stadium 2 showcase) Sonikks 2022-02-11 | Gen 1 Shiny Zapdos appears after a super quick hunt. Only 665 resets for the first of the trio. Gen 2 Zapdos is super vibrant and changes a lot more than in later Gens.This was on my childhood copy of Yellow too which is always amazing to use for shiny hunting. This game was what got me into Pokemon, period.I'll probably hunt the other two Legendary Birds at a later point this year.Thanks for watching!
Random Shiny Hisuian Qwilfish... Sonikks 2022-01-29 | I say I was hunting but I wasn't, lol. Just randomly found this playing through the game. I literally just got Basculegion, hopped in the water, heard the sparkles and boom, my first shiny in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
[LIVE] Shiny Stunky after 8,229 random encounters in Brilliant Diamond + Evolution Sonikks 2022-01-27 | Another team member joins the ranks! Shiny Stunky was my 2nd target here though I didn't really expect to get it. Bronzor was 55% so there was essentially a coin flip chance to phase. You can't complain at picking up a Diamond exclusive Pokemon. The encounter rate in Wayward Cave with Mira is awful, truly awful. If you don't believe me, try it yourself with an Illuminate Pokemon leading. I was doing almost a third more just single hunting in the grass. [LIVE] Shiny Excadrill after 10,154 seen in White 2s Reversal Mountain Sonikks 2022-01-25 | An exceptionally amazing hunt, I highly recommend this one. If I'm being honest, this hunt alone sparked this quest idea entirely. I've had this hunt on my "to do" list for a long, long time. The first time you visit the mountain, Bianca will team up with you to give you double encounters. You can also do this with Cheren in Pinwheel Forest for some amazing targets in the post-game. Excadrill is one of my all-time favourite Pokemon. I love the shiny too. Delighted to add this to the quest. It's a fun one because you're able to only use Exploring Power 3 and not Lucky Power 2 as Excadrill is 100%. You don't reset as often to keep your Pass Orbs. I highly recommend you try this if you fancy going for a Pass Power Pokemon. The only annoying thing is the Shards but it can't be helped. Thanks for watching as always!
