Why Acceptance is the Greatest Creative Lesson Athena and Ryan 2025-03-05 | Hello! Welcome to art vlog 7! Ryan and I continue to paint our big canvas projects. After delicious coffee and a quick trip to the art store, we start oil painting. Here we run into road blocks, spurts of inspiration, and new ideas (yummy ramen with friends too!). The big creative lesson we learned was that art projects are constantly evolving (And that's 100% okay!). Art is sometimes an extremely emotional process and therefore inherently personal and even vulnerable. In this art vlog, we learn the value of making mistakes but also the acceptance of the artistic journey. In any creative act, we should always welcome acceptance as a way to set goals and maintain a healthy relationship with our artwork. Why You Should Make Art with Your Heart Athena and Ryan 2025-01-20 | Hello, Hello, also, hello! Today we begin two new paintings, but most importantly, two new passion projects. We're both jumping in with oils, and working with inspiration from our favorite painters. Mine being Georges Rochegrosse and his piece, Knight of the Flowers. Ryan's being Thomas Cole, as well as Frederic Edwin Church. That said, these are going to be big projects, so this is just part one of our new painting journey. Today Ryan and I had ourselves an artist recharge day! An important day that I believe every artist should have after a big canvas painting, ceramic sculpture, or crochet plushie project. Whatever your creative artistic medium remember to prioritize your artistic needs and don't fall into the trap of artist burnout (pls don't). Im Working on Saying Yes and Now Im Creating Better Art Athena and Ryan 2024-11-27 | A lot of us struggle with the word, and more so the idea of 'YES.' We get stressed out, demotivated and tired, but life happens when we embrace the word and get out of our comfort zone. This week I said yes to quite the challenge, creating a BIG painting in just five days time. This was only my second time working with oil paints and it certainly had it's trials. However, in the end I was so grateful I did say yes, step out of my comfort zone, and made something for my Dad.
