For longer reading sessions I'd still choose my Kindle or a Kobo with a 7 inch display, so it becomes a question of which is best when I'm out. The X3 still has the better battery, even if only by four days, and the sharper display too. But above all, I almost forget I've got it in my pocket, and it fits perfectly on the back of my phone. The X4 Classic isn't a huge jump in size, but I noticed it more, and it doesn't fit as well on my phone, with the bottom running over the edge. For many, the X4 Classic will be the better choice, with the general improvements and bigger display for reading. How is the Xteink X4 Classic Thinner Than the X3? Charlie Samways 2026-09-14 | The Xteink X4 Classic is incredibly light, just 68g, only 10g more than the X3. What's genuinely impressive is that it's actually thinner than the X3, at just 4.9mm. It keeps physical buttons rather than going with a touchscreen like the X4 Pro, and I think buttons work better on mini e-readers anyway, less risk of touchscreen issues, and there's something comforting about physical page turns. The buttons are mostly the same as the X3 and previous X4, though the power button shifts to the side and the reset button moves to the opposite side at the top. Xteink X4 Classic vs X3: The Upgrade Has a Surprising Downgrade Charlie Samways 2026-09-11 | Xteink just released their latest device, but it might not be what you're expecting. After discontinuing the original X4, it looked like that would be the end of the model. Instead, they've released the upgraded X4 Classic. It has a 4.3 inch display, larger than the X3's 3.7 inch, making reading feel more comfortable. But the X4's display is 219 PPI, lower than the X3's 259 and a Paperwhite's 300, meaning you get a sharper reading experience on those other devices. That's one reason I still prefer the X3.
