When you visit the Shrine of Azura for the first time, priestess of Azura named Aranea will offer you the required quest to obtain this item, "The Black Star" quest.There are 2 versions of the item: Azura's Star and Black Star. The version will be determined by the person you take the broken star after finding it:- taking it to Aranea will result in Azura's Star- taking it to Nelacar will result in Black StarThe difference is somewhat meaningful: while Azura's Star can hold only white souls (non-human/non-humanoids), the Black Star can hold all souls. For this reason the Black Star is considered to be the best choice.Nelacar makes an argument about the Black Star being able to hold only black souls (humans and humanoids), but possibly due to a bug, the Black Star can hold all possible souls available (confirmed on PC, tested myself).-----For those who dont know: this Star gem is the best gem for enchanting and recharging magical items, since it will not be destroyed when used. All other soul gems are always destroyed when used, but this Star can be used over and over again. The Star gem can hold only one soul at a time

First make a promise to Sinding to spare his life, then kill him after the quest is completed.- The armor is pretty good light armor, when you get it to legendary level, with effects of increased Magic Resistance by 15% and increased Poison Resistance by 50%. If you're playing as Redguard or Wood Elf, the armor will make you 100% resistance to poison.- The ring will give you one additional transformation into the beast form per day. Great ring for those who prefer using beast form more often.
