WANDERING Clip - Protection CarrCom Films 2014-10-31 | Here is a small Halloween treat from CarrCom: a clip from WANDERING, our next film!WANDERING tells the story of James Alden, whose father has recently passed away. The scenes we shot came out extremely poor, so I made the decision to focus on working behind the camera as I knew it best - at the end of the day, I'm no actor. We then managed to gather an excellent cast of on stage youth theatre actors such as Finn Cresswell, Nathan Stafford King and, of course, CarrCom regular Nathan Carr. We also have Dawn Limbu in a small role and as our make-up artist.WANDERING is a massive project that we have shot over seven months with expensive equipment and a lot of effort. We will not be ending all that by uploading it to Youtube. Instead, it will be edited over 2015 and submitted to indie film festivals. If it can succeed on a festival circuit, we can hopefully release it on DVD and digital download, and earn enough recognition to fund future projects. A Film in a Day CarrCom Films 2013-10-11 | This was the outcome of a small group project at Uni, where we were put into random groups of 4, given a prepared story synopsis and had to film and edit a short 1-2 minute film throughout the allotted time during the day.Our synopsis involved two young lads chilling together, when they catch sight of a girl they aim to impress. They arm wrestle to boast their strength, but it turns out the girl is waiting for her boyfriend who eventually turns up, much to the embarrassment of the other guys.It's very rough, admittedly. The editing could be better and some shots are a little awkward. But it was a strong effort overall, and considering it was all shot and edited in about 2 hours, I'm quite pleased with it. Storm CarrCom Films 2013-09-19 | This is my entry to a project at University. The idea was to create a series of photos or a video that demonstrates the manipulation of light in lens based media.My video is summed up in the title. I used my model railway to have full control of lighting, creating the lightning effects by flickering a Dot-It light. The idea was to create disturbing shadows that move and change size and to create a naturalistic set piece using only light. Sound effects are kept simple to enhance the atmosphere, and towards the end when a lightning strike starts a wildfire, the effect is only conveyed through light. I decided against using any pyrotechnics or post production effects as this would be against the project regulations and defeat the entire point of everything.
Self Portrait - Andrew Compton CarrCom Films 2013-08-23 | A short passion project to practice my first time using a newly purchased Canon DSLR and RODE Stereo Videomic Pro, with a short story revolving around how artistic hobbies can brighten up our daily lives when the chance comes to embrace them. Pablo Picasso's renowned quote, shown at the very end, sums it all up in a nutshell. The video depicts various hobbies including railway modelling, drawing and photography.

Writing for this film began in May 2012 and it is loosely based on a short five minute film I created in 2010 for a school competition. The film once again stars myself and Nathan Carr in the main roles and we both were involved in the production of the film from beginning to end, assisted by my girlfriend Kerry Etheridge who helped with cinematography. With a runtime of 60 minutes, Nightmare is the first CarrCom production to reach one hour in length and is our longest film yet!For the best viewing, select full screen and 480p (720p causes too much interlacing as Nightmare was shot and edited in SD format). My Adventures in Hollywood CarrCom Films 2013-03-04 | A small video with footage from holiday to Los Angeles during February 2013. It was a college trip that had been planned since July 2011 and will become a regular annual event for the college hosted by the Film and Media department. Fantastic stuff!We went to the Oscars, Disneyland and Universal theme parks and toured the area with an excellent guide. It was immensely fun and one of the best weeks of my life. I thank all those who hung out with me during it who made it funny, exciting and memorable from beginning to end. I also thank our teachers Alex and Mike for preparing and hosting this amazing trip!Enjoy! The song is Life is a Highway by Rascal Flatts!

Mallorca 2011 - Music Video CarrCom Films 2012-06-16 | A small music video that covers my holiday to Mallorca, Spain between July 26, 2011 and August 2, 2011.This was all filmed with my Panasonic SDR-S26 Video Camcorder. Keep in mind that it is all simple holiday footage and this is just a little video made last year to show it off. It was never intended to be shot in a professional manner or edited into a genuine music video, so please excuse the somewhat shaky camerawork and random clips. The Gruesome Threesome CarrCom Films 2012-03-14 | 'The Gruesome Threesome' is a collaborative project by Brockenhurst College students Andrew Compton, Joseph Fox, Samuel Watson and James Rickaby. The project was filmed from January - February 2012 in Brockenhurst and New Milton and edited in iMovie HD, taking around ten weeks to complete (though it was only worked on around one day each week) and finally burned to DVD on March 7, 2012.The project was part of an A Level Media Studies coursework task to produce 3 minutes of digital video that follows the genre conventions of television soap operas, such as EastEnders and Coronation Street. Before the group task, we had to pen shooting scripts individually and combine them to produce a collaborative video sequence.For our project we decided to use the title of Andrew's script and take elements from each of our own, such as an argument scene which was included in Andrew's original script and a drug dealing storyline. These are common issues seen in soap operas and proved effective when used. We hope you enjoy it! Three months after the events of 'The Map of Five', Nathan and George escaped the house and are alive and well. George has put the terrors behind him, but Nathan will never let go; something is not right...The Reign of Five was completed on May 31, 2010 and uploaded to my Facebook account on June 1, 2010. Unlike its predecessors, the film gained little feedback (though the comments it did get were positive) and faded away quickly. It has a shoddy script and awful acting, but was one of my most ambitious projects at the time and is still good fun to watch.Did you enjoy the film? The Map of Five CarrCom Films 2012-02-21 | CarrCom Films' 2nd FilmFollowing the events of 'Five', two good friends of Andrew Samson find a mysterious map marked with the number five which leads them to the house of their missing friend. It's only when they begin to investigate the map's purpose that they land themselves in mortal peril.The Map of Five was originally created and uploaded to my Facebook account on March 7, 2010. Unlike the first film, the sequel goes for a different approach with more bulk to the story and usage of dialogue. The film garnered very positive reception from viewers. Despite being poorly written and acted, I still find the film to be good fun from beginning to end and the ideas behind the improvised handheld cinematography have inspired my future projects.Did you enjoy this film? We hope you enjoy!Five was originally completed and uploaded to my Facebook account on January 17, 2010. It gained hugely positive reception but I have no interest in it anymore. I will always treasure it as my first film and one that developed my skills, but outside of its production backstory, there is nothing I find compelling about it.
