Welcome to part one in my video series where I guide you through the process of making high quality Lego building instructions. In this episode I give a general introduction and go over the basics of modeling in LDCad.
Now I know these are long video's, however if you don't have the patience to watch through these video's to learn, you probably also won't have the patience to actually make instructions. and yes I know it sounds harsh but keep in mind making instructions will easily take more than 8 hours, depending on the size of your model.

Just a short of my Big Boy pulling along a combination of 6.7 Kg (±15lb) Additionally the locomotive weights 2.3(±5lbs) kg, so the total combined weight is 9 kg (±20lb)
This is a simple feature overview of my redesigned Lego Union Pacific Big Boy.
Originally this video was made as an internal overview for a Chinese manufacturer. However since it does show of the model and some of it's key features, I decided to slightly edit it and upload it for everyone else to see.
#UnionPacific #BigBoy #legoDeiz3l - Revisited | A rct3 mini projectMartis Brick Models2021-05-29 | Back in the days I made rct3 video's Deiz3l was one of the last roller coasters I published. So recently when I fired rct3 back up, I realized I still have the save file for it. So I went back in, made some changes, and re-recorded the video. This is the result.....
Radial engines are primarily used in Aircraft, however some can be found in tanks, cars and generators as well. A key aspect of radial engines is the odd number of cylinders, (5, 7, 9 etc.) this has to do with the firing sequence of the cylinders themselves. Always firing every other cylinder, so for a 5 cylinder engine the sequence is as followed: 1 - 3 - 5 - 2 - 4 - 1 - 3 - etc.
Creating this with Lego however proved to be very difficult. As it turns out there is no native pentagon shaped Lego piece (at least that I know of) so some creativity was required on my part. Luckily I used to be a big fan of Lego Bionicle and I found some of those nice Visorak frames in my collection, those turned out to be perfect and thus the design process began.
Initially I cheated a little bit, creating 5 identical 1 cylinder engines and sticking them together with a gear in the center. This worked, however I wasn't to happy yet as it wasn't a true radial engine. So I continued and come to a design that did work, well sort off. It runs but not as smooth anymore, this yet again came back to not having proper pentagon shapes in Lego. However, it works, and that was my primary goal. A true and working radial engine.
Here is my 42083 B-Model build, A Bugatti F1 Concept. - Independent suspension - 4 speed sequential gearbox - V10 piston engine - Steering - and 4 Wheel Drive
This Tatra truck is fully radio control using the Lego pf system, it is driven by 4 XL motors, 2 Servo motors and 1 M Motor. The drive train in this Tatra is also one of a kind, as it is not only a true Tatra 8x8 drive train but it also features lockable differentials on each "axle". The total piece count for this truck is 2847.
Welcome to part 4 of my tutorial on how to make Lego building instructions. In this episode I'll guide you through the final editing and refining of the instructions .pdf file. this all is done with Adobe Acrobat however any PDF editor that works for you would be ok to use.
This is the final video of my main tutorial series, in the future I might dig a little deeper into some subjects, or explain some more advanced techniques you can use.

Welcome to part three of my tutorial on how to make Lego building instructions. In this episode I go over checking the parts list adding "step rotations" and prepare the model for rendering of a cover image. Initially I did plan to include some LPub3d, however I would have to split up the LPub3d part if I where to do that which seemed to me as a bad idea.

May I welcome you to my 2nd version of my pneumatic locomotive. Still under the same BR86 locomotive.
This is the smoothest version I was able to come up with, sadly in order to achieve this I had to mount all pneumatic cylinders inside frame rather then on the side of the locomotive. Nevertheless it is still a great achievement.
Here's my design for a tilting train. It's fully passive and includes the ability to overcome the tilting mechanism, when running through switches or s-bends. The train is here only for demonstration purpose, not to be a showpiece. (for that check my Big Boy)
So what does this design offer? -Easy to implement -No compromise on looks -Works with all Lego train motors (except 4,5v) -Overcomes tilt in s-bends -Low part use -Free to implement into your own designLego Big Boy, Union Pacific, 4014 Update | Version 1Martis Brick Models2019-03-27 | Version 2 Instructions available here: rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-89126/morningstrummer/4014-big-boy-version-20/#details
This is a slight update to my Union Pacific Big Boy, which is mostly external detailing. Including the most obvious update, full on decal'd out to more resemble the original train, and a slightly updated color scheme to what I suspect is the updated color scheme of the UP 4014 restoration. (turns out I am only a bit of on the front wheels)
Powering this behemoth of a train are 2 power function large motor's hooked up to a V2 receiver and a rechargeable lego battery box. I couldn't get 300psi of steam to work in this train sadly, something with heat and melting plastics, dunno I'm not a rocket scientist.
Are you a huge fan of trains, well do I have a huge train for you. The Union Pacific Big Boy. This train is carefully crafted over the span of 6,5 years in order to get the best representation of the big boy as possible. Designed from the ground up with drive-ability in mind. Powering this bad boy are 2 large power function motor's that are fully integrated into the technic frame.
Technical details: -Little shy of 1200 parts -Max rpm measured, currently 540 (read "final testing") -Length: 26 studs (21cm, 8,25 inch) -Width: 20 studs (16cm, 6,3 inch) -Hight: 17 studs (14cm, 5,5 inch) -Weight: 870 gram (1lb 14oz)
Story Time:
The inspiration: After the release of the LEGO Bugatti Chiron, I felt kinda disappointed for the lack of a proper W16 engine. Witch in turn gave me the inspiration to design a new pneumatic engine. And knowing the additional design technicality's I felt challenged to actually make it work.
The beginning process: Having challenged myself into, taking a complicated engine and making it work with the limited amount of options LEGO has to offer, I decided to tell some people about my insane idea. Since some people didn't believe I was able to do so, I had to off course prove them wrong. and here's where the prototyping starts.
The design process: Looking back at it now it was a lot easier than I initially expected. after less than a handful of prototypes and about 1,5 hours of work, I managed to come up with a design that is fairly similar to what you see now, however far from finished. The design pretty much went in 2 parts, first I started with the frame for the pistons. When that was done I debated on how to drive the switches, Initially I wanted to use a sliding design But due to size constraints I was forced to use a camshaft design.
The build process: After ordering all the parts I got to work on the final design. (believe it or not I didn't have a full design before ordering parts) So I used the basis of the prototypes, improved upon them, and finally find out a way to merge the switches with the cilinders without it looking like it was just "stuck on top of there". But oh boy then came the biggest challenge.... the pneumatic hose. man that was a real mental challenge, Just try it for yourself: 16 cilinders under 4 different angles on the crankshaft, 2 rows of 4 switches, a really small space to work within, and to top it all of If you make a mistake you'll have to take half the engine apart in order to fix it.
Timing the engine: Now if you think watching the finals of the super bowl is stressful you should imagine this: I finally finished the engine to the point of timing the switches, and with the first test the engine ran in 2 different directions.(you can actually see this test go wrong in the video) After some investigation I luckily figured out I didn't wire the pneumatic hose improperly, instead It was just a matter of having 2 switches switch on the wrong moment. so little tweaking of the camshaft did the trick.
Final testing: Then off course there is the final test and the o so happy face I made when the engine first ran. Man what a relief, and with a bit of optimizing I managed to get a top rpm of 540 for now. (When creating the instructions I realized I made a mistake fatal for getting high rpm. I DIDN'T drill out the first pneumatic inlet, so i was still restricted to the tiny hole lego puts in their parts rather then the physical limit of the engine.
The building instructions: Honestly the building instructions where an afterthought. When I started I had only the intention to create an amazing piece of engineering, and filming it for everyone to see online. So how come these instructions? Well I have tried before to create instructions without any succes, so I thought lets come back to that but this time learn the software and make a successful instruction for everyone to use. But what about the price? Lets be honest, designing a machine like this is no easy task. And on top of that I don't want everyone to just try to build this only to figure out they don't have the technical knowhow to get this engine to work. In other terms: I want to demote the people that are not determined.

but oh well here it is my music video of 2009. with hours of and even more hours on rendering and uploading it is finally here. why is it called 2009 and not 2010, well the coasters are only from 2009, the video was supposed to come in 2009, and most of the work is done in 2009.
will there come something like this of 2010 to?
maybe it depends on it if i will forget it, and how the situation is.

I decided to recreate this ride after seeing his last video, i asked permission and he gave me the green light. i started working on it and now it is here on youtube "again" so you can engoye of a recreation of his last coaster.
you may know why m00nkinftw didn't uploaded this coaster wel here it is again. he started working on it and when the trailer came out I saw in his last clip where to find more information about the coaster, i decided to go and look over there. and yes it whas there but after one or two weeks hee made a reply that he was having problems with his rct3, he couldn't open xyn and also not a sandbox. he tried to fix it by removing his last installed scenery, but stil it didn't load. he told that he would try to fix the problem and still upload xyn, but when he fixed his pc he didn't reinstall the game ;-( he didn't have any motivation to reinstall the game again. and if he did he would, it wouldn't mind becous he lost the park file. ;-( ;-( and that was about it.
as sayed before I was HAVING THE PERMISSION TO RECREATE THIS RIDE. and now you can still be inspired by m00nkinftw's last ride. every UNWANTED comments wil be REMOVED.inhaler nolimitsMartis Brick Models2009-05-17 | hello and welcom to my seccond nolimits coaster. this is not my seccond coaster i created (ofcourse) but have fun.

it would be really nice for other rct3 designers to share this video.
