Dutchess County K 9 Demo Aviator11100 2019-09-05 | The Dutchess County Sheriff's Dept. put on a K-9 demonstration at the Dutchess County Fair recently. Examples included how dogs are used to suppress suspects using deputies as decoys in heavy bite-resistant suits. They demonstrated how a well-trained dog can grab and securely hold a suspect until an officer arrives. Unbelievably, a dog can jump through the window of a car and retain a subject. They are also quite capable of pulling a suspect right out of a vehicle.This was quite a good show. There were vintage aircraft and autos of every description, aerial demonstrations, and this year a new attraction; Food Trucks!An AT 6 WWII trainer was giving rides all day. You could also get a helicopter ride if you liked. A gyro-copter gave a Short demonstration which was interesting to see. All in all, a very fun day.

There were Radio Controlled Aircraft performing aerobatics, custom cars making high speed runs down the runway, and a S. T. O. L. (Short Take Off Landing) demonstration. Two parachutists made a jump to a target on the ground, and as always, there was music and food. All was well until unfortunately, the rain came and shut down the show.

A Black Bear Comes for a Visit Aviator11100 2018-07-27 | This bear comes around every two or three weeks. I recognize him by the white heart on his chest. He’s recently acquired a set of earrings that make identification easier, although they do nothing for his appearance. First thing he does is to drive my dog nuts, then slurp up some birdseed and eventually, he ambles off on his never-ending quest for food. WORD OF CAUTION: Wild bears should NEVER be approached! Extreme caution is always advised when encountering bears in the wild. That being said, I wasn’t in any real danger as I was but two steps away from the door, and as you can see, he seemed quite oblivious to my presence. I hope you enjoy the video.
