surviveknives.comMagnacut Anomaly: An Inside LookSURVIVE!2024-03-19 | Well, right after our first update from the lab, we received a cool follow up! This view is our first look at the interior cross section of an anomaly inside a sample sent in for evaluation. That thing is HUGE! I hope this video more clearly illustrates why we are so insane about inspecting our parts and our commitment to maintaining the highest quality possible for all of you.
surviveknives.comCPM Magnacut: First Look at Lab ResultsSURVIVE!2024-03-19 | The first lab sent over some really fun images from their initial investigations. The full analysis will take a little bit of time yet but they are certain at this point there is NO WAY we could be doing any of what they're observing. These are anomalies within the material, not a manufacturing shortcoming. Multiple labs now have material samples, so we'll be able to obtain redundant analysis, to reconfirm all findings. Anyway, you'll know more when we know more, have a great day!

We are sharing these as a matter of public record, to help folks better understand what's been going on. I've decided to just post these, since we didn't initiate contact, we agreed to nothing, we signed no agreement, this attorney does not represent me and I feel this whole situation is highly suspicious.
When we know more, you'll know more. Thanks so much for stopping by.
Magnacut void and material strain feedback emails to NSM: youtu.be/SIC2RH2lp4A?feature=sharedOctober 2022: Magnacut Void EmailsSURVIVE!2024-02-17 | We are posting these emails for the public record and to clear up any confusion regarding the timeline and the nature of our issues regarding CPM Magnacut.
We have always cooperated and given feedback toward improvement.
I hope this video better explains why we are moving to Bohler and Uddeholm grades. We have had ZERO issues in processing any of these grades and this issue seems to be uniquely specific to CPM Magnacut.MagnaCut Void Emails: No IntroSURVIVE!2024-02-17 | This video is for the public record. As you can see, we had been in contact with Niagara Specialty Metals and Crucible, in late 2022, regarding voids and quality inconsistencies.
As of now, we've never gotten a response on what these issues could be. We also never got our samples back. I just want to make high quality knives.Finishing: A Detailed LookSURVIVE!2024-02-17 | This morning we're taking a look at why our finishes are so uniform.ASMR Production Update #qualityfirst #immaculateSURVIVE!2024-02-16 | ...EDC-4 in K890SURVIVE!2024-02-15 | Today we are taking a closer look at the saber ground EDC-4, featuring Böhler K890 blade steel and 3 color camo G10 handles.

How we reacted in the face of the decarburizing: youtu.be/O6yGtnM2sQU?feature=shared(Internal Memo) Counter Offer To NSMSURVIVE!2024-02-12 | This video is a response to a communication Guy received from Paul Nesper, an attorney representing Niagara Specialty Metals. We were originally approached with an offer of $15,000 for "alleged" defects, with them wanting us to stop making posts regarding the quality of Magnacut.
This video was my counter offer. Apparently they declined my offer. 😂
We were again contacted this morning, with their position essentially changing to "this is all your fault, Magnacut is amazing". For legal reasons we can't share the emails but we will do a follow up, carefully explaining the situation in greater detail.HUGE CPM-Magnacut VoidsSURVIVE!2024-02-12 | Check out these HUGE voids in CPM-Magnacut. Niagara Specialty Metals has blocked us on IG and seemingly refuses to even acknowledge the issue. I wonder if Larrin Thomas @knifesteelnerds will ever decide to weigh in on the issue? You can keep hiding behind marketing for a while, but we are getting independent third-party lab testing done now. This is all going to come out eventually, backed up with multiple lab reports. Enjoy your sunshine while it lasts... 🍿Steel Quality Follow UpSURVIVE!2024-02-11 | This video is a response to a question. To @user-wv6k3vs2n I hope this answers your question. Moisture revealed the issues with the blade, it didn't cause it.
surviveknives.comClarifying The Axe PostSURVIVE!2024-02-11 | Just to clarify, this is a subcontract job for @millrunknife , not an upcoming project we're doing. I hope that clears things up for everyone, have a great afternoon!OEM Waterjet Excitement! #qualityfirst #waterjetcutting #millrunknife #gettingthingsdoneSURVIVE!2024-02-11 | Today we are highlighting a fun water jet cutting project we just wrapped up for Mill Run Knives in Meadville, Pennsylvania. This project was based on a hand drawing that we converted to a cutting file for the customer. We are very happy with how this turned out, and we achieved an excellent yield, even netting him some extra knives in the process. Blade Steel Quality MattersSURVIVE!2024-02-11 | In tonight's video we talk about blade steel and one of the many reasons we are crazy about quality.
The blade with the holes in it originally came into the shop on warranty for "fisheye" rust spotting but the blade integrity looked ok after cleaning. It was only after we ran this blade through our peening process that chunks of what I now believe to be carbide chunks, blew out of the surface of the substrate.
Once we took over our own finishing, these issues became apparent in new blades, which we pulled from production to avoid delivering them to customers. In finishing they look like raised bumps, as those chunks of material are harder than the surrounding substrate. Due to the high number of instances we encountered, it wasn't long before we discontinued using the CPM-20CV material.
Have a great night and apologies for all of the "Uhh". My brain gets fixated on a word and the more I try not to use it, the more my brain, uhhh, wants to use it. -Guy
