A moment between worlds, where fire, light, and energy meet.

This was one of my options for the @COZCreationsArt Patron group's June challenge. The challenge was to do a swipe. I opted to enter my piece called GJallar, which turned out to be a good chouce, cause I won the challenge. :)

This is a simple swipe with damp paper towel.

Gjallar draws its name from Norse myth — the echoing horn that signals great change. This piece channels the feeling of something ancient stirring beneath the surface, a slipstream of energy cutting through shadow.

This is my entry for the @COZCreationsArt Patron group's June challenge. The challenge was to do a swipe.

This is a simple swipe with a palette knife on top of the basecoat. After swiping I wrecked the result with a chop stick I got from wonderful Sarah from @SarahMackArt .

I decided to go for a monochromatic landscape. Initially I had intended to add a dramatic tree on the finished piece, but once I saw it in a silver frame, I found that it needed no embellishments,

The Importance of Pride Month
Pride Month is a time when we celebrate love, diversity, and the incredible contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. It's a chance to honor the bravery of those who fought for our rights and to recognize the ongoing struggles we still face today.

Why We Celebrate
We celebrate Pride to affirm our identities, to stand in solidarity with one another, and to remind ourselves and the world that love is love. It's a time to show that everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity, regardless of who they are or who they love.

Why Pride is Still Needed
Even today, in many parts of the world, LGBTQ+ rights are under threat. Here are a few examples:

In the United States, there have been numerous attempts to pass laws that discriminate against LGBTQ+ individuals. For instance, several states have proposed or enacted laws that restrict access to gender-affirming healthcare for transgender youth.
In Hungary, recent laws have banned the depiction or promotion of homosexuality and gender change in media and education materials accessible to minors, which severely impacts the visibility and acceptance of LGBTQ+ people.
In Poland, certain regions declared themselves "LGBT-free zones," which is a symbolic rejection of LGBTQ+ rights and fosters a hostile environment for the community.
In Uganda, lawmakers have introduced bills that would impose severe penalties, including life imprisonment and the death penalty, for same-sex relationships.
These are just a few examples, but they illustrate why Pride Month is not just a celebration, but a crucial time for advocacy and visibility.

A Disturbing Trend
It's disturbing to see that some of us actually lose subscribers just for celebrating Pride Month. This shows that there is still a lot of work to be done in terms of acceptance and understanding. But this also highlights why Pride is so necessary. It's a reminder that we need to keep pushing for a world where everyone can live authentically and safely.

This started as a blowout for a possible deconstructed bloom, but I did not like the outcome, so I swiped the whole thing, and swiped it again! Then to add some drama to it, I tilted it to the extreme.

Jan C Art 2024-06-02 | Inspired by the amazing Tara from @PiecesofTaraArtistry . I have seen her make some amazing monochromatic pearl pours, latest a piece she made for my wonderful friend Cathleen @cozcreations. I just had to try this out.

This is a test piece on a 20x40cm reused canvas. I wanted to try it out, before going bigger.

I know that Tara uses DecoArt Extreme Sheen Obsidian for her pours, but I don't have much left of that, so I decided to try the DecoArt Metallics Obsidian instead. It works just as well!

Pouring medium used: 50% US Floetrol, 50% Golden GAC 800.

Paints used:
DecoArt Metallics Obsidian
Amsterdam Oxide Black
Mixed: paint:PM:Water
Obsidian mixed 1:2:0.5
Amsterdam Oxide Black mixed 1:2:0.75. (I am certain you can mix this 1 part paint to 3-5 parts PM).

I am repurposing a canvas for this piece. It is a double flip cup pour, with a crackled bottom part. I am embellishing the pour parts with some finger painting, as well as adding trees and a sun after the painting has dried. This was a lot of fun. The end result is not one of my favorites at all, but I learned a lot.

Be My Valentine x2. Hide N Reveal Acrylic Pouring Fluid Art Tutorial

I saw Jessica do a Hide N' Reveal using only QNAG and TLP Rad, and was in awe of the outcome, so I had to try it out.

I wanted to make a piece for Valentine's Day, so I decided to try swiping the paint in the shape of a heart.

The second piece in this video was actually my first attempt, but sadly I forgot to hit record when I started swiping, which is why I decided to give it another try, and post both pieces in this one video.

Layers My first Collage. Art Tutorial

Jan C Art 2024-02-11 | This was a challenge! Figuratively and literally! Cathleen from @COZCreationsArt challenged us to pick a package containing different collage items, and turn them into art pieces. I have never done a collage before, so this brought me some sleepless nights! I do love what I ended up with!

Initially I had wanted to pour on the canvas first, using the pour as a base fore the collage. As you will see in the video, the pour was an epic fail! So I came up with another plan.

I heve recently started making Gelli Plate prints, and I have loved the roll off papers (where you roll off excess paint from the brayer). So I decided to try rolling off directly on the canvas. I really liked what I got, and used that as my base and guide for the collage.

“Blue Ridges” 3D Mixed Media AMAZING outcome. Acrylic Pouring Fluid Art Tutorial

Jan C Art 2024-01-11 | This went from nail biting to being in awe! It is my first attempt with tissue paper. Initially I had not planned to create a 3D effect, but the tissue paper had a different opinion! The binder in the paints I used for the tissue paper was too powerful, and many of the sheets, I could not unfold. But I decided to try using the crumpled paper instead. And wow, what an outcome!

My wonderful friend Cathleen from @COZCreationsArt challenged her patreons to make a mixed media piece. We had to use tissue paper, crackle paste, stencils and the color blue. That took me out of my comfort zone for sure, as I have never used stencils and tissue paper before. I am stoked about the outcome!

How to Tissue Paper, Crackle Paste, Stencils. Acrylic Pouring Fluid Art Tutorial

Jan C Art 2024-01-10 | I made a stunning piece of 3D Mixed Media art using tissue paper, crackle paste, stencils, acrylic pouring. Video of the actual piece can be seen here:

In preparation for the piece I colored tissue paper, added the crackle paste and painted a moon using a stencil. I also covered the moon and cut out pieces of the tape, to resemble moons covering the moon partially.

I used Golden High Flow paints used for the tissue paper:

Carbon black
Phthalo green (blue shade)

I had expected a little more splatter, but it was a lot of fun. Maybe one just needs to drop the paint from even higher up? Adding AU Floetrol to the splatter cups made a big difference.

Pride Pearl Pour Acrylic Pouring Fluid Art Tutorial

Jan C Art 2023-06-24 | I wanted to try doing an acrylic pouring pearl pour using the rainbow colors on a black background.

I did not add any satin enamels to the base coat, because I found that the pearls took over a little too much last time. This time they did not, to a point where I think that I do need to add just a little sating enamel to get the desired amount of pearls. I do love the outcome though. I think all my paints could have been a little thinner. Maybe next time I will try with US Floetrol instead of the thick Malverk PM.

Pearl Base in Split Cup Acrylic Pouring Fluid Art Tutorial

Jan C Art 2023-05-27 | I had done some pearl pours the last week, and decided to test the pearl base colors in a split cup straight spin pour, knowing that the Satin Enamel would likely cloud the painting over.

I really enjoy the final result. Admittedly, I like the wet result, before the Satin Enamel went to work better, but htat will be something to try out in an upcoming pour.

Jan C Art 2023-05-20 | The effect of the Artist Loft Soft Body eating up the colors really intrigue me! After a not quite successful white base pearl pour, my wonderful friend Cathleen from @COZCreationsArt suggested I try the same colors on a black base. And boy I love the contrast!

After this attempt, I did do another, where I added much less DecoArt Satin Enamel Black to the base/pearl paint. That video will be posted next week. I think I wall also try a pearl pour where I do not add any Satin Enamel to the mix, cause it does seem that the Artist Loft Soft Body black eats the colors just like the white one does.

Shout out to my friend Taneva from @bakermodernart. She sent me the delicious Venetian Blue from Modern Masters last year. What a beautiful color! Thank you so much Taneva!

Blue Serenity DecoArt Swiping Acrylic Pouring Fluid Art Tutorial

Jan C Art 2023-04-02 | Initially I wanted to do a tree swipe using DecoArt colors only, however, the outcome after the initial swipe would now let me swipe more! I'm ecstatic about the outcome. The DecoArt paints celled up much more than I expected. I am SO happy with the result. Let me know what you think in the comments.

40x50cm gallery wrapped canvas.

Paints:
Base coat (also used for the swipe) : Prussian Blue (Americana) (with a squirt of Golden Fluids Prussian Blue).
Swipe colors: Ice blue (Dazzling Metallics), Aquamarine (Extreme Sheen), Baby Blue (DecoArt Americana Pearls), Teal (Dazzling Metallics), Enchanted Shimmer White, Copper (Extreme Sheen) and 24K (Americana Metallics).

All mixed: 1 pt. paint, 3 pt. Malverk PM, 1 pt. Liquitex PM, 1/2 pt. GAC 800. And only a little water in the thickest.

Jan C Art 2023-03-11 | After seeing @NateBrightArt 's awesome tree swipes last week, I decided to give it a go. I have not found the tree swipes that interesting, but the ones Nate made really spoke to me. So I had to try.

The colors in this video are shown in the video. They were all mixed as described below. The brown color was used as a base coat and also as the swipe color. There were no added Aussie Floetrol or other cell activators.

Mix ratio: 1 part paint, 2 parts Malverk PM, 1 part Liquitex Glossy PM (the gray label), 0,25 part Golden GAC 800, up to 0,5 part water for consistency.
