LWR2 2026-01-09 | Last summer I asked for your help to solve a mystery.After buying a framed photograph of a freight train, I accidentally dropped it — and when the frame smashed, a hidden portrait fell out from behind the image. A mystery woman.Who was she?And why had her photograph been hidden behind a train?Thanks to your comments, research, and some remarkable coincidences, this video finally reveals what we now know.It turns out the pencilled signature I originally struggled to read was hiding in plain sight: Daisy Edis FRPS — a hugely important photographer based in Durham, a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, and a figure whose work is now held by institutions including Beamish Museum and Durham University.Even more astonishingly, I was contacted by Daisy’s own granddaughter.With help from researchers and viewers, we were also able to identify the woman in the photograph — likely Elspeth Royston, an ATS member based at Catterick Military Camp in 1939. The Most Incredible Shipwreck in the World – SS Thistlegorm LWR2 2025-07-04 | I recently published a video on the main channel about the steam locomotives that were on the SS Thistlegorm. This had a brief background on the ship and the story about how it came to be wrecked at the bottom of the red sea.A lot of the footage used in that video was taken by myself during a visit to the wreck way back in February 2025. Mocănița Maramureș Romanian Narrow Gauge Railway (Raw Loco Footage) LWR2 2025-06-28 | The full footage from the camera I attached to the locomotive on the Mocănița Maramureș Narrow Gauge railway. This will be used in the Romanian Railway Adventure series over on the main channel.I setup the camera to look back along the train which I was hoping might be produce more interesting shots than facing forwards. That was probably the right call for the series as it does provide a handful of very nice shots, but was probably a mistake overall as it just doesn't feel as exciting as facing forward and looking down the tracks.Unfortunately the camera cut out towards the end of the run, but the foliage was quite thick at this point, so the view wasn't great anyway.

Shakespeare Express 2022 LWR2 2023-05-26 | A trip on the Vintage Trains Shakespeare Express from Birmingham to Stratford-Upon-Avon.This trip was on 14 August 2022 during a heat wave and I didn't take much footage.Owing to the risk of line side fires the scheduled steam locomotive was replaced by two class 20s (20189 & 20142).The hot weather also made sitting in the historic coaches quite uncomfortable given the lack of aircon and made us really appreciate modern coaches.Sadly the afternoon tea package doesn't allow for any time to explore Stratford, it's basically an out and back service with a brief stop to stretch your legs (and dash to the nearest hotel to down a cold pint).
