Danny BannerPlease enjoy this Most Extra journey through my painting process of His Lordship Cesario, the guinea pig. It's become an annual tradition that I give my sister Bernadette a guinea-pig themed gift for her birthday. This year, Cesario is added to the collection! (Yes, the end is her real reaction).
Full piece probably took around 20 hours, but I wasn't keeping track. Oil on canvas, 8"x10

MUSIC: Eine kleine Nachtmusik" by MozartPainting my guinea pig as Mary PoppinsDanny Banner2024-05-24 | My YouTube channel has slowly devolved into the one video a year where I paint a guinea pig portrait for Bernadette, and honestly I'm totally cool with this.
This year features my own piggy, Miss Hazel, whomst I adopted last summer! Although I didn't have plans at the time to adopt, this little lady stole my heart. **It's important to note that I am an experienced guinea pig owner and know what all their care entails! If you're considering adopting, remember guinea pigs generally prefer to be in groups of two or more. Miss Hazel is a unique case based on her history as a solo pig, and more intensive health needs. Don't worry though, she gets tons of love and attention. :]
Painting was done in Winsor & Newton Oil Paints on canvas paper.

Music: “Beatrice” by Nono “The 5th Season” by Nono “Rain Puddles” by Ardie SonOil Painting a Tall Ship | ft. Delawares Kalmar NyckelDanny Banner2020-09-27 | Ahoy! Enjoy the process of painting this lovely Tall Ship to some sea shanties. The original Kalmar Nyckel was a Swedish Tall Ship (a traditionally-rigged ship) launched in 1625, and built by the Dutch. The name originates from Swedish city of Kalmar, with "nyckel" meaning key. She's best known for carrying Swedish settlers to North America in 1638, with a total of four round-trip voyages across the Atlantic, more than any other documented ship of the era! She was then sold to Swedish Navy in 1644, and was decommissioned in 1651. The ship depicted here is a replica of original Kalmar Nyckel launched in 1997 and lives in Wilmington, Delaware, and still sails worldly voyages today.
This oil painting was donated to the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation in Delaware to help raise money, due to the loss of funding and of education programs because of the pandemic. As a Tall Ship enthusiast, I wanted to help out in the best way I could.
