Gouache:

Paper: Rough or cold press watercolor paper, at least 140 lb
Brush:
- small and pointy (N7 Loew-Cornell, round 7000)
- wider flat and pointy (1" Silver Black Velvet, 3009S Oval)
- throw-away brush to work with wax
Wax or liquid masking fluid,
Masking tape, preferably waterproof, acid-free,

I have different kinds in my studio. What you should pay attention to is the intensity of the pigment (the stronger the better).
Note, that some pigments can stain.
Gouache paints have more ash, so they are not as transparent, but could be removed from the paper easier.

Use wax medium. It is easy to apply over the finished artwork by using a spatula. Make sure your paper is fully dry.
This will coat your painting with a transparent hardly noticeable water resistant layer. Note: you will not be able to paint on top of this laver any longer.
This trick will work even if you don't want to use glass when framing!
Recommended wax medium options:
- Gambil Cold Wax Medium;
- Donald's Wax Medium.
