How to Curl Hair: Loose Waves

I had subtle highlights and a slight ombre effect in my hair last year, so I'm dyeing it while all that regrows.
Most recently, I dyed my hair with Nice N' Easy Natural Dark Brown #120.
For hair that's a touch darker and matches better with Off-black extensions, I use Garnier Nutrisse in Darkest Brown #30 Sweet Cola.

♥ Other things to note:
-- The same technique with a smaller barrel will create tighter curls. So if your hair doesn't hold a curl well, try the middle-sized barrel (or a 1-inch barrel). And if you want more curls (the quantity of curls), grab less hair for each curl. It's like a math equation:

"Ribbon" Curls Hair = Ribbon Technique + Amount of Hair + Barrel Size
Amount of Hair and Barrel Size vary; "ribbon" technique stays the same. Did that just happen? Yeah.

-- Big Sexy Hair Powder Play Volumizing and Texturizing Powder - LOVE this stuff! And have gotten many friends hooked. Grab a sample size one and you may never look back...

-- I have fresh, clean hair in this video, but I prefer to do this on second-day hair. I use Garnier's dry shampoo all-over my hair (roots and strands) before I curl. Second-day hair holds the curls better. And I never care to dirty freshly washed hair with too much product =)

*I wanted to add a note, that prior to this interview, I wasn't using BeautyRx. A lot of you were curious about the line, as was I...so I asked about it. I've been using BeautyRx since that day and I'm really enjoying it (full review after a longer period of use). Beyond that, Dr. Schultz pointed out something that NO other general physician or dermatologist has ever indicated to me. He sees the whole picture and I can't thank him enough for taking the time to listen to me. I'm doing the follow-up visits with my local physicians and will share once I know more. xo

--Eyes: Milani Sunset Beach blended into crease for warmth + NYX Black Bean Jumbo Eye Pencil on lid only + Urban Decay Darkhorse pressed onto lid with brush. Edges diffused with beldning brush. UD Darkhorse to line/smudge bottom lashes. Regular eyeliner technique + nude liner on waterline using Billion Dollar Brows duo pencil; concealer end.
--Lips: Lip liner is part of a Bare Escentuals trio that's now discontinued, but essentially it's a warm, medium brown. MAC Lipstick in Flesh Pot and Urban Decay Lip Junkie lip gloss in Naked 2. I'll try to find a dupe for the lip liner, as I think it is key to the plumped look and color. Thinking MAC Spice would be close!
