mep part collection #19 rootbeerwolfdog 2020-01-01 | HAPPY NEW YEAR!! i have been editing next to nothing lately, i haven't really had the motivation to get on my laptop cuz of depression and work and traveling to california for a week, which was really fun despite my declining mental health. but it's the new year now, and i'm gonna try to take care of myself and my brain. i didn't really put "start editing more" as one of my resolutions because i figure if inspiration strikes, i'll edit, but i won't force myself. that's what's ruined this hobby for me in the past.anyway enough rambling, this is all the MEP parts i've done since my last collection which i think was in like mid october? not a very long collection but i'm honestly relieved about that cuz i had to render this like a day ago when i realized i still had to stick to my tradition of uploading collections on new years day, and i would not have liked sitting thru a 2 hr video render.i'm pretty proud of everything here. some of it is lame cuz i wasn't inspired, but i pushed thru just to get the parts turned in. a lot more live action than usual, which i'm happy about. i really like the first part in this collection, "sober" for sarge's MEP (tysm for letting me take part!). i'm not so fond of the last part in this collection, but that's mostly because the movie i picked ("archie's final project") has only bad quality copies online and it was just... a bad movie choice hahamy favorite parts in this collection are definitely my "rory" parts for rachenna77's MEP, which i am SUPER hyped for and can't wait til it's done. foxing are my favorite band and rory is such an emotional song, i put as much effort as possible into making my parts emotional and matching the beats and theme. i still think i could've done better tho, haha. i was thinking of uploading all of my parts as their own video but then decided not to cuzzz lazy, but i still might. who knowsanyway this has been kind of a long description so i'm gonna end it here. as always, too lazy to list all of these MEPs/songs/artists/hosts, so if you have a question about a particular part just ask and I can answer it for you/link the MEP :)happy new year everybody, let's kick 2020's ass
AWFUL THINGS rootbeerwolfdog 2019-11-17 | tw: violence, death, physical/sexual abuse, homophobiait's been a while since i've edited just to edit, especially for live action. i didn't really have a point in mind for this video, i just really wanted to edit to as you are and kill your darlings, and later i decided to also use the butterfly effect and eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, cuz i didn't want to fetishize gay couples only or whatever? idk. i also normally don't edit to mainstream music, but i have a soft spot for this song and a few others by lil peep and the idea has been stuck in my head for a bit so i decided to do it. i started last night and finished today which is very quick for methis is incredibly raw and has a lot of voice overs, a type of video i don't try a lot but i felt like it fit for this song. i messed with the song, added some reverb and pitched it down a bit, for aesthetic and also to avoid copyright. some of the voice overs are a bit hard to hear since the characters are whispering, but i tried my best to make them all audible and not sound ugly. i also added no effects or coloring cuz it didn't rly need it. i contemplated adding text but then decided not to.these are 4 of my favorite movies! as you are and kill your darlings are just amazing films. wonderful characters, cast, soundtrack, emotional and perfect. eternal sunshine is also a wonderful movie with amazing music that i love, and the butterfly effect, while definitely being very dark, is a favorite as well. i need to edit more live action videos just for the sake of editing, focusing on multiple movies instead of one. i'd dare say this is a vent of sorts which is fun to do with something besides animash. also i can be more sexually explicit with humans. i wanted this to focus mostly on the relationship between the 4 sets of characters, but other topics come into play. fear of being gay in lucien/allen and mark/jack's case, abuse and trauma from the past when it comes to evan and kaylee, and the relationship generally turning sour for joel and clementine. i know nobody will really get this video but that's okay.well, there's really nothing more to say, hope people like this but i really made it for me. this description is kind of shittily written, it was supposed to make a lot more sense but i forgot what i was gonna say sooalso i'm gonna write down all the voice overs here since i know they're hard to hear0:00 - "i've been thinking a lot about..."0:05 - "go be you now all by yourself, and leave me alone." common cold. {copper} rootbeerwolfdog 2019-11-11 | tell the furniture to take off their costumesi'm sick and tired of feeling empty in a crowded roombeing claustrophobic never felt so selfish.---just let it be known that i really hate this video after the first 30 seconds, and i really, really hate it at the 50 sec mark. it starts out really good and i liked it when i started working on it, but then i ran out of ideas and now i'm just sick of working on it and i wanna get rid of it, so deal with the fact that it goes from good to shitty lmaoi really just wanted to make a video that focused more on copper. i absolutely love tod and relate to him immensely (duh), but copper is a very overlooked character in the fox and the hound. he's honestly very complex and his dilemna, having to choose between his childhood friendship with tod and his new career as a hunting dog and the approval of chief and amos is a really striking conflict that is very mature for a kids' movie. i found that this song fits tod and copper, especially copper, very well.as you can see, i experimented a lot with small bouts of effects and text in this, and i'm actually very proud of how the text came out, especially for "i've tried before/try again". i kind of had copper and tod as the two "voices" in the song, tod trying to convince copper to hold out hope for their friendship, and copper holding strong to his pessimism. i wanted to add more text but i'm lazy, ahaha. also yesterday was conor murphy's birthday (the lead singer of foxing) so hbd conor! i don't really listen to tiny moving parts all that much but i adore this song cuz conor's in it, i wouldn't have come up with the back and forth conversation style of this video if not for the fact the song has 2 vocalists.i hope you all enjoy even though this video becomes garbage about halfway through. hopefully the next thing i upload isn't half assed and actually has decent effort put into it. i'm kind of going through a depressive slump right now even though it doesn't really matter---song: in the videomovie: in the videoprogram: SV pro 13time taken: 6-7 hrs altogether?---

'cause i'm desperate here, several steps from the edge. i can see you burn bright and i'm cold and i'm left alone. we're all alone. grab a hold. i know i said not to, but what the fuck do i know? i had a chance to construct something beautiful, and i choked..."---warning: long description ahead. i'm going to go more in depth with this video than i have in the past. this video has been in the works ever since 2017, when i first started listening to this band. however, i took a long break from it, and only recently this summer came back to it and decided to finish it. i'm very glad that i managed to push through to the end, because in doing so i've created what i think is one of the most powerful and personal videos i've ever made.honestly, i'm not quite sure how to articulate my thought process in making this video, so i guess i should just say that this song is one of my favorites and is very personal to me. the video, therefore, is personal as well. i'm going to explain some of it below.there's a lot of different topics i have covered in this video. most of the TLK segments, showing the differences between simba and kiara, are really meant to show different sides of the same person. it's not a gender thing, honestly. i thought it might be for a while but i'm starting to realize that i'm both kiara and simba. kiara represents the person i am now - she has a lot of hopes for the future, but she's also afraid, and has a lot of insecurities. simba is the person i want to become - strong, proud, and finally comfortable in my own skin. it doesn't mean that to me, kiara is flawed and simba is perfect - simply that i need to make peace inside of myself. i'd say that the TLK segments are the most important to me because of that.there is also a lot of use of LATT 2, mostly showing the relationship between angel and scamp; as well as how angel is affected by buster's treatment of her. buster, in a way, is angel's abuser - he has kicked her down repeatedly and brought her down to her core, and now she's been "rewired". she no longer believes she is worth anything. scamp has also been abused by buster, in more of a physical way. in order to become one of the junkyard dogs and gain buster's respect, scamp has to "tear the buildings down" and destroy his relationship with his father, therefore becoming someone he isn't. this makes him uncomfortable, and is what makes him want to break free of buster's grasp and take angel with him.these are the only two parts of the video i want to go seriously in depth with. there are other stories told within the video - kenai struggling with his human and bear side, and what he has done to koda; patch projecting idol worship onto thunderbolt to escape from his life; oliver giving up his place in dodger's gang for a home with jenny; and tramp trying to coax lady out of her protected life into the real world, where she can truly experience freedom. however, these are mostly self explanatory, and i don't feel the need to go into them as much.i hope you all don't think less of this video because i added no coloring. this may be a raw video, due to its lack of effects and focus on clip choice and flow, but i don't want that to be what is taken away from it; i hope that the video's meaning is what you all take from it. last time i did a full video ("the sea is a good place to think of the future"), i started out without a coloring, but then later on added one because i felt that the coloring added to the video aesthetically. this time i went without one because this song has never called one to mind for me; i've simply always had ideas for certain clips to be placed with certain lyrics.anyway, this is probably where i should stop the rambly description, as i'm sure most people have gotten bored or stopped reading by now. i hope that you all enjoyed and took something away from this video. mostly, i hope that it has an emotional impact, as that is one of the most important things i aim to do with my videos. i hope that i respectfully conveyed topics such as mental abuse, self hatred, depression, loss, and individuality through the use of animated animals and made a video that is truly worth looking back on with fondness. this is one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands and it's the start of an incredible album. the hotelier are some of the most prominent songwriters in the modern rock scene, and i'm so glad that i got to edit to one of their most powerful songs.the voice overs at the instrumental segment, in case nobody can hear them:"nuka is dead because of you! you've killed your own brother.""exile!""NO!""but we're finally together.""if we run away, they'll be divided forever.""a wise king once told me, 'we are one.' jumper [animash] rootbeerwolfdog 2019-08-15 | ...and if you do not want to see me again, i would understand.--i've been working on this video, no lie, since spring or summer of 2016. that's 3 years ago. now, i was working on it extremely on-and-off, that's true, but i'm just surprised i managed to stick it out and sit down for a couple days last month and finish it, including the entire second half + voiceovers. when i reeeally want to finish a video in one sitting, i can finish it, trust me.i meant to upload this a couple weeks ago, but as you can see, the coloring, which works amazingly for the majority of the video, fucked up the spirit segment about halfway through. it totally pixelates the horses which i really wasn't happy about, but each time i tried to fix the coloring it just made it look too different from the rest of the video which bothered me even worse, so i just decided to tone down the effects and brightness at that part to hopefully lower the pixelation. so that's why it took me so long to actually upload this after finishing. also, the coloring totally jacked up the rendering time so each time i rendered this was a huge pain in my ass.anyway, i'm finally done with this, and i hope that it's well received. third eye blind are a great band and this has always been one of my favorite songs from them. how relieved i am to finally upload an actual edit this summer, instead of a MEP or MEP-related video, you have no idea. i've missed editing, and now that my life has come to sort of a standstill, i can get back to it to a point. i have several videos planned for this month, and several months into the future. i'm working on about 4-8 projects right now, and hopefully i can finish them all. inspiration has struck. let's hope it stays.anyway, i hope you all like this. i missed good old animash, making a video with a mix of films and adding in the most emotional scenes, and good old voice overs were also fun to experiment with. i don't normally do text in my videos, and the text in this one was a bit of a pain in the ass, but i'm glad i added it bc it really does add to the video in the end. let me know how you feel about this video, the scene choices, flow, coloring, voiceovers and all. i appreciate feedback!see y'all next upload.--song: jumper by third eye blindmovies: balto, oliver & company, the lion king 1 & 2, the fox and the hound, lady and the tramp 1 & 2, spirit: stallion of the cimarron, bambi 2program: sony vegas pro 13editing time: 3 years. jk like, prob 12-14 hours overall? maybe morerendering time: 3-5 hours, idek manany questions: ask!--
ill be alright {FULL MEP} | EPILEPSY WARNING rootbeerwolfdog 2019-07-19 | no wind in the sails until i'm fully recovering--AHHHHHH I'M SO HYPED THIS IS FINALLY UP!! i haven't been so proud of a MEP since, well, night channels, but this is a really neat animash MEP. the theme was followed really well and it's a perfect work of art that compliments the song. i love the effects and colorings and other cool shit everyone did, the MEP has so much variety between usage of one movie, multiple movies, and crossovers. even though there were some repeats of films, the MEP didn't feel repetitive at all!I'd like to thank everyone who participated, and especially the people who changed their parts for me to fit the theme better. I know I was kind of a nightmare-ish host for this MEP, but it's cause I had a really specific vision, and y'all were super cool for going w that vision. TWO BEERS IN | ANIMASH rootbeerwolfdog 2018-09-24 | FUCK EVERYTHING ABOUT THISfinally this is done! i've been working on this since like august ughghg, i love this song and this genre so much. the song has always expressed such extreme anger and angst to me which is really great, and i've always had this vision in mind for it, movies and all, even if that vision shifted over time. am i 100% happy with this? no. but i'm never 100% happy with my videos. this looks good, and i'm proud of it. i modeled the color scheme in this video (soft, sad purple) and the intro (a house in the snow) after the cover of this album. i don't really listen to much free throw besides this song but the cover of the album always really stuck with me. the color just felt so right. i also focused on movies in which one character feels wronged - mostly romantic relationships and "competition" (buster vs. scamp, balto vs. steele, etc.) but i focused on copper and tod's relationship as well as it fits the angsty theme a lot. and then i added in some more movies at the end. anyways, despite the fact that this has flaws and bits of it are too crowded, i don't think i can fix this anymore than i already have, haha. i hope that you guys enjoy this angsty shit because i loved making it, even though it's become a real pain in my ass, i've gotten headaches while editing it and my computer going all haywire has obstructed the editing process a bit. i'm glad i can put up another video before school and work take over my life. i won't be editing a lot (besides slow videos and mep parts) for a while. it's not an inspiration issue, just time and a wacky computer. i'll edit again as soon as i can, and sorry for any inconveniences with MEPs and etc.well i keep rambling because i don't exactly know how to end this video, so byesong is called two beers in by free throw

poison oak. rootbeerwolfdog 2018-08-28 | the sound of loneliness makes me happierwatch, comment and subscribe over here: youtube.com/watch?v=FIkgrposrig&feature=youtu.beoriginally i was going to have this just be a donnie darko video but it soon became apparent that just wasn't going to happen. donnie darko, to me, is a movie built on science and superstition rather than emotion, and i needed to fill in the gaps. i decided to add in two other movies that are important to me, dead poets society and kill your darlings. these movies are all different in ways, each bringing a mix of existentialism, education, sexuality, religion and science to the table.. i made the video very broad, focusing on many different relationships that i find touching and important in these movies - the bond between mr. keating and his students, donnie and gretchen (as well as frank and his parents), neil and todd, lucien and allen, as well as lucien and david (yes i regret having them in here but it's an important part of the story) basically i wanted to make a video that was bleeding with the emotion felt from these movies. in a sense this video became my baby, i've been working on it since may i believe? maybe later idk. anyways it's done, i'm not 100% happy with it, as always, a couple of the clips i chose still don't look right but for the most part this flows and i'm ready to release it to the world. maybe it will mean nothing to anybody else, and it will get no comments, i'm expecting that. but i made it for me, for catharsis and as a dedication to this beautiful song (thank you bright eyes) and these movies that have come to mean so much to me, especially dead poets society. perhaps they make a weird trio, but they came together beautifully for this purpose imo. i hope to edit to all these movies again and become more skilled at live action editing. i know people know me for animash but i'd like to move beyond just that.most of the voiceovers are audible but just in case anyone has trouble making this one out, the one at 3:57 is lucien saying "i never wanna end up on that wall"

world spins madly on rootbeerwolfdog 2018-06-08 | everything that i said i'd dolike make the world brand newand take the time for youi just got lost and slept right through the dawn-a video i made whilst in the middle of a depressive episode. i started it when i was feeling very restless and finished it while i was very determined. despite the circumstances, i'm rather proud of this simple thing, and glad to release it into the world. editing is the one thing i know i don't suck at so i'm glad i have itthis song has been one of my favorites to listen to lately. i've really been getting into the weepies (mostly because of the fosters shhh) and their music is so cathartic to listen to, it's very calming. it was nice editing with spirit and brother bear, i don't give those movies a lot of attention. it was nice stepping away from tlk and balto for a bit. this video was inspired by m0rtuum, rushapart, mistertiggs, and transformingwave, all of whom can make wonderful videos without using effects. --

you know im stupid for wrestlin yu to husker du! rootbeerwolfdog 2018-05-03 | two mep parts i made this april that i think are decent. i had a lot of fun with stupid for you, always wanted to edit to it and went crazy with effects cuz why not. husker du is more raw, it came out more or less how i wanted it to tho, with an oldish vibe and i got to use some balto 3 scenesi don't normally upload little giblets like these but i didn't have an april video ready so i felt bad. my resolution is bleh but i'm still editing! just.. slowly
