San Francisco, Powell Street marks the 19th release in my San Francisco collection, yet this wonderful town continues to provide breathless views.
Perhaps that’s because San Francisco is such a lived-in city. Wherever you look you find dynamic street life, and the famous cable car.
In San Francisco, Powell Street I’ve taken artistic license to move the wonderful Bay Bridge into view. In middleground we see the Sir Francis Drake Hotel with its famous Starlite Roof adorned by its landmark spinning star.

Art Notes:
London is the rarest of contemporary cities – at once rich with picturesque landmarks and invigorated by modern energies. I set up my easel at just this spot to capture its two faces. I painted within the shadows of Westminster Bridge, ancient and massive, while a regal sunset illuminated the reflections of the House of Parliament and the Tower of Big Ben in the silvery water of the Thames.
I had some fun with the river, hiding the periscope of a vintage submarine in its depths, and a bobbing bottle, perhaps containing a love note to my wife Nanette.

Paris, City of Love. The most romantic city in the world. A place where starry-eyed lovers stroll hand-in-hand along the River Seine or linger in sidewalk cafes speaking French, the “language of love.” A city whose beauty strikes us at every corner, with its elegant architecture, iconic monuments, and the subtle combination of art, history and nature, creating the perfect canvas on which love can be conceived and painted into its own masterpiece.
Standing above the city is the most romantic of places, the Eiffel Tower. With its glittering lights illuminating the birth of evening, couples share romantic moments, wedding engagements and honeymoons, that create memories that will last an eternity.
Thomas Kinkade loved Paris, and the great tradition of artists and work that have flowed from its studios for centuries. He painted it often, always capturing its magnificent surroundings and that romantic “magic” in the air.
The Thomas Kinkade Studios presents a romantic vision of Paris. Find yourself strolling with someone you love down its streets or through this canvas masterpiece, and you will understand why Paris is called, the City of Love.

If there was a place that could melt your troubles away it would be here. The French Riviera is known the world over for its glamour, beauty, and pristine coastline but this tranquil spot takes it to a whole new level. Picture yourself navigating around the narrow streets of this Mediterranean city as you stumble upon an open table at a coastal café. The sun has just begun to set into a seascape teaming with sailboats as you sit down to enjoy the view.

If ever a place could whisk away the troubles of the day, it would be here. Once a fisherman’s harbor, now this quaint southern Sicilian village draws weekenders, beach-dwellers, and romantics. At every turn, the streets and piazzas are lined with stalls of fresh and local food; aubergines, fish, zucchini, tomatoes, and almonds.
Like they have for centuries, the shop keepers have watered down the streets and entryways to limit the dust and sand that had blown in overnight. As the day begin, a young lady fetches a loaf of bread and an elderly painter sets up his pallet and make-shift easel looking to capture the sea and the sails.
Although Michelangelo’s coffee and pastries are known throughout the island, the cafe offers more than just sustenance for the body, it also offers a timeless encounter with Italy’s flora and fauna, a complete reprieve for the soul.
Allow Thomas Kinkade Studios to draw you into the fertile hills of Italy’s finest vineyards to the salty shores of the Mediterranean Sea and everywhere in between with the release their newest painting, Italian Cafe, a work that encapsulates every delicate aspect of southern Sicily.

Once a major maritime republic, now this island city draws artists, romantics, and architectural enthusiasts. At every turn of the canal, you will find the sidewalks lined with a luminous spectacle of ornate marble and frescoed palaces, bell towers, and domes alongside various shops and cafés that cater to visitors from across the world.
Picture yourself at Café Venezia, a must stop for any traveler, offering fine Italian cuisine for the body and stunning views of Saint Mark’s Basilica at sunset for the soul.
Allow Thomas Kinkade Studios to draw you into the sparkling waters of the Grand Canal under a blue Adriatic sky with the release of their newest painting, Venetian Café, a work that captures the tranquil beauty of Venice.

The bond between a mother and her child is born with the first flutter of life within the womb. It is an immediate love – unconditional, all encompassing, boundless, and eternal. She is our first best friend, our confidant, our inspiration. She is the foundation of the family, creating a warm home and traditions that will last a lifetime.
Nothing is more treasured than the special moments, big and small, that a Mother enjoys with her children. A Mother’s Perfect Day captures some of those moments – impromptu picnics, exploring nature, and playing with favorite toys. No matter how many years have passed, these memories will always hold an important place in Mom’s heart. This painting is a celebration of these times – a reflection of the best days of a mother’s life.

About the Image:
For the second work in my Sweetheart Cottages collection, I've conjured a vision of a perfect romantic hideaway. "Falbrooke Thatch" is nestled right next to a charming little waterfall, with an arched footbridge leading from the front door over the falls. I've devoted "Falbrooke Thatch" to Valentine's Day (note the 214 address just below the heart-shaped window) and to romance. In fact, I've hidden hearts throughout the painting. The more hearts you can find, the more romantic you are.

About the Image:
The cooling, tranquil feeling of resting beside still waters… what trouble or pain could not be hushed by such moments? And yet, in the rushing of our lives, each of us at times seem to prefer the raging torrents to the quiet brook — why else wouldn’t we seek daily those waters that are still? Stillwater Bridge is an attempt to reflect waters that are still and inviting. I hope you can linger a moment or two.

About the Image:
Peacefulness and tranquility are such precious commodities. As I look upon the undisturbed waters surrounding Nanette’s Cottage, I am reminded of simpler times in my own life. Some sixteen years ago I had the chance to lead a quieter existence – some might even say that it was during this period that I first learned the serenity that has become the essence of my art. It was during an extended stay in southern England that I first discovered that life moved at a kinder and gentler pace for those who would seek it. Our evening walks as a young family often led us to the cottages that lined the meandering stream at the center of our village. It was on one such walk that I discovered a cottage that in my mind would always be linked to my life partner, Nanette. “I would love to live in a cottage like that someday” Nanette had remarked at the time. Now, as we prepare for our 27th anniversary and the advent of my wife’s birthday, I at long last give to Nanette the gift of that cottage as in years past I have given painted cottages to my children..

About the Image:
Thomas Kinkade was a life-long admirer of Walt Disney and the wonderful characters he created. While Thom re-created many of his favorite stories on canvas, he also envisioned classic Disney characters set within traditional Kinkade images. In these paintings from Thomas Kinkade Studios, his dream is proudly brought to life.
In this gorgeous Spring setting, Mickey Mouse presents Minnie Mouse with tokens of his affection – flowers, chocolates and a heart-shaped balloon. Romance is in the air as the pair enjoy an afternoon at their favorite sidewalk café. Dogwoods are in bloom, colorful flower boxes line the cobblestone lane, and love birds perch peacefully above the pair. Minnie Mouse glows with joy – deeply touched by Mickey Mouse’s gifts.
Mickey and Minnie – Sweetheart Café reminds us how beautiful love is and how thoughtful gestures can mean so much.

About the Image:
While visiting England one fall, Nanette and I decided to take a driving trip to the lake district — a beautiful area of England known for its spectacular scenery. While there, we stayed in this cottage, interestingly enough once owned by Beatrix Potter, the famous creator of Peter Rabbit and other stories. The cottage was part of a large farm and as I worked on the painting, I was surrounded by an assortment of chickens and geese, who took more interest in my lunch than in my painting! By the way, the room we stayed in is the one at the upper left of the cottage.

Hollyhock House, second in my Flower Cottages of Carmel collection, is a real hideaway along the picturesque Pacific coast. The rich, honey-colored stone is an effect of wind and weather on rock. The splendid, dignified hollyhocks, that rise as proud and straight sentinels at the entrance to the garden, are my imaginative addition to the scene.Gallery Locator

About the Image:
Walking trails accompany even the smallest stream in England, and on a summer's evening a peaceful stroll beside a gently whispering brook is guaranteed to restore even the most burdened soul. On one such evening walk in England, my family and I came upon the idyllic cottage on which I based this painting. With lush gardens and the constant murmur of the tiny brook, I can't imagine a more enchanting setting!

The effect, which is a trademark of almost all Thomas Kinkade paintings occurs when you slowly bring down the light illuminating the painting. The effect really feels as if the sun is setting inside of the painting, it's amazing! About the Image:
Like Norman Rockwell's famed ""Four Freedoms," my Symbols of Freedom celebrates foundational American values. The Department of Agriculture tower at the left symbolizes the Freedom from Want. The national Christmas tree expresses the pageantry of the holidays, its glowing lights affirming the hope that burns in every heart through our individual Freedom of Religion. The severe obelisk of the Washington Monument represents for me the founding of our republic which provided Freedom from Fear by placing government on the side of the people. Finally, the cupola of the Jefferson memorial symbolizes our founding father's steadfast commitment to Free Speech. Illuminating these powerful symbols and touching the modest crowd is the glorious light of God's golden sunset.

About the Image:
Surf bursts in an explosion of brilliant light against the massive coastal rock. The luminous translucence of the aqua wave shimmers with an internal fire. Now, for the first time, I share it with my collectors.

About the Image:
The Night Before Christmas revisits the stately mansion, while the change of season works a dramatic transformation of the scene. Snow shrouds the foliage, replacing the gemlike dazzle of flowers in the earlier piece with a tapestry woven in shade of white. About the Image:
I did not choose to show the warrior's face in my painting of the homecoming veteran. The hero of Heading Home is not an individual at all; he is the essence of the American soldier. We cannot tell whether he returns from Normandy, from Saigon, from Beirut. In a sense, he has spilled his blood on all those fields of honor.

About the Image:
In The Good Life, third and final piece in my Beginning of a Perfect Evening collection, I have in effect set up my easel in that imagined space where God’s bounty is manifest. I identify with the fisherman, who lives in a profound harmony with nature and receives its gifts with humble gratitude. Towering peaks embrace the valley. I imagine that my wife and daughters are safely tucked away within, enjoying the pleasures of domesticity, as they await my return with the evening catch.

Friendship Cottage brings one of my most extended series to a satisfying close. There are places where the bounty of God's creation shines forth with such radiance that the humble heart is moved to express its gratitude in prayer. Dogwood Chapel portrays just such a spiritual jewel within a setting of breathtaking natural beauty. A graceful footpath leads us to the door of a modest chapel, lodged within the shade of an overarching, flowering dogwood tree. Whether or not we know the legend of the dogwood, we cannot help but recognize that this tree with its lavish white blossoms is a sign of God's sheltering grace, and His abiding gift of love.

The sky begins to illuminate, sun patches on the ground really stand out and the windows of cottages seem glow brilliantly as if somebody’s at home. Is it an optical illusion or magic? About the Image:
The feeling that I get when I visit Charleston is nostalgic, romantic, as if I had somehow stepped back in time. So, as I worked on my studio treatment of Charleston, Sunset on Rainbow Row, I've filled my streets with vintage cars and passersby wearing simple yet timeless garb. Step aboard the horse-drawn carriage for a leisurely visit to Rainbow Row!
