Here's what the current owner, Wes, has to say about his 450L experience:My take so far: I'm loving it! I haven't ridden a ton of other bikes to compare it to though. My first bike was a 250L, which I had a blast on. So that is my frame of reference. I love the added power and torque that this bike has. I was always shifting down for climbs and features on my 250, but I can mostly stay in whatever gear I've been riding in on the 450. It is a little on the heavier side still, but it rides significantly lighter than my 250L did. The suspension is an enormous upgrade from the 250L. Forums say it is softer than the X and R models, but it has the same Components, and I think it is set up great for trail riding. Thomas might be able to speak more to any modifications/valving changes that have been made in the bike for bigger riders like us.This bike has a throttle tamer and the Vortex ECU. I have not experienced the flame out issues that early reviews described. I've killed it a couple of times in first gear, but I chalk that up to inexperience and poor clutch control. It has not been a frustrating ride at all for me.It behaves pretty well on the road for what it is. It's not all revved out at 70 like the 250L was, and it feels stable at 75-80 mph for the short bits of highway riding I've done. Nothing long so far. Needs a new rear tire and I'm a pretty committed skier, so no big trips on it yet. I've done about 200 miles of dirt roads and single track around Lake Mountain on it so far. When you dive deeper does it sound like a non-partisan website? Do the complaints and closures sound reasonable? suwa.orgPerhaps we can find some middle ground, but full closure is not the answer. SUWA's argument is that people don't follow the rules when using these trails, but closing the trails to honest, hard-working, good people who enjoy OHV responsibly DOESN'T KEEP OUT THE DIRTBAGS WHO RIDE OFF-TRAIL AND LITTER, because riding off-trail and littering is ALREADY ILLEGAL in these areas. SUWA also complains that noise is a big issue and proposes closing vast areas of land because the noise disrupts hiking trails. This is painting the closure area with a HUGE BRUSH and setting a dangerous precedent for future land closures because sound can travel a long way! Many of these trails are so remote and hostile that hiking them actually requires OHV vehicles to access. Trails under threat of closure include every trail west of Highway 191 and north of town to I70: Gemini Bridges, Rusty Nail, Golden Spike, Gold Bar Rim, Golden Crack, Poison Spider, Monitor & Merimac, Seven Mile Rim, Bull Canyon, White Wash Dunes, 10 Mile Canyon, Bartlett, Tusher, Determination Towers, Mashed Potatoes, Secret Spire, Dubinky, 3D, Dead Cow, The Tubes, and all the atv/single-track surrounding the dunes. These trails are all currently legal and most actually see very little use, but they're under threat of closure from out-of-state lobbyists.
Total NOOB with the DJI FPV. Can I Make a Decent Cinematic? eveRide 2021-03-30 | Can an FPV Noob Create a Decent Dirt Bike Cinematic with Under 10 ACRO Flights?Early March was my first ever flight with an actual FPV drone in full ACRO mode, but I've got about 30 hours in the FPV simulator "Liftoff"... most from about two years ago when I bought an FPV system but gave up because I didn't have time to get the components working together.DJI's new FPV system takes the guesswork, Betaflight programming, and soldering out of the equation, which gives techno-morons like me the ability to put years of hand-eye-coordination and video game addiction that my mom said would never serve a purpose to good use! This thing flies right out of the box, although a few tweaks were needed to go full ACRO. A quick warning, if you buy one of these, spend a TON of time in the simulator before you switch to full manual (ACRO) mode! I sent this thing into a cliffside at about 60 mph on my second flight ever... I was flying at golden hour so it got dark before I could recover the drone, and it snowed that night! Luckily it survived both the snowstorm and the crash with only a broken prop!I still have a long way to go with FPV camera work... you can tell my stick movements are still pretty ham-fisted and not as "flowy" as other FPV pilots for sure. DJI will hopefully release some additional camera magic with upcoming firmware for the DJI FPV drone to smooth things out even more. (I'd really rather not pay moolah for a stabilizer like Reelsteady.) However, with a boatload of practice... They were absolutely SENDING IT off these huge kickers. I parked my truck, hiked about half a mile to where they were hucking, and awkwardly asked if I could film them with my new drone. No lie guys, I really did quit 99.99% of the internet, and I didn't see Traction eRag's recent "That Guy" video. I QUIT THE INTERNET to Ride DIRT BIKES Instead... and My 2020 was AMAZING! eveRide 2021-01-28 | Yes... I really did quit the internet by using a crazy filter called "Qustodio" and blocking nearly everything but email, local news, and shopping. That means I have to get the password from my wife to access Facebook, IG, and even YouTube. I was worried it would kill my business, but money isn't everything. Quitting the internet turned 2020 from one of the worst years of my life into one of the best! It's all a matter of perspective!
2022 KAWASAKI KLR 650 ANNOUNCED! Whats NEW and Whats OLD?! Check it Out With Me! eveRide 2021-01-26 | The NEW 2022 Kawasaki KLR 650 has been UPDATED! What's different about this new KLR650? 3 different models, the Base, the Traveler, and the Adventure. The 2022 KLR 650 Base Model has optional ABS and comes in a very cool sand khaki color. The KLR 650 Traveler model ONLY comes in the orang/red color and includes ABS, a top case, and usb/dc ports for $400 more. The ADVENTURE version is $1000 more and comes in the very cool gray camo color, with a lightbar, panniers, "frame sliders", and a few other goodies for $1000 more. The big updates? The KLR 650 now comes with optional ABS. ABS is fantastic on the road, but let's hope it's not an annoying feature that can be turned off easily (and stays off). The new 2022 KLR 650 has an updated digital speedo, an adjustable windscreen, a larger rear rack, and FINALLY has fuel injection! The front fairing is a hair different, and it looks like they *might* have changed the fuel tank, but just barely. It now has an updated LED headlight, and looks to have an updated tail light and higher blinkers. It looks like this version WILL PRODUCE MORE TORQUE! 39 ft lbs vs about 33 before.What's the same? Well... just about everything else! It looks like it'll have the same suspension, same travel, close to the same ground clearance and seat height. Same seat. Even the same stock tires as before.What's worrying? It doesn't look like they've fixed the very bad stock footpegs that are prone to snap off. It still has a 5 speed transmission, and horsepower looks to be unchanged as well. The exhaust can looks to be the same heavy one from the 80s. The adventure model comes at nearly $8000 for some lights, panniers, and cool graphics, but that's inching close to the price of the very good Yamaha Tenere 700. DJI Mavic Mini 2 Review - Range Test, Battery Life , & App Issues eveRide 2020-11-07 | The DJI Mini 2, the predecessor to DJI's popular Mavic Mini, has arrived and on paper, it looks INCREDIBLE. Longer flight times (31 minutes according to DJI), 4k at 30fps, and Ocusync 2.0 for a stated range of 6+ miles, all while staying under 250 grams made this drone irresistible to me. So I picked it up day 1, and I'm hoping it will be my go-to flyer for my moto-videography business. How will it fare on its first flight? Will it get the promised range, battery life, and be chock full of droney goodness?I've had problems with DJI's recent Mavic Air 2. App crashes, gimbal flops, mediocre range, and meh battery life meant it had to go back to DJI for a refund.
