First trials event in quite awhile, and felt great to be out there. Had quite a few bobbles, but hey, all good fun. Section 7 got me good twice. So it goes. Looking forward to getting back out there.
Video cut out after an hour or so. Pretty happy with my ride, though it took me awhile to get into a decent groove. So it goes
1st 40+
8th OA.
I was quite happy to be on my 350 for this event vs my 150 earlier in the year. The added sands, the 350 made easy work if and when I'd second guess myself and needed some quick power. Downside for the race was my hands were absolutely ripped to shreds by the 2nd to last lap. Last lap saw me making a handful of mistakes causing a few silly crashes. But so it goes.
Happy with my result in the 30+ class (1st) and overall (9th). Also quite thankful for it being more of a dry heat. Who could have guessed it would be 85°+ in October in the Midwest! Great times.

Made some mistakes on lap 1 and 4. Lap 2 the dirt felt the best, but lap 3 I was riding smoother, despite more of the roots being a pain and had my best lap. Lap 4 I managed a swan dive near the end of the loop when I caught the side of a trail.
This trip I was riding my 2019 350exc instead of my 150xcw. I was anticipating (hoping) getting into some of the deeper sands and more flowy stuff where the 4T really shines, but they had other plans in store. The 350 was still a great choice, but I think the lighter 150 woulda helped me push a bit harder\quicker through some of the tighter stuff and been a little easier on my body. So it goes.
All in all, great trails, great event, great weather. Next year I'll have to get up in time to take a stab at the club race they put on on Saturday evening. Thanks to the UP Sandstormers for all the hard work they do for these events.

I have a thing for rocking the wrong tool for the job. With all my seat time on my 150 recently and less on my 350, and having raced this event twice on my 350, I thought lets race it on the 150. So here we has it. First (only?) race on the 2024 KTM 150XCW.
Video is 2 laps of the 150 folllowed by 2 laps of the 350. At the end, its an overlay of the 150\350. Braptastic.
Normally, I do some stretches and go hit my trails. This time I figured it'd be smart to do some drills, so I did some simple turn drills, focusing on body position while accelerating and while braking. I then spent time on my abbreviated turn track (one portion is a bit under water\squishy), keeping up on my feet on the pegs. Worked both directions and spent about 30 minutes in total doing drills.
Once I started turning laps around the track, I was much faster and much more confident. Good feeling on the bike.

Good to use for own riding comparisons of 150 v 350 🤘🤘🤘
and first real re-ride on the 350 after fixing its top endz. Ran into a wiring snafu the week before, and now we're back riding. Ain't even mad.
Dirt was slippy, that is true.
here's a portion after having been riding for ~45 minutes or so. I had already bonked on energy. 🤣

These are first thoughts\braps on the new 150. What can I say other than this bike's chassis is a big improvement over the 2019 350. Most notable is the xact closed chamber fork. What a dreamy fork. I've since looked into what the suspension was set at stock (standard settings) and am beyond impressed. This to me is the single biggest improvement over the older bikes. Suspension is what controls the rubber meeting the road. This handles it so well. Further riding will backup this claim. For science!!!
Being off of 2T bikes for nearly 10 years (GPX TSE250R stint aside), I'm quite pleased with this machine. Any questions, please ask.

Yup, I've been a longtime anti-2T person. Well, not anti-2T, but shirley the fanatacism over them has been out of control. The fast folks know ya gotta be on the 4T.....but I digress. Seeing KTM had this 150 in the new Throttle Body Fuel Injection with Xact Closed Chamber Forks, and oil injection....SIGN ME UP.
Thanks Munn Racing for reminding me that buying a new bike can actually be easy!
First ride coming soon.....
Watch the video and see.....its impressive what this new chassis can do. For reference, my current fast lap time on my 350 is 2:55. A few more rides and I should have that beat.

This is a re-up of a lower quality version previously uploaded. I've since figured out my davinci resolve render settings. my bad.
Nasa didn't go to the moon, but my KTM 350 did. No Van Allen belts messing me up. Just fun riding. Full loop was cut short due to lack rapidly approaching the dark side of the moon.
TLDR\W - BUY THE SUSPENSION!!!!
I run RaceChrono on a phone to log GPS\OBD2 data from my bike. It's pretty neat to review and compare lap times\braking zones\speeds\etc. This is really useful when I'm riding at home. The app lets you overlay the data onto the video, so this was my first go at trying that out.
WIXC Sturgeon Bay 6-2-24. +30 First, and 1st overall in the event.

Video cuts out ~1:25 in. Working on improving that. At least its in max HD'z now. So there's that.
What a day. The past two years at this event has been one of huffing dust. The Saturday prior, the heavens opened and dropped a decent amount of rain, which resulted in some hero dirt for the bulk of the course. Though as I'd learn (and crash on), it meant the rocks in the ground would turn to ice. I'll gladly deal with that over the dust.
Beautiful weather had me 2nd at the start in the +30 class. The lead rider on the YZ250X was burning a hot pace, which had us catching some B riders pretty quickly. In an attempt for us to both pass the first B rider, I managed to dump it pretty quickly on the aforementioned rocks. Stupid move on my part, but it did put a good frame of mind in my head for the race. I hunkered down and kept what I felt was a confident pace for myself. By the second lap, I was caught back up to the YZ250X rider and was pushing to find a place to pass him.
Unfortunately I clipped the side of a trail and managed to whiskey throttle into a smaller tree. I'm quite thankful it wasn't any worse than it was. The crash cost me a headlight, radiator shroud, bent clutch lever, and about 60 seconds of race time. I was frustrated, but I didn't let it get to me as I was amazed I was relatively unhurt (my arms are heavily bruised today).
I got up from this crash and figured if I caught the YZ250X now, I could possibly do it again. Which happened to be the case. There was a section in the course where I saw I was getting closer to him based on where he was in a Up and Back sectino of the course. About an hour in, he was ~10-15 seconds or so in front of me, which cut down to ~0 seconds when he stopped to refuel. This put me right on his tail where he decided to take off at a blistering pace. Normally I'd end up trying to push too hard, but I figured I was catching him, let him make a mistake. He either did, or was gassin' out as he ended up pulling over a little later in the lap. I thought maybe he was letting me push and make the mistake in the front (I'm good at doing that), but I ended up not seeing him again.
Much to my surprise I ended up catching the lone A rider on his CR 2T near the end of the race. This not only got me the +30 first place, but also the Overall for the event. I wasn't expecting it, but pleasantly surprised.
Also to note, I changed my 350's gearing to 14\52 back from the 13\52 I had been running the first few races. This kept 3rd gear smoother for me and my riding, and in the tighter stuff, 2nd was the right feel. I gotta make some more improvements in my riding, but yeah quite happy all things considered.
30+ class on my KTM 350 EXC-F
Rode pretty poorly for this event. My start was decent, but I kept trying to override the bike, which slowed me down. Time for some different grips as well (or toughen my hands up?) as the palm protectors didn't help resulting in blisters in blisters in blisters. 🤣 Rough.
I can't complain too hard though, took 3rd in class. We'll be ready for the next one. 🤘🤘
So this is the highlights of the Denmark WIXC race. Well, for me at least. Crashes, passes, and the start. Attempted to go short n sweet.
Sometimes even if you give a line full commitment, it doesn't go your way and you piledrive into the dirt. So's it goes.

One lap. Bike vs Bike. Here we go.
I was curious how the T7 stacked up against the 350 in the woods. If the T7 had some more decent knobbies, it'd have been a bit closer match. Well not really. Either way, the T7 showed once again it punches well above its weight, or however you'd say that in this case.
One lap. Bike vs Bike. Here we go.
I'm a believer.
I opted to keep the suspension clicker settings as arrived for this first test. George noted to me that its "soft", which generally gives a confident feeling. The big question though is how it handles with hard hits. You'll see in the first few seconds it has no problem falling from the sky. Yah, these aren't major jumps. It's a friends pitbike track and the T7 feels like a battleship on it. But the way you can hit stuff now and tackle thing, its great.
After the little track, I head back to my home trails and see how the T7 handles when being pushed a bit in the woods. I'd previously been riding the loop on my 350, so I had a good feeling of how things were going to shape up. If this T7 had proper knobbies on it instead of the D-sports, it would be an absolute weapon. You can just hammer into things and ride it like a dirtbike and not feel like you're being jarred all over the place. What a bike.
