Hot to Craft and Use Plastic Explosives and IEDs on DayZ Archie Stormcloud 2023-04-07 | DayZ Improvised Explosives Guide: In this lesson, we’ll be learning where to source the necessary components for IEDs, how to craft them and how to utilize them effectively. As usual, I’ve timestamped this video for your convenience. Improvised Explosive Devices, or IEDs, are a craftable bomb which can be used in a variety of applications, such as base raiding, roadside ambushes, boobytraps and many more nefarious endeavors. Two variations of IEDs can be crafted within DayZ, and those are the Plastic Explosive Charge and the Improvised Explosive Kit.To craft the Plastic Explosive Charge you will need to combine one plastic explosive and a REMOTE DETONATION UNIT. To craft the Improvised Explosive Kit you will need to combine a Protective Case and an Electrical Repair Kit. Once you’ve crafted the kit, attached to the two ordinance slots inside can be any of the four available variants of grenades, landmines or plastic explosives. To arm the kit you will need either an alarm clock, a remote detonator unit or a kitchen timer. Each of the nonexplosive components can be found inside industrial buildings and storage sheds ubiquitously amongst the worlds of DayZ. Remote Detonation Units and Plastic Explosives are both unique rare items which can be scavenged within industrial zones. Areas such as quarries, construction sites, lumber yards and maintenance depots are all examples of industrial sites. Be sure to check scaffolding, storage buildings, accessible rooftops and palletized materials for these elusive items. PLASTIC EXPLOSIVE CHARGES:The steps to utilize the Plastic Explosive Charge are as follows:⚪Take the PLASTIC EXPLOSIVE to your hands to activate the prompt to “Choose Placement”. ⚪Once you’re satisfied with the hologram’s positioning, respond to the prompt to “DEPLOY” the ordinance.⚪Next, take the REMOTE DETONATION UNIT to your hand and look at the placed explosive to receive the prompt to “ARM EXPLOSIVE”.⚪Once armed, the remote detonator’s red signal indicator light will illuminate. This light will remain illuminated whilst the detonator is within the 50 meter range of the receiver.⚪Take cover a safe distance away from the charge and trigger the prompt to “Detonate”.IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE KIT:To utilize the Improvised Explosive Kit:⚪ Begin by taking the PROTECTIVE CASE to your hands and dragging the ELECTRICAL REPAIR KIT to combine them and activate the prompt to “Craft Improvised Explosive”.⚪Once crafted, take the kit to your hands and attach the applicable explosives to one or both of the available slots within. With the kit in-hand, select “Choose Placement” and “Deploy” where desired.⚪Once deployed, take the REMOTE DETONATION UNIT to your hands, face the kit and select the option to “Arm Explosive”. Take cover at a safe distance and, with the detonator in-hand, trigger the prompt to “Detonate” the IED. KITCHEN TIMER:To arm the IED with the KITCHEN TIMER, take the timer to your hands and select the option to “Set Timer”. The timer is set when you hear it ticking. Each of these elongated lines denotes 1 minute of time. Be sure to give yourself enough leeway to arm the kit and take cover. Once the timer is set, face the IED kit and select the prompt to “Arm Explosive” and take cover. Once the allotted amount of time has elapsed, the timer will ring and detonate the charge.ALARM CLOCK:To arm the IED with the ALARM CLOCK:⚪ Take it to your hands and select the “Turn On” option. ⚪ Respond to the prompt to “Set Alarm”. I’ll quickly explain how to set analog alarm clocks for anyone born in this century. The seconds hand denotes the desired time for the alarm to sound. 1 o’clock, 2 o’clock, 3 o’clock, etc. These smaller tick marks indicate increments of 12 minutes. Hold down the applicable action button until the silver hand reaches the intended time. For example, we’ll set this alarm for as close to 10:00AM as possible. Once your alarm is set, face the kit and respond to the prompt to “Arm Explosive” and find cover. While you’re waiting, you’ll have time to figure out why the f**k you haven’t subscribed to our channel yet. DISARMING EXPLOSIVES:Lastly, let’s take a look at how to disarm improvised explosives. To safely disarm the devices, you will need one of the following tools:⚪ Knife⚪ Screwdriver⚪ Pliers⚪ Lockpick⚪ DetonatorTake the tool to your hands and face the explosive to receive the “Disarm” prompt. How To Use Battery Chargers On DayZ 🔋 Archie Stormcloud 2023-01-22 | In this quick tutorial, we will be covering everything you need to know about battery chargers, including how to find them, how to use them efficiently and a quicker and easier way that you probably don’t know about yet! 🟢 Battery chargers are an essential item which allow you to recharge batteries or transfer a charge between batteries. Unfortunately, however, we cannot use them to torture information out of other players…yet.🟢 To use a battery charger, you first need to gather all of the essential components necessary to operate the device. These components are ubiquitous amongst the world and can be found in both residential and industrial buildings. Sheds, houses, garages, etcetera. These necessary items are:🔋 Generator🔋 Spark Plug🔋 Battery Charger🔋 Container of Gasoline🔋 Cable Reel🔋 Battery🟢 Once you have sourced these components, begin by placing your generator with the outlets facing outward. 🟢 Next attach the spark plug and using your gasoline container, refuel the generator.🟢 Next, attach your cable reel by taking it to your hands and facing the generator, which will return a prompt to PLUG IN the cable. Place the attached cable reel down for now.🟢 Next, place your BATTERY CHARGER in the desired location and pick up the Cable Reel. DO NOT UNPLUG IT. With the reel in your hands, look at the charger and follow the prompt to CONNECT the cable. Use the immersive placement hologram to situate the reel wherever desired.🟢 Next, face the generator to return the prompt to SWITCH ON the power. To verify you’ve correctly followed each step, look to this icon to illuminate when the device is connected to an efficient power source. 🟢 Next, face the Battery Charger and select the prompt to SWITCH ON. The Battery Charger is now in stand-by mode as indicated by the red light on the devices faceplate. 🟢 Next, take a battery to your hands and attach it by dragging it to the applicable slot on the charger’s interface. The battery is detected and connected when the yellow light on the device illuminates. The battery will begin recharging immediately as indicated by the pulsing green light on the device. Once the battery has completely recharged the yellow light will go out and the green light will stop strobing. 🟢 To transfer a charge between two batteries, all a player needs are the two batteries and a metal wire. Begin by taking the charged battery to your hands and combining the metal wire with it. Now face the charger and activate the prompt to CONNECT the wired battery. Lastly, connect the rechargeable battery to the applicable slot, as before.🟢 It’s worth mentioning that you don’t need a battery charger to recharge dead batteries if you have a powered generator and wire. You simply need to connect the wire to the battery and then the battery to the generator. 🟢You can also plug the Battery Charger directly into the generator, but doing so will drastically reduce the distance from the generator in which the charger can be placed. How To Find and Use GPS Receivers On DayZ Archie Stormcloud 2022-09-25 | HOW TO FIND & USE GPS RECEIVERS: 🗺️📟 GPS RECEIVERS are one of the most underrated new items available and an essential tool in a survivor’s arsenal. When activated, the receiver will display your survivor’s exact coordinates. Used in conjunction with a TOURIST MAP, players can effectively navigate the expansive landscape and precisely articulate their positions to other survivors. To effectively utilize this tool you will need:⭕ GPS RECEIVER⭕ 9 VOLT BATTERY ⭕ TOURIST MAPSOURCING ITEMS:GPS RECEIVERS and TOURIST MAPS spawn in hunting areas, such as: ⭕ GENERAL STORES⭕ HUNTING CABINS⭕ HUNTING STANDS⭕ FEED STANDS⭕ HIKING REST AREAS 9 VOLT BATTERIES can be found in abundance throughout Chernarus & Livonia. I typically find them in outhouses and inside flashlights, rangefinders and headtorches. To expedite your search efforts, travel to outdoorsman resorts and campgrounds. These locations contain multiple hunting cabins and lodges, as well as generally being surrounded by hunting stands and feed shacks. Once you’ve sourced the necessary equipment, take the GPS RECEIVER to your hands, ensure the battery is attached and follow the cue to “SWITCH ON” the device. Displayed on the device will be your survivors coordinates in the format of X and Y. Along with your current altitude above sea level. With your GPS still powered on, return it to your inventory and take the TOURIST MAP to your hands. Follow the prompt to “VIEW” the map to open the overlay. Let’s peruse the elements of the map overlay beginning with the LEGEND or KEY. The circled area here is the compass. The NEEDLE will be dialed to the direction in which your survivor’s torso is facing. The number centered within the housing is your orientation in degrees clockwise from 0-360. Within the GRID SECTOR section of the key will be displayed your X and Y coordinates. Also known as your EASTINGS and NORTHINGS. Which I’ll explain in detail momentarily. Your coordinates are displayed in decimal format. To avoid any unnecessary confusion, ignore these decimal points. Instead, use the integer value when discerning your location on the grid map. For example, 0.84 should be read as 84 and 1.18 should be read as 118. HOW TO READ A GRID MAP: Next, let’s learn how to read a grid map. Grid Maps are read differently from cartography charts. Allow me to explain. Gridlines do not indicate longitude and latitude. Instead, grid maps provide EASTINGS and NORTHINGS. EASTINGS: These vertical grid-lines are called EASTINGS, because they run east from west.NORTHINGS: The horizontal grid lines are called NORTHINGS, because they run north from south. When reading grid references, we always read the EASTINGS first and the NORTHINGS second. ORIGIN: The intersecting point, or ORIGIN of the given NORTHING and EASTING will be your survivor’s location. With that in mind, let’s use what we’ve covered to determine where we are in Livonia using the available coordinates. We’ll begin by zooming into the map completely to reveal the refined grid sectors. We have an X value of 0.84 and a Y value of 1.18. Let’s lose those decimal points like we spoke about earlier and we’re left with an EASTING of 084 and a NORTHING of 118. Beginning with the EASTING, we’ll search along the top of the map to locate 084 and draw an imaginary vertical line from top to bottom like so. Now for our NORTHING of 118, we’ll search along the sides from south to north to find 118. Draw another horizontal imaginary line across the map from side to side. At the intersection of the two lines, you have deduced your survivor’s location. No, not the kinds of traps you find in Hentai Discords. They sort you catch bunnies with. Those are:🐇 The Snare Trap🐟 The Fishnet Trap🐠 The Small Fish TrapWe’ll also cover how to craft each variant, where to locate their components, baits, preparing and cooking your catch and edible yields from captured prey. Netting and Metal Wire can be found within industrial areas. As well as residential outbuildings such as sheds, garages and outhouses. The SHORT STICK for your SNARE TRAP can be harvested a few different ways, but the simplest is to approach a bush with empty hands and look at it. This will return a prompt to “GATHER LONG/SHORT STICKS”. You can break LONG STICKS down into SHORT STICKS by taking them to your hand and activating the prompt to “SPLIT”. One LONG STICK will reduce to three SHORT STICKS. PLASTIC BOTTLES can be found in abundance amongst the world in all 4 tier groups. Mostly inside houses and snack shacks.A baitless trap has a 15% chance to catch prey. Adding bait to the trap increases your odds of success to 85%. EARTHWORMS can be harvested by equipping a knife or digging instrument to your hands and looking down at exposed grass or dirt. Follow the prompt to *DIG UP WORMS* to gather them.🐇 *SNARE TRAP:*To fashion the snare trap you will need:⭕ One Metal Wire⭕ One Short StickYou will also need bait. SNARE TRAPS can be baited with Fruit, Vegetables or Earthworms. Fruits and vegetables will catch Rabbits. While earthworms will catch fowl. Begin by taking the SMALL STICK to your hand and dragging the METAL WIRE to the combine section to return the prompt to “CRAFT SNARE TRAP”. Now take the trap into your hands and find yourself a clandestine area with little-to-no player traffic and look at the ground. You will receive a prompt to “CHOOSE PLACEMENT”. Once satisfied with the hologram placement, press and hold the indicated key to “DEPLOY” the trap. Upon deployment of the trap, open your vicinity menu and toggle the arrow to reveal the trap's contents. Drag your bait to the content section. Your trap is now set. Now run away.Survivors must be 25 meters or, about 80 feet away in Freedom Units, for a trap to be sprung. Each trap type takes between 15 to 25 minutes to spawn your catch. Once your trap has been triggered, the carcass will be attached within the trap’s contents section. You can paunch the critter on the spot, or toss it in your inventory to dress at your leisure. To reset the trap, look at it to activate the prompts and scroll to the “ACTIVATE” selection. This will rearm the device and can be baited for another catch. Your trap’s condition will degrade with each use. Therefore, each pristine trap can produce a maximum of four harvest before ruining. Currently there are no methods available to repair traps. Let’s move on to aquatic traps. There are currently four species of fish to catch in-game. Mackerel and Sardines can be fished from saltwater. As well as carp and bitterlings from brackish and freshwater. 🐠 *SMALL FISH TRAP:* The quickest and easiest trap to create is by far the SMALL FISH TRAP. Take a PLASTIC BOTTLE to your hand and combine it with a knife to activate the “CRAFT PLASTIC BOTTLE FISH TRAP” prompt. Next take the trap to your hand and look at the water to receive the prompt to “DEPLOY” it. Once deployed, follow the same process as the SNARE TRAP to bait it. Aquatic traps can only be baited with EARTHWORMS. The bottle will be positioned on its side whilst baited and upon capturing prey the trap will transition into an erect position. The batch of fish will be visible alongside the bottle. 🐟 *FISHNET TRAP:* To capture the two larger fish species, we must craft the FISHNET TRAP. Take the FISHNET to your hands and COMBINE it with the METAL WIRE and follow the prompt to “CRAFT FISHNET TRAP”. Take the FISHNET TRAP to your hands and approach a body of water to receive the prompt to DEPLOY the trap. Bait your trap the same way as the others. The FISHNET TRAP does not have to be completely submerged. If you're having trouble deploying traps in the ocean just step further into the water past the waves to place the trap without frustration. When the FISHNET TRAP has successfully captured a fish, the carcass will be visible inside of the trap. 🍲 *PREPARING YOUR CATCH:*To dress wild caught game, take an edged tool to your hands and combine it with the cadaver to process it. For land fowl and hare, this will return a prompt to “SKIN AND QUARTER” the beast. The loot class will spawn in a set location, but will also appear in the general vicinity inside vehicles, houses and outbuildings. This is referred to as “Splash Loot”.☣️ CRAFTING THE FILTER:Finally, let’s take a step-by-step look at crafting the filters.⭕ STEP 1: Take your PLASTIC BOTTLE to your hands. Drag the DUST MASK over the COMBINE section of your hands. (The outline becomes orange.) This will return a prompt to CRAFT IMPROVISED GAS MASK FILTER.⭕ STEP 2: Now that you have manufactured your filter, take it from the ground to your hands and drag the charcoal tablets to combine section of your hands to receive the action to FILL FILTER. Each filter requires a minimum of 1 charcoal tablet and uses a maximum of 10. Keep the surplus tablets to refill the filter as needed. ⭕ STEP 3: Now that you have completed your Improvised Filter, drag it to the attachment slot of your Gas Mask or NBC Respirator and you’re ready to get out there to Pavlovo and suffocate yourself for that slim chance to score an LAR with no magazine. *IMPROVED* How To Find Food Fast On DayZ (2022) Archie Stormcloud 2021-10-20 | This is an update to a previous lesson, so if you’ve yet to view the original video, I recommend you do so here: youtu.be/J-soU-CnVCcFRUIT TREES: We’ll begin with one of the most fruitful methods of effective food collection; Tree Cycling. Virtually every spawn location in Chernarus and Livonia have fruit-bearing trees within their immediate vicinity. Said trees produce APPLES, PLUMBS and PEARS. Familiarize yourself with the aesthetic differences between dried and rotten fruits. Dried fruits are safe to consume and resistant to spoilage. Rotten fruits have a chance to cause illness that will exacerbate starvation if not remedied expediently. All fruits spawn beneath the canopies of their applicable tree species. Apples spawn one-per-tree whilst plums and pears spawn in...pairs. With your vicinity tab opened, carefully peruse beneath each tree for fruit spawns. During this process, it is important to also collect rotten fruits, because if allowed to remain in their spawn point, no other produce will spawn in their place. FARMING ZOMBIES: Another quick means of amassing ample amounts of appetizers is by farming zombies. Carefully round up a pack of zombies and secure yourself in a nearby building with a ground-floor window. The A.I. won’t attack you through walls, thus affording you the ability to dispatch them safely. You can also use VOIP (or in-game communications)to lure the undead to your kill-box. In my experience, there is roughly a 1 in 5 chance that a downed zombie will have food, drink or a knife variant inside their inventory. The downside to this method is obviously the chance of becoming overwhelmed when that huddle becomes a horde. So, take cautions not to become food instead of finding some. VENDOR KIOSKS: Another hidden hotspot for easily earned edibles are these vendor kiosks located in most villages, towns and cities. Here you’ll find such filling foods as cereals and honey, which happen to be two of the most filling foods available. The spawn-points are located within the huts on the shelves, chillbox, counter and floor. Sidenote; be sure to climb the ladder to the roof as it is very common to find guns and ammo atop the structure. When looting the kiosks, make a habit of inspecting the inventories of clothing items spawned there as well. Because oftentimes they contain foods and beverages alongside weapons and ammo.LANDFOWL:The most annoying cocks in DayZ, aside from the Reddit Admins, are one of the easiest ways to obtain sustenance while on your travels about the landscapes of Chernarus and Livonia. Along with these crowing cockerels can also be found three phenotypes of hens begging you to come and eat their breast meat. Chickens can be killed barehanded and placed inside of your inventory given enough space is provided. In my experience, chicken corpses become rotten after about 90 minutes, giving you plenty of time to locate an edged weapon to skin and quarter them with. If you’re unfamiliar with the necessary steps to light a fire, take a look at our guide on the topic here. WINDOW SHOPPING: In a recent survey of my subscribers, most players remarked that, after spawning on the coast, the first places they check for food are houses. Houses can be a somewhat reliable source for food and beverage spawns, yet much more time consuming. This is why my method for quickly searching houses for food without unnecessarily wasting time is window shopping. Searching the shelves and surfaces of houses can be done from the outside much more quickly than entering and pouring over each home on the map. Most items can be looted right through the shattered windows without opening a door. Take note that you can also run the elevated trim and edges of some homes to gain a better perspective of their contents. This also gives you an advantage against other survivors, zombies and potential booby traps. FULL STOMACH STATUS: Finally, just because the food icon on your status bar says you’re full doesn’t mean you are. Continue consuming foods until the stomach icon is displayed. This symbol denotes that your survivor’s stomach is completely full. To prevent vomiting, stop imbibing immediately after this status appears and refrain from sprinting until it dissipates. Chernarus Crash Map:dayz.ginfo.gg/chernarusplussatmap/#c=16;-64;2Livonia Crash Map:dayz.ginfo.gg/livoniaSat/#c=29;46;3Helicopter Crashes remain a dynamic event where you can find some of the most sought after and highest tier loot available in the game. Items such as Ammo Boxes, Plate Carriers, Ghillie suits and NVGs to high tier battle rifles such as the M4-A1, VSD, LAR, VSS, LE MAS and ASVAL as well as hand grenades and landmines. At any given time there are up to 3 helicopter crashes spawned amongst the map with a lifespan of about 30 minutes. Which means that after the lifespan has elapsed. The wreck and the loot will disappear. Leaving behind the zombies shambling around looking for goats to chase. It’s not uncommon to see a chopper crash disappear right in front of you as you’re on approach. So, be expedient. HOW TO LOCATE CRASHES:Before we take a closer look at the differences between the two helicopter types, let’s first discuss their similarities. I’ll begin by dispelling one of the most common rumors and inaccuracies I receive regarding helicopter crashes. Yes, BOTH variations of heli crashes produce smoke. Billowing plumes of dark smoke will rise up from the chopper’s rotor and high into the sky. This can be seen for up to 3 kilometers, depending on your render distance settings. So, let’s get to the reason you’re here. Locating these smoky pieces of s**t. Heli Crashes still spawn in all of the classic dynamic locations shown in the many maps of Chernarus with the bulk of crashes being around Green Mountain and to the north between Sinistok and Novaya Petrovka. As well as in Livonia with the majority being along the centerline of the map. Links to helicopter crash spawn maps will be posted in the description section. You now can hear a helicopter crash take place within the vicinity of your survivor. The sound can be heard from up to 3km away. The soundbite will become fainter the further away it spawns and obviously louder the closer to you it is. Keep in mind that if you can hear it, so can the rest of the survivors within the 3km radius. Here is what it sounds like at a distance of 1km or less.The best way to locate downed heli’s once you’ve heard a crash remains to be finding the highest possible vantage point such as a smokestack or radio tower and observing your surroundings. Do this in an area where crashes are most common such as Krona castle, atop the radio tower NWAF or these radio towers between Green Mountain and Zelenokorsk in Chernarus. As well as the prison lookout tower and this smokestack west of Limbork along the horizontal centerline of the map in Livonia. Coordinates for all of these locations will be linked in the description. Once you’ve spotted a crash, take note of a reference point such as an adjacent landmark or the location of the sun and go for it. Beware that other survivors within a 3km vicinity will have heard the crash as well. So, approach with caution. Just because the zombies are still alive at the site, doesn’t mean some sweaty virgin isn’t hiding in the tree-line using the crash as bait. Loot quickly and get clear of the site as soon as possible. THE LOOT: The loot at each particular crash site is determined by the model of helicopter to crash there. Soviet MI-8 helicopters will spawn Russian military gear and weapon variations. While the UH-1Y Venom will spawn their counterpart standard western military loadouts. Crash sites also spawn a pack of military zombies. Including, but not limited to the armored zombies which can be significantly harder to dispatch discreetly. Typically there are no more than 5 or 6 of these zombies loitering around the vicinity of the wrecked aircraft. After you’ve killed them, be sure to check them for military gear as well. With both crash types loot will spawn closely around the hull of the wreck. However, with the Soviet chopper crash the bulk of the loot will spawn inside the fuselage. That’s this part for those of us who speak American. I recommend doing a quick rotation around the wrecks with your vicinity tab displayed so as to not miss anything on the ground. Items can be difficult to spot amongst the tall grasses and debris. Now let’s take a look at the most common spawn points for NAIL BOXES. NAIL BOXES can commonly be found on both levels of these scaffolds and inside of most sheds, especially these beige garages. Much more commonly, you can find a NAIL BOX sitting on or inside of static vehicle wrecks and inside of these outhouses located near most homes. Be sure to open all of the doors on the wrecks when searching for the boxes and don’t forget the trunk. They spawn on the front and back seats, floorboards, and in the front of the vehicles near the windshield. The second most common spawn location I’ve found for NAIL BOXES are the outhouses. The boxes will spawn on the seat or along the footer area. The only thing you’ll find inside the hole is your reflection. Now unpack your s**t-covered box of nails and you’ll find that they contain 70 nails and a piece of paper to wipe your hands off with. However, you can combine stacks to a maximum quantity of 99 NAILS. Lastly, before I go, you can also harvest nails by recycling base walls, gates, watch towers and wooden crates with a small penalty. You will not receive the original amount of nails back that it cost to build the aforementioned items. They are: -THE STICK SHELTER -THE LEATHER SHELTER -THE TARP SHELTER To begin construction of your shelter, you will need to craft a SHELTER KIT. Shelter kits are crafted by combining four SMALL WOODEN STICKS and a ROPE. Gather four SMALL WOODEN STICKS by felling bushes or breaking down LONG WOODEN STICKS. Take the stack of SHORT WOODEN STICKS to your hand and drag the rope over to combine them. You will trigger the crafting selection prompt menu.Be sure to cycle through the selection until you find “CRAFT SHELTER KIT”. Once the SHELTER KIT is crafted, take the kit to your hand and you will be prompted to “CHOOSE PLACEMENT”. Select your desired location and select “DEPLOY”. You cannot deploy the kit in a location until the hologram becomes solid white. Now we’re ready to begin building our shelter. To craft the SHELTER SITE, you will need to collect 50 SMALL WOODEN STICKS, (Yes, FIFTY!) as well as four LONG WOODEN STICKS. This process will take some time. I suggest using a tool or gloved hands to conserve wound dressings. Stacking the SMALL WOODEN STICKS into bundles of 5 will save considerable amounts of inventory space and expedite the collection process. Attach the sticks to the applicable slots within the SHELTER SITE MENU. At this point you are able to create the STICK SHELTER. If you plan to build another variation of shelter DO NOT build the STICK SHELTER. To construct a TARP SHELTER you will need to locate a four TARPS. I’ve had a lot of luck locating these in sheds and other utility buildings. Attach the TARP to the applicable slot within the SHELTER SITE MENU and you will receive the action prompt to “BUILD TARP SHELTER”. To construct the LEATHER SHELTER you will need to gather eight TANNED LEATHER pieces and attach them to the applicable slots within the SHELTER SITE MENU. You now have the option to “BUILD LEATHER SHELTER”. Hovering over the completed shelter will give the player action prompt to “PACK “ the shelter. However, keep in mind that doing so will result in a considerable loss of construction materials. Next, let’s cover how to gather TANNED LEATHER. Begin by locating GARDEN LIME, which spawns in sheds and other outbuildings. Next, locate an animal large enough to skin and quarter for their pelt. Chickens and fish do not yield pelts. Follow the familiar animal calls to track and dispatch them. With an edged weapon or screwdriver in-hand, hover over the carcass and you will be prompted to “SKIN & QUARTER” the beast. This will produce BONES, MEAT, GUTS and PELTS. Collect the PELT, take it to your hands and combine it with the GARDEN LIME to activate the “TAN LEATHER” option. The quality of the PELT determines the amount of TANNED LEATHER generated upon completion of the tanning process. So, try not to Sonny Corleone those poor bovine, okay? All shelters have an 84 slot inventory, which the developers say is subject to change. Take note that all variations of these shelters can be destroyed in the same fashion as tents. How To Build Flagpoles and Find Flags On DayZ Archie Stormcloud 2020-09-15 | Well Hello There Random Viewer, Welcome Back! I’m Archie Stormcloud and thank you for checking out this guide on How To Build Flag Poles and Where To Find Flags! In this very short guide, we’ll cover the variety of flags available currently, as well as where they’re most likely to spawn and the step-by-step process of building your flag pole. Constructing the flagpole is by far the most tedious base building process in DayZ so if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask away in the comments section. Let’s begin by covering the flags. Flags can spawn in schools, office buildings, bus and Ada wrecks, but in my experience they’re much more likely to appear inside of these small markets on the shelves and beneath the checkout counter. There are 28 variations of flags available in the current game as seen here. Look, there’s even a French Flag. How inclusive.Now let’s build the flagpole. To build a Flagpole the required materials are: - 3 Small Wooden Sticks- 1 Rope- A Shovel or Pickaxe- 10 Wooden Logs- A Hammer or Hatchet- 1 Metal Wire- 60 Nails- 32 Large Stones- 2 SledgehammersFlagpole Kit:We begin the process by crafting a Flagpole Kit. Combine 3 small wooden sticks with a rope. Once the crafting process is complete, take the kit to your hands and deploy the frame. Attach a wooden log to the frame and using a Sledgehammer, build the flagpole base. Support:Next, we’ll build the support. This requires us to attach 6 wooden logs to the base. Next, equip a pickaxe or sledgehammer and find a boulder. Look at the boulder and you will receive the prompt to Mine Stone. Gather 32 Large Stones from the boulder. This is a lengthy process. The Large Stones will gather between your feet as you mine the boulder. Next, attach all 32 Large Stones to the base and using a shovel or pickaxe, you will be prompted to Build Support. Flagpole:Lastly, we’ll construct the flagpole. Begin by attaching the remaining 3 wooden logs to the support. Next attach the Metal Wore, Rope and 60 nails. Re-purpose the rope attached to your Flagpole Kit for this. Equip a hatchet or hammer to receive the prompt to build the Flagpole. Now, take your desired flag to your hand and attach it to the flagpole. The flag can be raised and lowered from the Flagpole’s Support Base. To raise the flag, select the Raise Flag option. To lower the flag, select the Lower Flag option. Flags can only be removed when completely lowered. I like to fly my flag at half-mast in memory of all of those DayZ features and mechanics we lost too soon. Gone but not forgotten. Your Flag will lower automatically over 45 days. Survivors must interact with their flagpole by raising the flag for the persistence effects to remain active.Currently, the flagpole when a flag is raised will refresh the lifetime of objects within a 60 meter radius every 5 days. How To Stay Warm & Dry In DayZ Archie Stormcloud 2020-03-15 | ❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧Hypothermia Symptoms, Prevention & Treatment | PC/Xbox/PS❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧❄️💧HYPOTHERMIA occurs when your survivor is freezing due to their body temperature being too low. This loss of body heat is caused due to a prolonged exposure to cold weather or water, as well as not wearing the correct protective gear for the conditions. Rapidly resulting in adverse effects to your players stats, including health loss, increased calorie consumption and influenza. The earliest symptom of HYPOTHERMIA is shivering. Your survivor will cup their hands over their mouth and blow into them. They will next audibly quaver and rub their arms with their hands. Immediately after recognizing this animation, you should seek refuge in a warm and dry environment. When your survivor becomes cold, the temperature symbol on your status bar will drop until becoming blue. Once this thermometer icon becomes empty, you are suffering from HYPOTHERMIA.Let's examining the primary cause of HYPOTHERMIA within the DayZ universe; Moisture. Players become wet when they are exposed to rain or become submerged in any body of water. When your survivor encounters moisture, a status indicator appears next to your core immunity stats. Once you're no longer exposed to the elements, your moisture level will decrease gradually until you are completely dry. The longer you expose your player to these conditions, the more progressively saturated you, your clothing and accessories become.The 4 Stages of Moisture are:⦁ DAMP⦁ WET⦁ SOAKED⦁ DRENCHED Obviously, the best way to prevent over-saturation of your survivor and items is by avoiding the elements. Try not to travel long distances outdoors during a downpour. However, if you must, run beneath natural cover such as tree canopies and man-made shelters such as pavilions, bridges and awnings to buffer the rain. HEAT PACKS are a quick and simple solution to exposure. Make sure to wear them inside of your shirt or pants. As the closer they are to the skin, the better. Take the HEAT PACK to your hand and you will receive the prompt to activate it. Keep in mind, the packs are a preventative measure and not a solution, because they are not very effective at warming up a person who is already HYPOTHERMIC. Sprinting will increase your core temperature, but only for a brief period. The safest practice is to periodically take a break inside structures with an intact roof. Remove your wet clothes, take them to your hands and you'll be prompted to ring them out. Drying clothes and accessories can be expedited by placing the wet items down near a fire or by positioning your player near a fire. NEAR A FIRE! NOT IN OR ON A FIRE! Another, albeit much slower, option for drying your clothes once the rain has stopped is to air-dry. Run or jog continuously and you will eventually become dry. Windy weather conditions along the beaches or in open fields will expedite this process. DayZ has an ultra-realistic seasonal system. In the autumn and winter months, exposure to inclement weather conditions will exacerbate the adverse effects to your survivor's stats. During these seasons, a visible cloud of breath can be seen emitting from your player's face. This is an early indicator that you should scavenge for COLD PROTECTIVE & WATER RESISTANT CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT. Let's begin this lesson by taking a look at the CARP. CARP can be fished from freshwater water sources, such as ponds, swamps, lakes, streams and marshes. Next, let's move on to saltwater species. MACKEREL can be caught in saltwater and brackish water sources, such as the sea and various deltas. SARDINES can be farmed using fish traps in seawater as well, which we'll cover in a another lesson. FISHING INSTRUMENTS: You have tons of choices when it comes to fishing instruments. And by "tons" I meant 2. Those are the Collapsible Fishing Rod and the Improvised Fishing Rod. The Collapsible Fishing Rods can be found all over the map, but most commonly spawn in boat wrecks along the coast, as well as in boathouses and utility sheds. Fishing hooks can be found in the at the same spawn points. If you cannot locate technologically sufficient fishing equipment, don't fret. Improvised Fishing Rods and Bone Hooks can be crafted with ease. CRAFTING AN IMPROVISED FISHING ROD: To craft an improvised fishing rod you will need: ⦁ A Long Stick ⦁ Rope ⦁ Fishing Hook or Bone Hook ⦁ Earthworm Start by cutting down a bush or tree and gathering a LONG STICK. Bushes can now be cut down barehanded, but have a chance to cause bleeds to ungloved hands. Approach a bush and you will receive the prompt to cut down the bush. Next locate ROPE. If you cannot locate ROPE, just craft an IMPROVISED ROPE. Take a stack of 6 RAGS to your hand and combine them with another stack of 6 RAGS to craft one. You can create RAGS by shredding clothing items. CRAFTING IMPROVISED HOOKS: Crafting BONE HOOKS requires BONES and a KNIFE. BONES can be sourced after skinning and quartering WILDLIFE. Take the bones to your hand and combine them with a knife to craft one BONE HOOK. Attach the hook to your boonie hat to save inventory space. LOCATING BAIT: You can fish with an empty hook, but with a much lower success rate. For now, the only available bait to use in fishing is EARTHWORMS. To harvest them, equip a digging tool to your hand such as any variety of shovel, a farming hoe or knife variant and look at the ground anywhere bare earth is exposed. You will receive the prompt to "DIG UP WORMS". Once, the action is performed the worm with be available in your inventory. HOW TO FISH: To begin fishing approach the edge of any body of water with your FISHING ROD in-hand and you will receive the prompt to "BEGIN FISHING". Once the action is prompted continuously hold the action key to fish until your survivor tugs on his rod and withdraws the line from the water. If you're fishing action was successful, your catch will appear on the ground in the vicinity of your feet. If unsuccessful, you will retrieve an empty hook or even more unlucky, an empty line.
