Corfu’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, shaped by centuries of Venetian, French, and British rule. As you walk through the narrow streets known as kantounia, you’ll notice the strong Italian influence in the architecture, pastel buildings, and historic arcades.

Spring is one of the best times to visit because the temperatures are comfortable, the crowds are smaller, and you can explore the old town at a much more relaxed pace. Globe Travel Adventures 2026-03-15 | The Old Fortress in Corfu is one of the most impressive historic landmarks on the island. Sitting on a rocky peninsula at the edge of Old Town, the fortress offers incredible views across Corfu Town, the Ionian Sea, and Spianada Square.

Originally fortified by the Venetians in the 16th century, the Old Fortress played a crucial role in defending the island from Ottoman invasions. Today it’s one of the top things to do in Corfu Town and a great place to explore history while enjoying some of the best viewpoints on the island.

In this video, I explore the Old Fortress of Corfu, including the climb up to the lighthouse viewpoint, which is absolutely worth it for the panoramic views over the old town. Inside the fortress walls you’ll also find the impressive Church of Saint George, a neoclassical building that looks more like an ancient Greek temple than a traditional church.

I’ll also cover practical travel information including the ticket price, opening hours, and what to expect when visiting the fortress.

If you're planning a trip to Corfu Greece, the Old Fortress is definitely one of the must-see attractions in Corfu Town.

The Hanoi Train Experience (VIP Carriage Tour) Vietnam’s Most Unique Cultural Train Ride

Globe Travel Adventures 2026-03-11 | Experience one of the most unique cultural activities in Hanoi — the Hanoi Heritage Train. This special train journey offers a fascinating look into Vietnamese culture, history, and traditional music while travelling just outside the city.

In this video, I take the VIP carriage on the Hanoi Heritage Train to see what the experience is really like. Tickets include a reserved seat in your chosen carriage, traditional Vietnamese snacks, live music performances, and storytelling about the history of Vietnam.

One interesting detail is that once you choose your carriage, that’s where you stay for the entire journey. You can walk around inside your carriage, but you generally can’t move between the different cars during the trip. At the start of the ride, guests are welcomed with a small traditional Vietnamese sweet cake wrapped in a leaf, adding to the cultural atmosphere.

The train runs morning and afternoon services, and it’s best to book tickets in advance, as seats are allocated when you reserve. During the journey, music plays onboard while guides share stories about Vietnamese culture and history.

The trip also includes a guided walk through historic temples, where visitors can learn more about Vietnam’s past and traditional architecture. The tour commentary is mainly in Vietnamese, as the experience is primarily designed for local travelers, but it’s still a fascinating cultural experience for international visitors.

Globe Travel Adventures 2026-03-10 | Explore Butrint National Park, one of the most important archaeological sites in the Balkans and a UNESCO World Heritage site located in southern Albania. Just a short trip from Sarandë and only minutes from Ksamil, Butrint offers visitors the chance to walk through more than 2,000 years of history surrounded by forests, wetlands, and lagoons.

In this Globe Travel Adventures video, we explore the ancient ruins of Butrint including the famous Greek theatre, Roman baths, defensive walls, and early Christian basilicas. Once an important Greek and later Roman city, Butrint became a major trading centre along the Ionian coast before eventually being abandoned during the Middle Ages.

Today the site is one of Albania’s most impressive historical attractions. Entry to the park costs 1000 Albanian Lek (around €10), making it an affordable and fascinating day trip for travellers exploring the Albanian Riviera.

Globe Travel Adventures 2026-02-16 | Copperlode Dam is one of the most underrated places near Cairns. Just a 40 minute drive from Cairns CBD, this free and easy day trip takes you inland into cooler air, rainforest views, and wide open lookouts over the dam and lake.

Built in the early 1970s, Copperlode Dam is the main water supply for Cairns and surrounding areas. While swimming isn’t allowed, the area is open to the public and surprisingly well set up, with free BBQ facilities, picnic tables, toilets, playgrounds, and multiple lookout points.

There’s also an information and history area that explains how the dam was built and why it’s such a critical piece of infrastructure for Far North Queensland. It’s a quiet spot, rarely crowded, and perfect if you want something local, free, and different from the usual reef and beach itinerary.

If you’re visiting Cairns, or even if you live here and haven’t been yet, Copperlode Dam is worth the short drive for the views alone.

Just two hours south of Hanoi, this region was once the heart of the very first Vietnamese kingdom — the ancient capital of Hoa Lư in the 10th century. Today, it’s famous for its dramatic limestone mountains, calm rivers, rice fields and wetlands that form what many people call “Ha Long Bay on land.”

In this video, I take you on a short day trip through Ninh Binh, Tràng An and Tam Cốc, staying at a peaceful riverside homestay, exploring the caves by boat, and checking out some of the best viewpoints in Northern Vietnam.
