In December 2003, an anonymous CyberNET employee alerted the FBI office in Grand Rapids to potential fraud at CyberNET, such as fraudulent loans and forged invoices. The Internal Revenue Service and United States Postal Inspection Service quickly joined the investigation.
Investigators quickly got in touch with former CyberNET accountant Guy Hiestand, who had suspected shady doings at CyberNET for some time. However, he had never actually reported it because he did not know the culprit. Investigators discovered that CyberNET had rooked four banks into loaning money for new equipment before depositing it into shell companies to keep the company afloat.
On November 17, 2004, federal agents raided the CyberNET headquarters on South Division Avenue in Grand Rapids, seizing the business and all of the Watsons's personal assets. Although he had not yet been charged, Watson knew that he faced decades in prison if convicted. He went incommunicado until the night of November 23, when he called 9-1-1 and told the operator that he had a gun in his mouth. This triggered a lengthy standoff with Watson barricading himself in his home. It ended when Watson committed suicide in the early hours of November 24. It was subsequently determined that CyberNET and the Watsons had over $100 million in debt against approximately $2 million in assets.American Eats More American Eats (Better Quality)Avi Forstein2022-12-26 | History Channel. American Eats - History on a Bun - Part 2American Greed Robert StokesAvi Forstein2022-12-26 | American Greed covered the fraud committed by Dr. Robert Stokes. While fraud can be rather stomach churning, the events surrounding this fraud were severely disturbing. Keep in mind, his fraud involved surgeries.
Dr. Robert Stokes was a practicing dermatologist in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He lived in a massive home that contained a personal pool, a billiard room, and a kitchen that sported an imported pastry oven.
Frauds he was engaged in:
In addition to the unethical behavior he exhibited (which by the way, I have only begun to start recounting), Dr. Stokes was involved in the following fraud types: 1. Billing for procedures not done 2. Billing an insurance twice 3. Unnecessary procedures 4. Billing both a patient and their insurance for the full amount of the proceduresBat Girl / White rioter in Grand Rapids tries to break windowAvi Forstein2020-06-01 | I was streaming the live coverage from WOOD TV8 of rioters in downtown Grand Rapids on 5/30/2020 and did not have the ability to record the video, so I had to record it from my phone.
Took out most of the audio (because I was talking over it), but added the perfect sound effect to this video.
If you're wondering why I am posting this video, it is because of several reasons that range from anger at white privilege, sadness at violence and property damage being done in the city I live in, and feeling hopeless that nothing will change and this is part of a cycle that will continue to happen again and again and again.
But there is one quote that summarizes my reason for why I am posting this clip for everyone to see: "A lot of comedy is about seeing deeply...seeing into the darker areas, but just being able to make a joke. It's the only way you can cope with something that is very unpleasant, very hard and all the suffering and the nastiness that's in the world; sometimes the only way you can cope is to make a joke out of it. But that doesn't mean you haven't experience that nastiness and that suffering, very often it means you have and that's you know why the humor is so strong." -- Michael PalinLeslie Forstein Anniversary Video How Leslie Makes Me FeelAvi Forstein2019-07-06 | Back in 2017, I had an idea.
I wanted to make a short movie for Leslie for our wedding day. Basically, the movie would have been a mix of setups for quick jokes, clips about love, relationships and quotes from various movies/TV shows/cartoons/etc. that expressed my feelings on Leslie.
Due to time and budget, I was not able to make the video. However, the idea has been bouncing in my head to this day, so I decided to make a music video with on of the songs I had planned to use for the short film.
Basically, this music video is a summary of what the movie would have likely been: clips from things I love that match how I feel about Leslie.
This is for you Leslie. I Love You. Enjoy!Avi Forsteins Bar Mitzvah at Mt.
