I had such a time trying to create this layout, but in the end I absolutely love it! In May I created a scrapbook layout showcasing my granddaughter getting an award for her participation in a DI event. Well I don’t always show these, but today I’ll show you the companion page I created to go along with it. This design was inspired from a sketch that is in the Stampin'Up Catalog. The sketch was a starting point for me, but I did have to change it up a bit so it would work with how I needed to present it in my page.Now we’ll be doing a lot of DIYing we’ll call it. I wanted to share with you my next video showing you my Sheetload of cards. This is the July video which will be a set of cards giving you a jumpstart on your holiday cards along with other bonus items. Hopefully this gives you ideas and inspiration. So, let’s get started.First, in this part of the video, I will not be doing much chatting. However, I will go through process for you and throw in notes along the way. Enjoy the soothing music while you watch this video. I did not have a full sheet of specialty paper, but I really liked this paper, so I had to use it. I made 9 holiday cards; but threw in some bonus cards. I really liked this card sketch and design, so with other stamps and papers, I created a few Welcome to the neighborhood cards, plus one for a family member giving them words of encouragement. One last bonus – I did not have the right size envelope. Well, if you’ve been watching my videos, that doesn’t stop me. I took one of my #10 envelopes and cut it down to fit nicely for this mini-slime card. We’ll walk through one of the card designs, and look at how to create a mini-slimline card! But stay tuned, there will be some of the other cards shown today and I’ll have some tips and other ideas as well. You will see: • How we can take a few pieces from this kit and make a mini slimline card.• Other thoughts of coordinating with other DSP papers to make these into masculine and vintage cards • Envelopes – we’ll take one apart and use it to border one of our strips of paper• Use your grid mat or glass mat to line up your sentiments• When using punch outs or die cuts, grab some type of sticky material to hold it in place while you stamp on it. I use an insert from a photo album that has some low tack stick to it.• When using 3D Embossing folders, might want to spritz with water to help the fibers loosen up. Then just run it through your machine, and it’ll be beautifully embossed.• When attaching thread, sometimes it's best to use both tear and tape and glue. Tear and tape to make sure it’s secure and the glue to help with some wiggle time. Oh, and also – be sure to watch to the end, I threw in some sneak peeks for you!You will see techniques on: • Looking at ways to step up the cards, inside and envelopes• Ensuring larger focal points stay secure - load up those dimensionals• Ways to save your thread, especially if you love it like I did….this bronze metallic color!• When placing multiple items in a row, just line up pieces by outside edges and then place your piece in the middle• Options on placing items onto die cuts, I find it’s best to place glue in the middle of papers or die cuts to keep it from smooshing out onto card• Touching up items, you can use Stampin write markers or you could trim the die cuts. I prefer the dot method and add in lightly • Dressing up your Envelopes, this will also make an impression when recipient sees your card coming in the mail. Today, we'll be working card on #3.These cards are a part of a One Sheet Wonder. It’s actually still a work in progress. But, we’ll show you a sneak peek today. Some tips today:Cost Savings:• Ever thought about using household products in crafting. Here I’ve used a Brie cheese lid that normally goes into trash. Great to store these small bits like the stars.Stenciling• Basic blending, but always good to secure the cardstock. How about using photo sheet in place of a sticky sheet Stamping and coloring:• You can either stamp onto the die cut or cut it first.
