After almost 10 years on the AMT Board, including the past two as Chair, Geoff Shuetrim is stepping down. We thank Geoff for his extraordinary contribution to the organisation and to mathematics and informatics education for Australian students.
Taking over as Chair is David Williams, who brings experience as a Board and finance committee member and a former AMT Deputy CEO.
We're also delighted to announce that Danny Pikler will join AMT as our new CEO later this year. Danny brings a strong STEM background, having built and grown a business in student science education, along with a long-standing connection to the AMT community.

Terry won a Gold medal at IMO in 1988 in Canberra and is still the youngest ever winner of an IMO gold medal. He was born in Adelaide, Australia in 1975. He has been a professor of mathematics at UCLA since 1999, having completed his PhD under Elias Stein at Princeton in 1996.
Tao’s areas of research include harmonic analysis, PDE, combinatorics, and number theory. He has received a number of awards, including the Salem Prize in 2000, the Fields Medal in 2006, the MacArthur Fellowship in 2007, the Crafoord prize in 2012, and the Breakthrough Prize in Mathematics in 2015. Terence Tao also holds the James and Carol Collins Chair in mathematics at UCLA, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society, the Australian Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Recently two of our Olympiads, Cloris Xu and Iris Xu both in Year 12 at Baulkham Hills High School, NSW, went on ABC Radio Sydney to speak about all things maths and their upcoming trip to the United Kingdom for the 2024 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO)!
The Olympiad students reflected on this being their fifth time representing Australia across two Olympiads: IMO and the European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad. "We are very excited and for maths Olympians; every competition is very special. But with this being our last year, it feels particularly meaningful."
