Final Fantasy Mystic Quest Battle Theme in Mario Paint Composer - FINAL versionSnowDog802026-09-18 | Final Fantasy Mystic Quest Battle Theme in Mario Paint Composer - FINAL versionThreshold - Mission Profile Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802018-10-16 | I've always loved this song, and the lyrics feel just as true now as they were back when they were released in 2004. I first tried playing this song right when I was learning how to play most of Threshold, and the quick riffing was beyond my skill level at the time, so I just shelved it and forgot about it. A recent Threshold listening binge made me revisit it, though, and while some parts are still difficult (the quick palm muted runs in the heavy part before the chorus are too far for my fingers to spread, for example, so I just fudged it the best I could), I could at least make a passable run at it. Hopefully the results do it justice!Third Day - Caught Up In Yourself Guitar CoverSnowDog802018-08-05 | I dont' know how many times I've listened to this song without really recognizing how awesome the guitar parts are for this and how rocking the song is, but a recent trip in the car had me focusing on exactly that. And I knew I had to cover it once that happened. Hope to have done it justice. Very fun to learn by ear and play!Porcupine Tree - Blackest Eyes Guitar CoverSnowDog802018-06-09 | In Absentia is the first Porcupine Tree album I ever heard, and from the first riff of Blackest Eyes, it instantly had me hooked and I was a fan. Incredible lead song on an amazing album. Surprisingly not flashy and fairly easy to play, but still a lot of fun!Fireflight - I Wont Look Back Guitar CoverSnowDog802018-04-18 | Cover of Fireflight's new single. Surprised I haven't found anyone else who has done this yet... Hope I did it justice.
Enjoy!Threshold - Small Dark Lines Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802017-09-30 | Great song from Threshold's amazing new album. Had to cover it the first time I heard it, and tons of fun to learn by ear and play.
Ron Ouwehand also did a cover of this song before the album was released in the States, and it's excellent. Check it out! youtube.com/watch?v=CKU7zsHPMgQSkillet - Comatose Guitar CoverSnowDog802017-08-27 | Been on a Skillet listening binge lately. Figured this would be a great one to learn. Definitely some fun, especially with some of the varying rhythms.Steve Miller Band - Jungle Love Guitar CoverSnowDog802017-08-02 | Going to some classic rock for a bit for a few reasons. First of all, I'm trying to expand my proficiency past just playing power chords with the occasional lead, which, secondly, makes things more fun to play. And, third, there's some good memories tied up with this song and band in particular. Steve Miller Band was among my favorites to listen to on car trips with the family when I was a kid, and a recent visit back home piqued my interest in this song as it sounded in my skill level of playing. Turns out it was trickier than I originally had thought, but it's still a hell of a lot of fun, and the alternate tuning of open A was interesting to mess around with. I hadn't played much in the few weeks prior to learning this one, so all the slides and such during the song blistered the shit out of my fingers at first! Again, not a perfect rendition for sure, but hopefully close enough!
Oh, and the pitch might sound a little lower than on the record, mostly because it was recorded 3/8 of a step higher than the actual open A tuning used here. But it's not that much of a difference and it was easier to tune the track down that much rather than tune the guitar up to it, so this is what you get. Take it or leave it... ;)

(Edit Dec. 4, 2018) I just noticed that this is the first of my guitar cover videos to hit over 1000 views, far surpassing ones that I posted several years ago! Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to watch this self-taught guitar wannabe have some fun paying tribute to the music he enjoys. Every view, every like, every comment, every new subscription is duly appreciated. And if people actually enjoy it, then it makes it all the more worthwhile. Thank you again!Fireflight - Wrapped in Your Arms Guitar CoverSnowDog802017-04-18 | Yet another from Fireflight and their Unbreakable album. This time it's the closer, and though simple it might be, it's still fun to play for sure. Those chords in the beginning are gorgeous and kind of tricky, too...Fireflight - The Love We Had BeforeSnowDog802017-04-11 | Fireflight again. "The Love We Had Before". Simple and fun, with some slightly challenging filler riffs. Good times!DOWNTUNED! Alice in Chains - Man in the Box Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802017-03-12 | A little experiment in how a song would sound if it was tuned down a bit. First victim is Alice in Chains. Doesn't sound too much different overall in the key I'm playing for this video, and anything lower sounded even more like mud. Hope this version does some justice, and even if not, it was fun just to play around a bit.Fireflight - For Those Who Wait Guitar CoverSnowDog802017-01-18 | Easy tune to record, nightmare to video edit. So many different parts to put in made for a project for sure. Regardless, a simple and fun song to put on tape. Enjoy!Skillet - Hero Guitar CoverSnowDog802017-01-14 | Gotta give Skillet a little more love. Fun song to learn and play, and the lead parts are easy enough for my skill level. Hope I did this one justice!Casting Crowns - What This World Needs Guitar CoverSnowDog802016-11-19 | Another Casting Crowns cover, this time one from their album "The Altar and the Door." Recently purchased the record and knew I had to learn this song as soon as I first heard it.Casting Crowns - Holy One Guitar CoverSnowDog802016-10-17 | Apparently on a Casting Crowns kick. Very simple but still fun!Casting Crowns - Until the Whole World Hears Guitar CoverSnowDog802016-10-16 | What does one do on a rainy day in the Pacific Northwest? Cover an awesome song of course!
As usual, the original material is not mine to claim and the rights belong the the band and its publishers.Threshold - Pressure Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802016-08-23 | Learned how to play this one a while ago, just never got around to recording it since I could never get the prechorus riff right. Turns out the tab I learned it from was wrong and playing it correctly is actually easier than how I was doing it initially. Great song from Subsurface for sure.Nine Lashes - Never Back Down Guitar CoverSnowDog802016-08-06 | Was introduced to this band a couple of years ago by a friend. Glad they did, as some of their riffs are amazing. Pretty simple to play here for the most part, but still quite fun!Disturbed - Stricken Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802016-05-15 | A hell of a fun tune to play. Such great riffs here for headbanging goodness. And I never realized finally getting pinch harmonics down could be so much fun! Enjoy!Skillet - Monster Guitar Cover, Take 2SnowDog802016-05-01 | Redo of my Monster cover from a few years ago. Better guitar, better recording of video and audio, better tone (I'd hope, anyway). Significant improvement, I feel.Beautiful Sin - Lost Guitar CoverSnowDog802016-04-30 | From Beautiful Sin's first and, unfortunately, only album, "The Unexpected". A fun one to learn and play, and definitely not a perfect rendition by any means, but good enough I feel. Learned by ear again. Enjoy!Rush - The Anarchist Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802016-03-19 | A great song from Rush's latest (and likely last) studio album. Fun to play, simple for the most part, and a real fretting hand burner with all the barre chords to tire it out.Nightwish - Amaranth Guitar CoverSnowDog802016-03-05 | Still just as easy as the last video, with only 1/3 the length. Learned this song a long time ago and finally got around to recording it. A good, simple song that's pretty fun to play. And now that my webcam isn't causing the audio to skip when recording, I can finally use a higher resolution on the video.
The music contained herein is not of my creation and the rights belong to Nightwish and their publishers.Nightwish - Ghost Love Score Guitar CoverSnowDog802016-03-02 | Probably the best song the band has ever done. Not technically difficult to play, but the sheer length makes mistakes somewhat likely for a barely average (if that...) player such as myself. Still, I hope that I brought this awesome song some justice.
As usual, the song is not of my creation and the rights are held by Nightwish and their publishers.Fireflight - Desperate Guitar CoverSnowDog802016-01-23 | Off the Threshold kick and back to Fireflight. That opening lick is fun to play, even though I still can't quite get it cleanly. Regardless, good tune.Threshold - Sheltering Sky Guitar CoverSnowDog802015-12-21 | Slightly different approach to this one with the filming, using picture-in-picture software for the solos and one other part. Hell of a song, though, and incredibly fun to learn by ear and play. I have no idea how many times I had to play the solo once and again to get the part down, and I still didn't get it totally nailed. Regardless, I think it turned out fairly well, hope I did it justice.
Again, the copyrights to this song are not mine and belong to Threshold and their publisher.Threshold - Turn On Tune In Guitar CoverSnowDog802015-11-17 | Yet another Threshold cover, again from Hypothetical. It's been fun learning these songs for sure. Just hoping to do them some justice.Threshold - Long Way Home Guitar CoverSnowDog802015-10-17 | Yet another classic by Threshold. Once again learned mostly by ear, and even got a bit of the solo in at the end. Just can't get enough of that album! (Hypothetical)
As usual, the song I'm playing is not of my creation and all ownership right belong to the band and its publisher.Threshold - Oceanbound Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802015-09-22 | One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite albums ever. So many great riffs, and because there are absolutely NO tabs out there for this song, this was all learned by ear. As such, it's likely not 100% accurate, but I'm still satisfied with the results. All in all, over six and a half minutes of guitar playing bliss!Fireflight - You Gave Me a Promise Guitar CoverSnowDog802015-09-12 | A pretty easy song to play, but still pretty fun as well. Not too hard to learn or execute. Enjoy!Threshold - This Is Your Life Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802015-09-09 | "This Is Your Life" by Threshold, accented by an ever growing bald spot... Again, a fun song with some killer riffs and nice harmonics. Tough to keep the tempo and not drag it down, but a pure joy to play nonetheless!Decyfer Down - Over My Head Guitar CoverSnowDog802015-08-28 | Hell of a fun song to play, and essentially learned by ear. Such a great riff!Threshold - Slipstream Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802015-08-08 | "Slipstream" by Threshold, playing rhythm parts. Hell of a song, and a great one to debut the new Schecter Hellraiser with. Sounds so much better than my old Peavey, it's ridiculous! Love this thing!Audio Adrenaline - I Climb the Mountain Guitar CoverSnowDog802015-07-24 | Great song by a great band. Love that G chord at the end! :)
Again, this song is not my creation, I take no ownership of the rights, and all rights are of the band and its publisher.Heart - Barracuda Guitar Cover (Take 2)SnowDog802015-07-24 | Ahhh, "Barracuda" by Heart. One of the first songs that I learned how to play on electric guitar. Had to revisit it and do it better justice. Just can't beat that classic, iconic riff.
Again, this song is not my creation, I take no ownership of the rights, and all rights are of the band and its publisher.Red - Darkest Part Guitar CoverSnowDog802015-03-10 | Great band, great song. Fun to play, but also not too challenging overall.
Again, for the copyright stuff, this song is not of my creation and is credited to Red and any other original songwriters.Jeremy Camp - Worthy of My Praise Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802014-07-21 | Love this little rockin' tune. Had to learn it by ear, but it really wasn't too difficult for the rhythm parts at all. Definitely fun to play, though.
Again, for the copyright Nazis, I did not write this song and credit goes to the original musicians who did so.Fireflight - Unbreakable Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802013-09-27 | Yes, another Fireflight cover. Good songs, fun to play, and well within my meager skill level. This was the first Fireflight song I ever heard and loved the group right away. Looking forward to learning more songs of theirs.
Once again, the musical material in this video is not of my creation and credit fo that belongs to Fireflight and its members.Fireflight - Core of My Addiction Guitar CoverSnowDog802013-08-27 | Yet another Fireflight cover. Fun band to listen to and play, though likely not the most challenging.
And, as always, the song content provided is not of my creation and belongs to the original members of the band.Fireflight - The Hunger Guitar CoverSnowDog802013-07-21 | Was recently introduced to a band called Fireflight, and I instantly liked them. This is one of the songs from their Unbreakable album. Hard hitting and fun to play for sure. Coincidentally, this video also marks the two year point from when I picked up my first electric guitar which I'm also playing here. Only fitting, I guess...
Thanks to YouTube's uploading process, the video is slightly ahead of the audio. They were synced in the original video, I promise!
Once again, the musical material in this video is NOT of my own creation and this video is posted out solely out of appreciation for the original artists.Vanden Plas - Shadow I Am Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802013-01-26 | Back at it again...
Awesome band. Awesome album. Absolutely awesome song, and easily my favorite from Christ 0. Just a song chock full of awesome riffs, especially at the very end. Just a relentless rocker from beginning to end.
Definitely not a perfect rendition of it here (especially the REALLY sour note towards the end :\ ), but probably the best I can do with it and hopefully good enough to do it justice.
To hopefully keep the infringement Nazis off my back, credit for the song itself and copyright belongs to the members of the German band Vanden Plas, and I in no way take credit in the creation of the original material.Threshold - Phenomenon Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802012-11-28 | One of my favorite Threshold songs, I've been meaning to learn this one for a while. Was very challenging learning it, too, as there are no (and I mean NO) tablatures available for this song that I could find. Yes, this was all done by ear, and I think that it turned out pretty well myself. In addition to the rhythm guitar parts, I also recorded the clean parts of the lead as well which my crappy movie maker would not let me add another picture to what was there. The only part that I skipped aside from the solo was the quick run that plays a couple of times after the main riff. For only playing guitar for just over a year, I'm rather pleased with how this turned out. Hope I did it justice.
And to satisfy the copyright Nazis, the music contained within this video is not of my creation and all rights belong to the band Threshold and their publishers.Threshold - Light and Space Rhythm Guitar Cover.wmvSnowDog802012-10-04 | The first Threshold song I ever heard and I instantly became a fan of the band. Incredible songwriting and musicianship, and the album that this came from, Hypothetical, remains as one of my favorite albums ever today. RIP Mac... :(
Learning this song was a lot of fun. Again, there's a few mistakes, especially with the backing guitar during the solo section, but I'm very pleased with the results overall.
This is also the first video where I'm using the Schecter C-1+ I picked up a few months ago (God bless Craigslist!) This baby is a HUGE upgrade from the Peavey and Ibanez that I have been using, and the sound on it is so much clearer than those other guitars. Love this thing!Skillet - Monster guitar coverSnowDog802012-09-03 | Short, sweet, and pretty easy. Yet still fun to play. :)Rush - Subdivisions Guitar Cover.wmvSnowDog802012-07-01 | Here we go again.
Had to give my favorite band some love. Again, while not perfect, I think this one turned out relatively well. It's also my first attempt at a solo in one of these videos, which again I think turned out okay.
I do apologize for the weird distortion in the audio going on in the first 30 seconds. It does clear up after that, and I have no idea why it was doing it in the first place.
As always, the music featured in this video is not of my own creation, and the rights to this masterpiece belong to the original writers of Masters Lee, Lifeson, and Peart.Metallica - Enter Sandman Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802012-06-14 | This has always been one of my favorite songs since I first heard it, and I can't believe it took me this long to realize I wanted to learn how to play it. I was pretty tired when I recorded this video, and I realize that I really dragged the beat in places that make Lars' timekeeping seem like a fucking Swiss wristwatch, so please forgive me that. Regardless, this song is a hell of a lot of fun to play.
There's also a small outtake, like a "bonus clip" if you will, at the end which I found amusing when I rewatched it. Yes, that was the guitar pick I hucked in frustration when I missed the pre-chorus riff, and the solid, loud thunk it made in my webcam's microphone surprised me and made me laugh.Heart - Barracuda Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802012-05-08 | Easily my favorite song by this band. This cover isn't perfect by ANY stretch of the imagination (and I know the main riff is supposed to be palm muted - I like the way it sounds without it), but hot damn, is it fun to play!Evanescence - Bring Me to Life Guitar Cover.wmvSnowDog802012-05-02 | One of the first songs I learned how to play. Simple enough, yet also challenging enough as well for my beginner level. Hope this does it justice...
To sate the copyright nazis, this song is not of my creation and credit goes to Evanescence, Amy Lee, and Ben Moody for the making of this song.Evanescence - What You Want Guitar CoverSnowDog802012-04-21 | Finally, Evanescence are back with a new album. The Open Door sucked balls, but this self-titled one is pretty kick-ass. This song pretty much grabbed me immediately like Going Under did from Fallen when that came out.
Fairly easy tune here (as they all are that I'm playing due to skill level) and a hell of a lot of fun. Hope I do the original some justice...Scar Symmetry - The Illusionist Rhythm Guitar Cover.wmvSnowDog802012-04-19 | Loved this song the second I first heard it. And, after picking up the guitar last summer, when I listened to it again, I thought that it would be a blast to play. I wasn't wrong. This take isn't perfect (I don't expect it to be after playing for less than a year), and I know the rhythm is slightly off at the beginning, but it's still probably the best that I could do at this point. I also upgraded the sound, recording directly into the computer and using a webcam for the video. Much better than using the shitty point and shoot camera I had for my previous two videos.
Hope you enjoy!Devin Townsend Project - Resolve Rhythm Guitar CoverSnowDog802012-03-13 | As soon as I heard this song when Devin Townsend's Addicted came out, it became my favorite on the album. So, of course, I also had to learn how to play it. Today was the first attempt, and I have to say that I think I've got the rhythm chords down pretty well spot on. The root note during the verses of course should be palm muted, but I'm not that good at that yet and it sounded better if I just left it open. I also know that there's a few pinch harmonics in there, and I can't pull those off either yet, so cut me some slack. Not bad, though, for only learning how to play this thing today, and I'm VERY surprised that no one else has covered this song yet, nor are there any tabs that I could find. Yes, I learned this by ear. Hope I did this awesome tune some justice!
Again, to keep the copyright vultures at bay, the music in this video is not of my creation and credit should go to the original creator(s).
