Enjoy peace of mind when leaving your printers unattended with the Cloud, learn more:
whambam3d.com/products/the-cloud-personal-printer-sentry
the Cloud will only activate with direct contact with a flame for 3-5 seconds and will not trigger due to ambient temperature or smoke. Once activated it makes a brief explosion launching a cloud of ABC extinguishing powder into the air around the device. The powder quickly extinguishes almost any fire within its perimeter. Rated as a Class A, B, C, E, and F fire extinguisher.

1. Pour the dirty IPA through a filter into a glass jar.
2. Let the jar sit in the sunlight and allow sediment to harden and drop down to the bottom.
3. Siphon off the clean IPA and dispose of the sediment at the bottom.
Let us know in the comments if you have had success with this process or if you have other great ideas for filtering IPA!
We find that 99% IPA works best for cleaning resin prints and we use a lot of it, so we buy it in gallon jars: amazon.com/gp/product/B08LNZWXMJ

1) Dry your ABS filament before using it. To see detailed suggestions on DIY filament drying ideas, check out this video from Peter: youtube.com/watch?v=r8nNoDIp-Is&t=16s
2) You will need an enclosure or you will get layer separation and failed prints. The Wham Bam HotBox is a great upgrade to get right into printing ABS and other high temp filaments: whambam3d.com/products/hotbox-3d-printer-enclosure
3) Make sure to level the machine once it's heated to printing the temperature. Here are some tips and gcode for easy leveling on an Ender 3: youtube.com/watch?v=RJC7N4Vb9AY&t=19s
4) Use a bed between 100-120°C and a hot end at 240-250°C. Do not use your part fan till 3 or 4th layer and keep it at a lower flow than for other materials to help layer bond. Depending on your room temperature you can find the right bed temp between 100-120 to keep your HotBox at the perfect 40-50 range. If you don't have a surface that has great adhesion you may want to use some Magigoo or glue stick to keep your first layer down.
You need to also print on a build surface that can take the heat of the bed and the filament. If using a flexible magnetic system, magnets should be able to take the higher heats without failing. Common PC beds are not recommended as the High Temp of ABS tends to fuse to them. We are using the Wham Bam Flexible Build System with a PEX build surface which is guaranteed to 150°C constant temperature. Both the Ø310 and Ø220 kits have notches around the outside to leave room for the clamps, as the machines they mount on do not have easy access to the underside of clamps, this makes it easier to set up the machine.
You must work in a clean area, take your time peeling 3M backing paper so it doesn't tear around notches. Hope this helps!

* ABS gives off toxic fumes when printing, acetone is dangerous to breath, and flammable, so use in a well ventilated area, wear gloves and a respirator mask, keep the acetone away from a fire or heat source, use basic good sense!*
This only works on ABS with Acetone, there are other solvents for other filaments, but you start to get into controlled substances.
Polymaker makes a proprietary filament that smooths with IPA alcohol and is less harmful, a bit more expensive, they even make their own vapor smoothing chamber. I have yet to try it out, but would love to!

Printed on an Ender 3 Pro, with AMZ3D PLA at 0.20 layers, 80mm/s print speed. Bed temp 70°, hot end 205°, first layer slow (25% speed) and squished down well, enough for material to come out but nice and flat-topped all around, clean surface, no bed fan until 3rd layer.

In this video I am showing the installation of the Wham Bam flexible build system, you will see how to install the PEX build surface onto our Flexi Plate, although you can use the same method for PEI, PC or other build surfaces.
Work in a very clean area, dust particles and dirt are your enemy.
Our PEX is super transparent so you will see some hazing in the 3M glue, this is natural and can't be avoided but does not affect the performance or longevity.
Make sure you work from center outward with a precise strategy.
I am showing the dry method, I have taken down the wet method videos as some users had issues with trapped liquid under the surface. If any of you have extensive experience with applying decals and adhesives with soapy water or windex and can share your knowledge how to avoid trapped liquid please share, I would be happy to test your methods and share results.

You will need a function of the printer which runs around the bed and stops the nozzle right above each leveling knob for a few seconds before moving on, or a gcode which does the same that you can use via print function.
You will need to have your home set correctly. To do this compress all springs on your bed to half way (do this evenly and slowly one at a time just a bit at a time as to not bend your bed).
Once your springs are evenly compressed half way home your machine through the control panel. Your nozzle should just touch the print surface. If it doesn't, adjust your Z limit switch up or down until it homes at correct position.
Having your springs well compressed will give you more stable push back from the springs and it will hold your level much longer.
Now heat your machine to desired print temp (both nozzle and heated bed).
Once heated, run your leveling program or gcode. Do not push your hot end and bed around, this may create movement on the Z and give you false readings.
Put a strip of copy paper ( I like the heavier type - about 28 lb. stock) under the nozzle as it stops at each point and if there is no drag, move your leveling knob at that point until it creates drag. Try to slide the paper back and forth with a grip about 3" or 60 mm from the nozzle, you should feel drag on the paper. If you cannot pull or push the paper under the nozzle back off your bed until it passes. Try not to turn any single knob more than one turn or it may bend your bed, you may have to adjust each of the knobs together for first round.
Allow it to move to the next corner.
Repeat the above for all corners.
Repeat the process again, you will notice that when you move one corner it can have an affect on the others.
Repeat the process until you go all the way around all bed leveling knobs without adjusting at all.
Thats it your bed is level.
Now to set the gap.
Program your slicer to print about 2-3 skirt lines as far away from the part so it goes close to the edge of your printer.
Set your part to print, and while its laying down your skirt lines, inspect visually and adjust your knobs closest to print areas as necessary.
If the bead laid onto the bed is too round and high, close the gap slightly.
If it is flat topped and a bit wider than the nozzle width it is perfect.
If it is too transparent and doesn't flow out, your gap is too tight, you need to increase the distance slightly.
