Apollo Launch Tower 3D Model by BigRedTower

This is my effort to build an accurate Apollo LUT CGI model. Never completed, I worked on it between 2001-2010. It was created in 3dsMax, using NASA's original 1960s blueprints for the launch towers. About 95 percent of the main steel structure (75M05120) is accurately modeled.

This project has slowed to a halt because my computer is too slow to reasonably work with it. This short video took 3 months to render, with light quality set on low! As home computers get faster, I'll be able to post better views of it. This tower looks amazing in night time, with all of it's lights on, but it takes an hour to render 1 frame! Ouch! It would currently take a year to render about 15 seconds of nighttime video.

Glaring problems:
- Only 1 elevator door exists, all others are gaping holes.
- Hand rails, and kick plates are not present in upper levels.
- Cable trays below the 60ft. level are not properly routed.
- Service arms are only the first element, and have no second elements.

A huge thanks to the people at Launch Umbilical Towers Group on Yahoo! Groups for their hard work, tracking down the blueprints. This model would not exist without them!
