This is the same as the other one!
Here's a second shot at encoding for proper 1080 and 60fps.
It seems that despite YT guidelines saying they accept any resolution video, apparently only standard 720/1080 video will process properly.
Understanding how YT processes video is always a challenge, even after 10 years (yikes!) of doing it.

UPDATE: Proper 60FPS version here: youtube.com/watch?v=FrfFypJ5qEg
Trying to get back in the uploading game, so this is my first try at an OBS recording session.
Quality is not 100% where I want it, but this will let me see how things get processed on YT nowadays.
Hope you're staying safe lately!

On the bright side it's great to finally have this game not looking like a VHS tape.
Hey there it's time for a new run after a long while. Can you believe it's been SEVEN YEARS since the first time I did this? I wonder if I've improved any.
Game: 1943 Kai
Final Score: 4,586,680
Pretty proud of this. I don't think I can do any better.
Compare it to my craptastic run 6 years ago (wow I'm old)

Of course, right afterward I record I discover I can hook up the SPDIF sound with analog video. Meh. I swear it didn't work before.
The volume might be kind of low.
Excuse my mad scrub tier skills.
Gonna need to do a lot better for Hibachi....
I'm not really convinced YT is giving good enough performance so I'll still upload a 30fps version.
Gonna need to do a lot better for Hibachi....

This is the ending.
Sorry for the delay, I was busy.
I hope you enjoyed the whole thing regardless. Finished just in time for......a 3DS remake to be announced.
I promise I didn't plan this.

What will you do in your final hours?
Wait and hope...?
Struggle against your doom...?
Flee...?
The final countdown begins.
6 hours to live.

Blast through Stone Tower at the speed of light. Except for that damn Chu room almost delaying all of my time away :V.
After getting the boss key, there is not enough time to do the boss room before Kafei's event at 7pm, so we head for the ranch and get two very differing perspectives in the inevitable moon fall.

ENDGAME.
That's how I always feel coming into Ikana Canyon, with time really starting to run out.
Climbing Stone Tower is a pain.

Pretty much the end of my free time in game here. Get the Chateau Romani and forget about running out of magic, infinite power.
After this its serious business to the end of the game for the most part. Gyorg went down pretty fast, can't complain. Wart took much longer, can complain.

Really bad luck on the Goron race. And doing it is required for the Gilded Sword. If I had failed one more time I would have thrown the whole run out.
© 2000 Nintendo
Doing seemingly everything on this night of the first day. It's mainly a big wait to get the sword back so I can go do Woodfall.
Odolwa wasn't too bad, could be better could be worse.
© 2000 Nintendo
All the requisite stuff done JUST in time, with only two minutes left in game time. With no sword, what can be done is pretty limited. Or is it?
© 2000 Nintendo
In order to get to Great Bay, you must get Epona by the end of the first day. In order to get the gilded sword, you must turn in your sword by the end of the first day. Time is tight!

In this one the run actually begins.
Everything went pretty well. I might add some commentary on annotations later.
Thank goodness I never have to see the intro cutscenes again.

Greetings. It has been a while.
The past few months have been turbulent. FINALLY got a real job, had to move, housing stuff, bleh. Things should be stable now, so vids should be coming sooner than once every half a year now.
Okay, so this run....is something I've wanted to accomplish for over a year now, finally managed it.
A single cycle run of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. The song of time is played only to escape the mandatory deku sequence, and the entire game is cleared in a single round.
Not only that, but ALL of the masks that can be collected in such a run, are. As well as tons of heart pieces and other random special events.
This is the boring first cycle, which has the (unskippable) story and short trade sequence to get the Title Deed....I use the time to collect lots of money which I need for withdrawing in the next cycle. I also pick up four heart pieces to get a 4th life slot early, which is incredibly useful in the early game.
Played on the original N64 hardware obviously, the Gamecube version is very unstable, and emulators are crap, except for MESS, which would take 5 years to play the entire game on my computer.
It's long. Set aside something like 8 hours to watch the entire thing in one shot. Yes, I again prove that I have way too much free time on my hands.

Man I am GLAD to be past these two games. Salamander made me SO butthurt. I will probably not play either of these two games ever again. That's probably what I deserve for playing on the hardest difficulty though.
Fun Fact: Content ID tags my vid before it even finishes uploading :P.

Ok! I finally got it, which caps off around 5 years of trying to get this.
Now I've beaten every mainline Gradius game (1-5 + Gaiden) as well as a few extras (MSX games, Rebirth, PC Engine version).
To be honest I would have uploaded it probably anyway because that was a badass recovery on the Moai stage. Remember that the game is set to hardest, so the rank is pretty outrageous at that time.
Man I miss 4:3 and having vertical space of game screen to look at :/.
Whatever final run happens will be like this.
Give feedback on what you think. Really, I appreciate it since these vids are for your viewing.
Background:
Gradius IV arcade runs at 512x384, which is a 4:3 resolution. That doesn't meet any NTSC TV standard at all so Konami changed it to the usual 640x448 on the PS2 port. The vertical is stretched horribly, so I run it in arcade screen mode setting in the options which results in 640x384 letterboxed. That makes it a wierd screensize on youtube. I can't tell if the graphics were redone or are simply stretched on the horizontal (with a filter since its nowhere near as bad as the vertical stretch).
Again if you have an opinion, leave a comment!
If it seems that I do a bunch of tests with videos, its because Youtube is 100% unpredictable on how it treats video, so I have to experiment.
**NEWS**
Not dead, just demotivated until recently.
I beat Radiant Silvergun's story mode, but the HDMI port on my Intensity Pro is dead, so I can't record it. Total bummer, but I'm not going to replace it until I build a new computer.
The silver lining is that the analog port still works so I'm not completely dead....a Gradius 4 run should come soon.
I really really wanted to record Radiant Silvergun ._.

This finally came! First play attempt.
No seriously, first time throwing the thing into my 360. I couldn't wait :D.

I was testing recording a PC game from a laptop. It turns out I won :V. So this goes up.
Strap in. It's long. Single segment video, so no save reloads. Cheating is bad =).

Back to our roots. The arcade version of Gradius II were my first uploaded videos way back in 2009. My oh my how far we've come. I was 20 when I started this, I'm 24 now. Gettin old D:.
This version of the game is a crazy miracle port by Konami to the PC Engine. A dual 68000 + z80 arcade game ported to a low end 8bit 6502! Truly amazing. The professional difficulty is the hardest configuration of Gradius II you can play anywhere, much much harder than the AC version on very hard.
I spent a week playing the game with no success. Then I discovered that my monitor has a huge amount of input lag. Passing the cable signal through the BLackmagic and onto a low lag TV made the game that much easier that I beat it on my third attempt after the switch. Hurray!
And once again the video editing was a lot of work, way more than I thought. Worth it in the end. So please enjoy as usual.
© 2001 Nintendo
The final day! I've always been able to do this in a single day so not much surprises here, except the sacrifice of my blues of course. This run was better than the last time I did it, where I lost all except some 50 of them, he he.
Hope you enjoyed as usual, you won't be waiting long for the next vid.

Day 2 of the Distant Spring is just as difficult as the previous day, because you have to take whatever result for the previous day and follow through to collect everything.
© 2001 Nintendo
Solving The Distant Spring in only two days was a huge challenge for me.....there are a lot of tiny things influencing the flow of the day. Most notoriously the RNG on the puffy blowhogs and the snitchbugs, which very quickly disrupt everything. I finally got a good one though.
The bulbears are very deadly and are a big risk to challenge normally, as there is a glitch that renders then invincible while they are attacking, letting them gobble up pikmin as they please. For that reason I take them out with the bomb rocks.
© 2001 Nintendo
Finishing off where we left off, I kill the few remaining enemies, completely sterilizing the cave environment. Most of the enemies would return on the next day. So we gather everything up and finish.
© 2001 Nintendo
Day 5 is pretty straightforward, since there are almost no parts to get. There is plenty of time to do everything and maybe grow a few critters in the process.
© 2001 Nintendo
The mandatory return to the Impact Site is very much annoying. However, it does serve the essential purpose of breeding the army of sacrifice I use later on. The ones you grow here are what you use for the rest of the game, so it must be productive.
© 2001 Nintendo
The Forest Navel..... Here I just straight up murder everything :). It's impossible to do that and collect everything, so killing everything is very much a setup phase for the second time back.
© 2001 Nintendo
My shmups have me FURIOUS!!!!!!!!!! Everything I try playing destroys me, it's like I can't get into the groove. I planned to have more shmup content ready to go but argh I can only take so much. Let's push it back some, and keep my sanity while I continue to try for success while uploading this series.
Right. Pikmin. I have uploaded a series of this before but playing it again recently showed me how poorly I played the game back then, disappointing me enough to delete the entire old series.
Redone and revamped, Captain Olimar is back and ready to drive his little slaves even harder. Inefficiency is NOT tolerated at all, the lives of the little ones insignificant to the pressing demand of the schedule.
The previous run finished the game in 12 days. This run cuts off three days off of that time and rebuilds the ship in 9 days. 9 days of hard cruel labor and sacrifice. 9 days of ecological disaster and untold amounts of bloodshed.
This is the mandatory first day which involves a ton of waiting for flowers to grow. So really skip this day and go to day 2 for the real beginning of the run.
(Also the PCE-CDROM version of Gradius II is hard on professional :( )
