In addition to lanterns, You can also use other items to make sand float in minecraft java, such as buttons, string, bamboo, etc. By placing the button, string, bamboo or other item beneath the sand, you give the appearance that the sand floats. Smaller profile items tend to work better.

I'm personally working on using this to make a pixel for an RGB Beacon Display, but I can see this having many other use cases where you need to send data and the binary on-off of Redstone isn't enough, and you need up to 15 data levels of signal strength.

Using Pistons, Slime and Honey Block to push stained glass through a beacon beam, I can configure the colors to display whatever I wish! I'm currently only using black and white to make a clear text display, I plan to expand it to allow for a complete RGB Display.

Framerates were a *little* low but still absolutely playable, but I was running with high settings; including high chunk render distance, 4K video, fancy particles, etc., not to mention Is was capturing video in 4K with QSV. Lowering Settings will help a lot, especially lowering resolution to 2K or to 1080p
Intel ARC A380 is part of the Alchemist Generation, and higher tier cards (A580, A750, and A770) should also be able to play with better performance. The A380 is only slightly more expensive than the A310 and is worth the increased cost.

Intel Cards have a reputation for having issues playing older games. I'm using one and showing that the A380 can play Minecraft: Bedrock Edition with RTX/Ray Tracing, while it did perform poorly in 4k, it was decent when lowered to 1920x1080. This is an ASRock Challenger A380.

Intel Cards have a reputation for having issues playing older games. I'm showing that the A380 can play Minecraft: Bedrock Edition with high settings, including 4k, and while it did chug a little bit, I was playing with very high settings, rendering at a 71 Chunk distance, etc. (And capturing simultaneously with Intel's Quick Sync AV1) Lowering these settings improved the performance greatly.
Intel ARC A380 is part of the Alchemist Generation, and other members (A310, A580 A750 and A770) should also be able to play similarly. The A380 is only slightly more expensive than the 310 and is better, while the others are higher end and will outperform. This is an ASRock Challenger A380.

Pressing either of the top buttons causes an item to drop onto a tripwire, which will power the pistons attached to the door, opening it. Tripwire hooks will also hard power an adjacent redstone line.
To close the door, we have to move the item off of the tripwire, and we do that by dropping another item onto a second tripwire, which will open the trapdoor our first item is sitting on, causing it to fall and no longer trigger our first tripwire.

Quasi-Connectivity Explanation: youtube.com/watch?v=u8FjwCdOv6g&t=156s
We have one piston per side under the door, and while conventional power cannot reach it, quasi power will! We use note blocks to update the piston to let it know it has been quasi-powered or de-powered, so that the piston will open or close the door. Tripwire hooks will also hard power an adjacent redstone line.
Because we only have one piston here, this solves the issue in my first design which would cause it to reset when the tripwire providing power would switch, causing it to slam shut and quickly reopen.
Will only work on Minecraft: Java Edition, due to the use of Quasi-Connectivity
Using tripwires to directly power the door enables it to automatically open and close as you cross the tripwire. Because there is no redstone, this design may be better for Servers, since tripwires don’t cause lighting updates like redstone dust does. Hopefully this will help control lag. Tripwire hooks will also hard power an adjacent redstone line.
There are some quirks to this design, like when the tripwire giving power switches, the door resets, opening and closing quickly. This has been fixed in version 2.0

The Ratings (subject to change)
Range: 10/10
My longest-range cannon yet! Can shoot beyond the horizon even on maximum render distance
Firepower: 8/10
Impressive Firepower. Packs quite a powerful punch.
Speed: 6/10
Decent Speed. It's no machine gun, but it doesn't have a long reload.
Accuracy: 10/10
Pick a target, any target...
Simplicity: 5/10
Not nearly as complex as you would expect for a launcher of it's capabilities, though not exactly a ten second build.
Reliability: 7/10
Rather reliable. Hard to target (due to being mostly underground) and doesn't blow itself up (unlike some of my other designs...)

An Elytra may be more useful, but wearing it would be mutually exclusive with the chest plate, and I wouldn't look as much like Iron Man without the Arc Reactor, so I used a Slow Falling Potion instead.
Currently only works in Minecraft Bedrock Edition, due to Java Edition lacking movable tile entities. If you want to do this in Java Edition, you will need a mod like Carpet.
Iron Man Mark 6 Armor: All gold armor, all using redstone material: Helmet is Dune, Chestplate Eye, Leggings is Silence, and Boots are Snout.

TNT Barrel is a component I developed over time to place a lot of TNT into a small area, to get a really big boom (and also firepower). You face three dispensers per Y level into a bubble column, face an observer into the middle dispenser (so that triggering the observer activates the dispenser), and place blocks (or slabs) next to the observers, place redstone dust on top, and then repeat going upward.

You can send Redstone Signals long distance and with very little infrastructure using this technique, which is to use string and tripwire hooks, which can run uninterrupted (and send signals instantly) for 40 blocks - That's two and a half chunks! A vast improvement against Redstone wires' mere 16 blocks, and calibrated skulk sensor's 20 (which is slower too).
In this example, I use a redstone light hanging from a fence line, to give the illusion of a hanging lamp that can turn on and off.
