Eren/Levi SNK hydrazoite 2013-07-28 | ❝ in my scarecrow dreams. ❞I didn't want to write the description on this, so I let my friend do it for me;SUP BITCHESThis edit will make you then break you then make you wish you had never watched this goddamn show as you angrily close your laptop. And then you will find yourself crawling back to it like the masochistic sap you know you are. Let's go through why this video builds up this ship:You see all those hands there at the beginning? Broken souls. Eren and Levi are both so damaged from the lives they've lead. Both of them have lost so much (and no I don't fucking know Levi's backstory but we all know it's coming and it's gonna be tragic as fuck look me in the eye sonny boy you know it is so) and while they have learned to be strong, inside them is a person who is small, lost, and afraid. And what do they find that grounds them? Each other. You can see from the way Eren looks at Levi, that little spark of fanboy adoration speaks of such hope. Levi and Eren think the same way, they can understand each other. They're going to grow into such a team, strengthening each other. Of course, Eren also has Mikasa and Armin, and he loves them, just as strongly as they love him. That's a bond that will never be broken. Never. But they don't understand what to do with him when he's raging, when he needs someone to bring him back to Earth. Levi does that. He's done it from the first moment he and Eren interacted. (And don't think of the courtroom beating, I KNOW YOU WERE ABOUT TO, because that's a totally different subject about Levi doing what was necessary to avoid having Eren executed by a panicking mob ok if you wanna discuss this we can take it outside you think about all the OTHER interactions think hard). So, eventually, through all the fighting and loss and camaraderie, they find a new love to ground them both. A precious, beautiful thing to find in the middle of the cold, merciless world they live in. They find hope in each other. Eren, of course, becomes fiercely protective. He saw his own mother eaten. Right there. He was right there. And he couldn't save her. You know what makes Eren want to kill all the titans? So he never, ever has to see someone he loves die like that again. This includes Mikasa, this includes Armin, this includes his friends, and now it includes Levi. Levi is strong all the time. He has to be, for everyone who is not. He does not show fear, he does not back down. He barely shows anyone the more private sides to himself, even little things like how much of a neat-freak he is are only known by a few people close to him. But he is human. He has his moments, alone, at night, curled up trying to fall asleep. He has to. He has his nightmares, his fears, his own self-doubts. He's scared, just like everyone else. But him and Eren, together? They can rely on each other. They can trust each other with these little broken pieces of themselves, and it only makes them stronger. In their fucked up reality, where nothing is certain, not even life and death, they have each other as a sole constant.And just when you think everything is going great? Just when you see Eren holding Levi in the middle of the night telling him his nightmares aren't real? Just when you see Levi smacking Eren in the back of the head and telling him to stop acting like an idiot while they both smile at each other? This fucking video has the unthinkable happen.Levi dies. Imagine how Eren feels. He has failed. His angry, fierce protectiveness has failed him. Again. He went through so much to get stronger, swore he'd do anything, give up any part of himself, to keep the people he loves safe. He found this wonderful new love that had begun to heal him and kept him grounded through all this chaos and then he couldn't protect that. Then this video. This video is just. everything important to me. I really put a lot of thought into it, and I hadn't realized just how much emotion I had edited into it until I finished it. What really makes the difference is the people who write feedback, each and every one of you who takes the time to comment, or take time out of their day to write me a message, it just means so much to me [even though I may be a slow replier at times!]And so I shall talk about this video, why it's special, why it's important, and my take on the lyrics.One of the great ideas about art, music, and well, quite frankly, the arts in general, is that it's open to interpretation. You can take it where you want to, play with ideas, overanalyze, under-analyze, and yet, it's still not wrong, just perhaps at times less correct. And this is where it begins. I had found this song, and it immediately struck a chord with me. It was immediately a song I knew I wanted to edit. But what to edit it with? I picked No.6 purely because of the fanart. It's simply stunning. And as I was listening to the song, and contemplating recent differences in opinion reguarding homosexuality, I mused over the lyrics. I found it rather amusing that quite a few of the lyrics could be read into to represent this difference. ❝ 'cuz you can fall if you want to. ❞Falling. Falling from what? A state of perfection? A state of grace? Ideals? The interpretation of falling is vast and I was reminded of Nezumi's line in the anime quoted at the top. ❝ why can't we speak another language, one we all agree on. ❞I took this as finding a universal language, and yet, a spoken language is too limiting, there are too many to simply agree on one. Universal languages. Math? Maybe, but what's more than that. Love. Everyone in all cultures, all ethnicities, all religions, every species. Love transcends them all. For me, love should be genderless. It's no one business who loves who, and why. It's love. It's all the same. Why are we putting rules and boundaries on who can love who. Isn't that archaic? Homosexuality is hardly wrong. It's no different than a man and a women being together. Well, except the fact that they can't have biological offspring. But hey, our planet is overpopulated anyway /shot I put the Japanese kanji for love in this scene instead of the kanji for language. This not only represents the change of spoken/written word, but the notion of that love is universal. ❝ why do i always draw triangles instead of words this paper so deserves. ❞And this for me, is the most interesting off them all. I was talking to one of my irl friends about the song, and my musings [above] and she, having a vast wealth of random knowledge, posed the idea that during WW2 in the concentration camps, homosexual men were marked with a [pink] triangle to separate them from the rest. Upon further investigation into this, I discovered that this symbol has now evolved into a triangle with a circle around it as a sign marking a stance against homophobia and is now a universal symbol of support. I knew I wanted to include this in my video, as it was terribly fitting, and I was unsure how to do it, and I played with a BUNCH of ideas, and in the end I went with a super simple approach to emphasize the message and the symbol. Tying in with this theme of the concentration camps, the lines about "the crafty smoke that make us choke" I found was an interesting tie in, and needless to say, I really broke my feels while making that scene. So in the end, my goal for this was to convey my ideals into the video. On a more technical level, I was working on my animations and relaxing about beat hitting while still retaining interest and precision. I really poured my heart and soul into this, and I've spent like half an hour typing this description, so in the end, all I can say is that I hope you enjoy it. Because FCP was being a diva and wouldn't let me keyframe an image properly I threw my own green screen together and did it that way. The green screen was actually purple. Still worked XD. So yes. It's my hand... I did all that XD Next off. Man. I've been working on this project for maybe two weeks, more, less? Not really sure. It was really really challenging for me, I don't think I've ever been so incredibly emotionally involved with an edit. In the beginning I could only work on it for tops 5-6 minutes at a time because I just got way too many feels, and I had to stop otherwise I'd just sit and cry and cry and cry in front of my computer. It's hard when your favourite character dies, you know. Really hard. Right away I want to dedicate this to Trisha. Because quite frankly without you this wouldn't be around. I know, we spent hours musing over a song. And what is this? Not one of the fabulous ones you found for me. However as I was sitting there on the couch a couple days after you left, and suddenly my troll brain was like "Haha wouldn't viva la vida fit so well with L, the whole 'bells ringing' theme and all" and that was it for me. I had my feels broken, they were all over the floor I swear. I'm still picking them up and stitching them together. I've only really had a couple songs that have hit me like that, once was a NaruGaara project from MONTHS ago when I was still a newb, and I was walking to school one day, and the song came on, and I just stopped in the middle of the sidewalk. I probably looked like a moron but I couldn't move for the life of me XD Luckily no one was around this time to witness the complete and utter shattering of my feels.So as a result this edit happened. I mean, who else is boss enough to be not only the world greatest detective, but the second and third too under alias's. :'D And all his little idiosyncrasies. Just positively great characterization. I didn't watch this anime for the longest time [until Trisha convinced me to], although, my goodness, boy was I missing out. It's right up there with No.6 on my favourites list. The plot is just incredible, the concept is intriguing, and the ending leaves you with a lot to think about. It's just plain epic. So, to talk about the edit, [gee I don't really ramble this much, but this is kind of a big deal for me because I was so emotionally tied to it] there's some symbolism. The chess piece, fairly self explanatory, had a lot of fun constructing that, doing something new, something I'd never done before. It's not perfect, but what first attempt at something new is. The "puppet on a lonely string" lines with the corpses, I guess for me, is how L just became another one of the many innocent people that Kira/Light killed. It was my genius at 4AM this morning as I was working on it :') It also reminds me of Aokigahara. The suicide forest in Japan. I researched it heavily for a short story for English a few months ago, and many who go into that forest as tourist report seeing many nooses in the forest, especially little stick nooses. There's plenty of other stuff about the forest which is damn creepy, but also insanely interesting. But I won't scare you guys :') All in all, I really hope you guys enjoy the edit, I put a lot of effort into it, it's quite special to me. And I know I've been uploading a lot recently, but it won't be like that once school starts on the 4th. I have 3 spare blocks, so I'll have time to edit when I'm not doing homework for my AP English class :) But who knows. C O R R U P T E D. [450+] Sasusaku/Naruto hydrazoite 2012-06-27 | EDIT: OF ALL THE EPIC THUMBNAILS I COULD HAVE GOTTEN I GOT THREE PIECES OF CRAP. WHAT EVEN YOUTUBE. WHAT EVEN.Gosh. I can't even. My program hated this project /so/ much I spent a good hour and a half just getting it to export without errors, and then ended up piecing it together in a new project. ;-; And I noticed the quality took a hit, and also there are some random black bars that show up faintly from time to time, *flips desk in rage* X________XSo, besides that, hey, I like my new style XD This was a decently impromptu edit as I decided to take a break from all my other projects/mep parts. I thought it turned out quite nicely. And I made some more things animated =D With the helps of one of my lovely friends who cut out the parts in pixlr for me. I fail so bad at that site DX Anyway, I had a lot of fun with this, and I hope you like it. And I have an unhealthy addiction with Marina and The Diamonds because of mamorume's LoK videos XDI found a bunch of epic epic epic stock footage/animation, none of it is mine, all credit is due in part to its respective owners.
