Well over a year since I last posted something new. This is a project I began only a few short days ago after hearing the song on a fanmix for Captain America: The Winter Soldier (which I recommend giving a listen to here: http://8tracks.com/annapetrovnas/this-is-a-cold-war). I love all of the films within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but for me, the Captain America films have made the most impact.I'd like to think of this as a character study for Steve Rogers (aka Cap) as he struggles with the disparity between time periods. He's lost and grasping for purchase in a world he doesn't fully understand, and it becomes all the more complicated as he discovers the truth about SHIELD and his best friend's fate.Hope you enjoy.
Oblivion | Supernatural k9lover27 2012-10-27 | "but oh god, now here it comesand it's too dark to aim this gun"happy halloween! :)Can't stress how much of a relief it is to have this video finally finished. I started making it 3 months ago, but due to schoolwork and other distractions progress had been extremely slow. It also didn't help that this song was an absolute nightmare to edit to. It's been a while since I've edited something beat-y and fast-paced, so that was fun, but it was also very difficult. I'm not entirely sure I'm satisfied with the end result, but ah well. It's done.I kind of wanted to explore the themes of self-reliance vs relying on others in supernatural. If you listen to the song in its un-shortened entirety its message seems to be about finding your inner strength and "fighting your demons", but I cut out the portion that really drove that point home, so. What you're left with is pretty...bleak in comparison. There's this underlying sense of a stubborn refusal to rely on others, and also the cost that comes with that refusal. I tried to put at least some amount of focus on a variety of characters who occasionally try to tough it out on their own. To The Grave | Supernatural [SYTYCV] k9lover27 2012-04-27 | "We are all helpless to the song." My entry for the Paradox Challenge of SoYouThinkYouCanVid. Song and clip info can be found at the end of the video. Our task for this challenge was to take something (a character, relationship, or general overview) from a show/movie/etc and portray it in a different sort of atmosphere than how it's normally presented.Judges Note: Supernatural, while at times can be outrageously funny/happy, is generally considered to be a drama with some very dark elements. With death being such a major theme of the show, I thought it would be cool to use an upbeat, almost cheerful song to explore its presence in the overall story. Death, as to be expected, is viewed as a very grim and often bloody affair in the show. Characters naturally try to defy it at all costs, but many succumb in the end. Despite that the atmosphere of this song differs from how the subject of death is portrayed in the show, I felt that the lyrics still fit very well. The brothers may have been able to dodge death a few (or a hundred...) times, but Death himself has made it very clear that the end is inevitable - just as this song so cheerily expresses.As for my editing, I decided to keep it simple due to the fact that the style of the song itself is pretty simple. The near-literal matching of lyric to image throughout the video was intentional, as I felt it lent a more whimsical feel that better contrasts with the dark nature of the subject matter. Hopefully I've managed to make this enough of a paradox! There was another video I had been debating on entering, but in the end I had decided this one fit the guidelines of the paradox challenge best.
I Am the One Inside You | Supernatural k9lover27 2012-04-22 | "Feel me in the faintest trace of sound."I had originally intended this to be my entry for the Paradox Challenge of SoYouThinkYouCanVid, but decided on going with another video that I felt better fit the challenge guidelines. Basically, in this video I wanted to portray demonic/angelic possession in Supernatural as being an almost spiritual/transcendental experience, instead of a dark and grim one. The interaction between demons, angels, and humanity in this show is pretty fascinating and I had hoped to explore it in a non-horrific manner. I chose this remix of Corner by Blue Stahli because the lyrics fit demonic/angelic possession well, but it also has a very airy, mystical sort of atmosphere to it. I Will Guide You In The Night | GoT [SYTYCV] k9lover27 2012-01-07 | "If hope is a dangerous hole, will you join me?" My entry for the 'No Effects Challenge' of SoYouThinkYouCanVid. Song and clip info can be found at end of video. Rated PG-13 for a very small amount of blood/gore. My first foray into vidding Game of Thrones. This show is a lot of fun to work with and I hope to make more videos with it in the future. The footage is so pretty I didn't even miss being able to use any additional coloring. Not using any effects aside from crossfades and fading to black certainly was a challenge though! Judges Note: I'll try to keep this as short as possible, as I know I have a horrible tendency to ramble. sorry! In this video, I wanted to explore the complexity of warring emotions (sorrow, love, hate, fear, joy, etc etc) that are continuously present in HBO's fantasy television series, Game of Thrones. Though I admittedly have not seen many GoT videos, it seems it would be all too easy to focus on the negative emotions rather than the positive (which is understandable, given the context.) When I chose this song, I saw an opportunity to explore the brighter side of the story, with the love and friendship between the characters, along with the darker side. The world of Game of Thrones is a pretty dark one, full of treachery and war, but through it all these characters have each other to lean on when times get difficult. And boy, do they get difficult. As for my effects usage, as per the rules, I only used crossfades, fading in and out to black, and I occasionally slowed a clip to make it match the correct pacing (slowing the entire clip and not just a portion). I attempted to include parallels when possible (like with Sansa and Joffrey), and tried to use the internal movement of clips to match with the pace of the music. As I wanted to give this video a more optimistic tone, I ended it on a (hopefully) positive note.

After watching the finale, I'm still in this state of shock and sadness over what's happened to my favorite character. I guess making this is my way of venting. So yeah, just needed to make something short and simple that focuses on Cas's inner turmoil and the shattering of his relationship with Dean. I just hope the boys will be able to help Cas achieve redemption next season.

After re-watching the vid for the first time, I couldn't help but feel the editing was too "bare," but then I came to realize it suits the song better this way. Draco, although reluctant, makes an unbreakable vow with Bellatrix that he will carry out the deed or die. Throughout their sixth year, Draco begins to get close to Hermione. The two grow attracted to one another, until one day Hermione discovers he was the one who had almost killed Katie with the cursed necklace (which had originally been intended for Hermione). Hermione confronts Draco, and the two fight. She ends up seriously wounding him, but is able to help heal and bring him to the hospital wing. Despite all he's done, she really does care for him. When Draco wakes up, Bellatrix and some other Death Eaters have arrived. He knows what he must do and confronts Hermione. Knowing she's in danger, she runs and he and the other Death Eaters chase her through the forest. He eventually corners her and tells her she has to die. Yeah, I realize this storyline sucks. lol. I had the day off so I decided to work on this Damon/Elena vid. I'm shocked I actually finished this all in one day. Venom | birth of a monster - YNTV Character Study k9lover27 2009-11-08 | m'kay, it's official. I suck at character studies. xD lol, maybe I shouldn't be too harsh on myself, but I had a pretty difficult time on this round of yntv. My biggest issue was inspiration - the problem being that I had none. I tried several different characters, but nothing seemed to work. Then my younger sis suggested Venom, and this vid took shape. Unfortunately, I only started this a few days ago due to other things in my life keeping me busy. Needless to say, I'm a little worried about this round in the contest. So in this character study, I wanted to go for something a little more dramatic and unique. This vid is meant to show Eddie Brock and his transformation into the villain, Venom, in the movie Spiderman 3. Eddie is a complex, twisted character that fascinates me. I purposely chose to use a slower, more dramatic song and simpler editing to match. I wanted to give the viewer a feel of the darkness and tension of this scene and this character, whether they've seen the movie or not. Sam & Dean - Never Look Back k9lover27 2009-10-31 | *Watch in HD in small screen* My first Supernatural vid!! I've been completely obsessed with this show for about a month now, and I've just recently got around to making a vid to it. Expect many more to come! =) This vid is a basic tribute to Sam and Dean, and their close (brotherly) relationship. I thought the song fit really well when I first heard it. Just listen to the lyrics. ;) Okay, so I'm not so sure about my editing in this vid. I've been working on it for a while, but I just can't seem to be completely happy with it. This being my first Spn video, it may be that I just am not comfortable with vidding this fandom yet. I'm hoping my editing will improve with the more practice I have with vidding Spn.
