Shock Troopers - Mountain Any% Speedrun - 14:53.04 LordBBH 2022-12-30 | 1CCBBH was on break this week, so I decided to do something a little different on stream. I've had the fastest 1CC speedrun of this for a while but had never sat down and attempted the Any% run, which allows credit-feeding to be done. This requires taking strategic deaths to refill your bomb/special weapon counter to blitz bosses down faster. It feels unnatural after all the 1CC's I do on this, but I guess I'm always down for a new way to play this game! Run says it's 14:53.78, it was retimed to 14:53.04 off the input file later. Neo Rank Masters - Ghostlop LordBBH 2022-12-24 | An unreleased puzzle game by Data East, one of the rare unreleased games on Neo-Geo that's actually gotten dumped and preserved for the public. It's like a combination of Puzzle Bobble and Arkanoid... or it's like Puchi Carat by Taito if you've played that, except with the ability to change the ball color mid-flight to hit different colored blocks. Not a terrible game, it's just... kinda unexciting after a few stages. Neo Rank Masters - Waku Waku 7 LordBBH 2022-12-22 | Sunsoft's second fighting game entry on the Neo-Geo is much improved upon from Galaxy Fight. This game still has a bit of a cult following to this day, thanks to its wild cast of characters and crazy special/super moves. 1CCBBH - 520. Karate Blazers (Glen, 1 Credit Clear) LordBBH 2022-12-15 | Pretty much every 1CC video of this game that I've seen out there uses Glen. This video is no exception, the other 3 characters are awful and have nothing that matches the power of Glen's sumo headbutt.This game's focus is to fill the screen with enemies, which looks kinda impressive but also makes it a scary game to play because a lot of these enemies have super-fast attacks that do lots of damage. Hence the headbutt spam. If you didn't watch the stream, I struggled with this game for hours because it kept screwing me over in different ways, until I got this run where everything came together and it actually ended up being a no-miss clear. 1CCBBH - 519. Crime Fighters (1 Loop Clear) LordBBH 2022-12-14 | ©KONAMI 1989I'd already finished Vendetta (Crime Fighters 2), it's time to tackle the original. But... yeah, this game is pretty jank. It's worth pointing out I played the World version, which is considerably easier than the US version. The US version made a lot of changes to the game, most notably replacing the sensible lifebar with a Gauntlet-style numerical bar that ticks down over time, which is an insanely dumb thing to put in a beat-em-up. And it wouldn't be the last time they pulled this, either!If you know this game you're probably aware that after stage 8 there's an "extra stage" which consists of a boss rush where you fight 7 bosses at once, with more enemies joining the fight as each one dies. I have not been able to clear this so I didn't even try. I'm unsure at this point whether or not I will come back to this to attempt to clear the boss rush, because the amount of corralling you have to do with the bosses and keeping track of how much damage you do to each one is really anxiety-inducing. So, apologies if you were expecting to see that, go watch one of MURPHAGATOR's runs or something. Neo Rank Masters - ADK World [part 2] LordBBH 2022-12-11 | A little while back I took a look at ADK World, the minigame-centric collection for the Neo-Geo CD. I wanted to come back to it because of a few reasons:1. I completely missed one section on the main menu, where Dr. Brown gives you dossiers on all the World Heroes Perfect characters. And they have multiple things they say that are picked at random! Of course it's all in Japanese, but we did a quick run through it anyway for the collection star.2. I got the star on the awful 19YY shmup game! It unlocked after I played about 33 or 34 stages. I received a couple comments saying it would unlock at 40 stages... I'm not sure why I got it sooner? Maybe it has to do will killcount too, but I was just below 3000 at the time. I don't think we've figured out the true criteria for this yet somehow!3. Now that all the stars were collected, one could visit Mudman's hut to find the mysterious things that were locked inside. Was it worth it? Well... in the end I think it was for sure. 1CCBBH - 517. WWF Superstars (Savage/Warrior, 1 Credit Clear) LordBBH 2022-12-03 | Ring Out strats all day. This game was a lot harder than I expected it to be. The title match against the Megabucks is annoying because AFAIK it's random whether or not Andre or DiBiase starts the fight, and Andre completely changes all the rules of the game since he's hard to grapple and can't be knocked down with running attacks. 1CCBBH - 516. Ring of Destruction (Oni, 1 Credit Clear) LordBBH 2022-12-02 | Slam Masters II is more of a fighting game than a wrestling game, and very few people got to see it in the arcades. It's a pretty interesting game though, with a dedicated grab button. Of course, I ignored most of the grab mechanics in favor of doing lots of flash kicks with Oni, because it's relatively (but not completely) safe on block. You get a special ending and 10 million bonus points if you finish with no rounds lost, but unfortunately I dropped a round on the 13th stage against Scorpion. 1CCBBH - 515. Saturday Night Slam Masters (Stingr, 1 Credit Clear) LordBBH 2022-12-02 | 9 stages times 2... that's a surprising amount of value for a game like this. If you can deal with the CPU anyway, which naturally knows every counter to every move. So one has to play dirty with Stingr using his psycho crusher to hit them every time they get into the ring. 1CCBBH - 514. Blazing Tornado (Eric, 1 Credit Clear) LordBBH 2022-12-01 | From the developers that would go on to make the Fire Pro series, Blazing Tornado is pretty similar. It has some nice aesthetics, with colorful character designs, and an amazing final boss intro. But ultimately it comes down to button mashing - if you're able to mash quickly in this game, this is a fairly easy 1CC. Mat Mania (1 Loop Clear) LordBBH 2022-11-30 | This game has no ending, but the championship belt can be won on Stage 5, after which you defend the belt an infinite series of rematches against the first five opponents in a semi-random order, until you lose. People have marathoned this game for hours because it's very patternable, I chose to end the game on Stage 10 because the goal had already been reached. (they even give you a staff roll, so it really counts as a 1CC!)Strat is fairly basic, get enemies to walk into your punches from above or below them, then body slam them (Up+A). One more punch stuns again, do another body slam, next punch knocks down... go back to trying to get a stun, lather rinse repeat. Neo Rank Masters - The King of Fighters 96 LordBBH 2022-11-25 | It's the game that laid the foundation for what future KOF's would play like, introducing running and rolling and hopping and hyper-hopping and all that stuff. Problem is, the game was kinda rushed out before the gameplay was finally tuned! People love this game for the aesthetic presentation but gameplay-wise, it's a mess with characters able to dominate with really basic strategies (Mature stand CD, Chin lie down, Iori's everything), and movesets that doesn't even have command normals programmed in. 1CCBBH - 509-B. Exzisus (Conversion Cabinet, 1 Loop Clear) LordBBH 2022-11-19 | Exzisus is kind of an odd horizontal shmup from Taito. There were two main revisions of the game - this one was made for conversion cabinets. In this version a lot of the background stuff has been removed, and enemy patterns are generally easier than they were before. However, there's no Barrier item, so taking one hit while in ship form changes you back to flying dude form. There are only 4 stages before it loops, I attempted to clear a second loop but it petered out on 2-3, so I cut this highlight right after the first loop ends. 1CCBBH - 508. Metal Black (1 Credit Clear) LordBBH 2022-11-18 | I didn't originally time this to coincide with the new home port release from Hamster, it just kinda happened. Metal Black's a shmup that has a cult following thanks to its bizarre vibes and Zuntata soundtrack. The game's a wild fever dream, especially on the last stage. That being said... while I certainly don't hate this game, I don't really hold it in as high of a regard as you might expect. I actually find it kinda frustrating to play because of the slow ship that only has one narrow shot type outside of the beam attack. While the trippiness of the game is cool, I just don't enjoy the gameplay that much. At least I stuck with it long enough to learn the 1CC, so I can at least respect it a little more now that I have a better idea of the routing (plus now nobody can hit me with the "Oh you just don't like it because you suck at it" excuse, because I hate that). 1CCBBH - 507-B. Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX (ORV Route, 1 Credit Clear) LordBBH 2022-11-17 | Yup that's two 16:9 screens put together for a 32:9 display. The main arcade modes of Dariusburst Another Chronicle are kinda odd in that you only play through three stages, as opposed to the 5-7 you would normally play through in a Darius game. This makes the game "easier" to clear, but the boss battles have been made longer and more epic in scope.This run went through the O-R-V route, which is part of the "EX" difficulty of harder stages and bosses than the defaults, with its own separate high score boards. ORV is the easiest of the possible EX routes though, lol. 1CCBBH - 506. G-Darius (Lambda Route, 1 Credit Clear) LordBBH 2022-11-16 | It's about time we finished up with the rest of the arcade Darius series, huh? G-Darius is a tough game to emulate properly, so for this I played the fantastic port that came out recently on consoles (this is the Switch port). The top route is the easiest so this certainly isn't the most impressive clear, but I'll take it.Autofire was used for some of the beam counters. I kinda wanted to do a full no-autofire run but I don't remember what to do on the 4th boss if you can't get the fourfold beam counter kill.
