Quadcopter 101
New UPAir One OSD FPV GPS Long Range Explorer Drone Flight Test Review
updated
Pros
- Unusual differential thrust aircraft that includes a servo operated elevator. This greatly helps trim of the aircraft, improves its stability, and allows very sharp yank and bank turns of the airplane.
- 6G gyro stabilization system helps keep the aircraft level, even with wind.
- Weighs only 90 grams and does not require registration in most countries.
- Beginner and expert configuration at the touch of a button. Beginner allows smooth and docile flying. Expert increase both roll and pitch rates to allow more aggressive maneuvering of the airplane.
- 3.7V 600 mah battery provides approximately 14 minutes of flight time.
- Controller includes LVC warning of low battery.
Cons
- Requires some assembly. Not too difficult, but it did take me about 20 minutes to put it together.

Pros
- Good looking flying model of the Maule MX-7-180B STOL aircraft.
- Weighs only 97 grams with battery installed. Does NOT require registration or remote ID (RID) in most countries.
- Ready to fly plane with included transmitter.
- True four channel airplane with throttle, elevator, rudder, and aileron control.
- Constructed of flexible and crash resistant EPP foam.
- Plenty of power from its 1504 KV4700 brushed motor, even when powered by its 1S battery.
- Three selectable flight modes. Novice 6G mode includes full 6 axis stabilization (3 axis gyro and 3 axis accelerometer). Also includes angle restrictions that prevent the aircraft rolling or pitching over. Intermediate "Gyro auxiliary mode" mode also includes 6 axis stabilization, but turns off pitch angle restrictions to allow aerobatic loop stunts. "3D manual mode" turns off all stabilization for fully aerobatic manual flying.
- Controller also includes a stunt button that allows the airplane to automatically conduct loops and aileron rolls.
- Efficient flier. It's 3.7V 500mah battery (size 851740) provides up to 14 minutes of flight time.
Cons
- Controller does not have any telemetry warnings. But it does give a beep every minute to allow the pilot to estimate flight time for battery preservation.
- The tail surface controls (rudder and elevator) do not provide very much movement (control authority) with their stock installed outboard position on the control horns. This causes very poor turning of the plane, especially when in 6G mode. It's best to move them to their full inboard position to provide much better movement of the surfaces, and thus better turning.
- Although based on a STOL aircraft, this plane will easily stall at low speeds, even in 6G mode. It's best to keep some throttle and speed on the plane (50% or better) to prevent these stalls.

Pros
- Priced perfectly for beginner pilots to try flying a drone. You won't feel too bad if you crash it into a tree or building.
- Folding drone with carrying case for portability.
- Weighs only 202 grams. This drone does not require registration or remote ID (RID) in most countries.
- Brushless motors for power, durability, and longevity.
- 7.4V 1600mah battery provides about 17 minutes of flight time. Bundled replacement battery only adds $8 to cost (Recommend getting it. You'll want it.).
- Optical flow sensor in belly. Works great for indoor automatic hovering.
- Obstacle avoidance sensors to lessen the chance of indoor crashes into walls, furniture, and/or other objects.
- GPS provides automatic hover capability outdoors, along with automatic return to home and landing ability on command, loss of signal, and low voltage.
- Camera mount with remote controlled up/down tilt capability. Camera can be rotated 180 degrees from pointed directly downward to full upward.
- Video and photos may be viewed and recorded directly to your phone using the "RxDrone" app available on Google Play here bit.ly/Rx-Drone and the App Store here bit.ly/3RV43zo
Cons
- Video can only be recorded to phone via WiFi. This leads to inherent WiFi problems of frame dropping and frozen frames.
- Although the RxDrone app does have advanced flight modes, they do not work well with this drone.

Pros
- Great looking black powered glider, reminiscent of Snake Plisskin's Gullfire from Escape from New York.
- Weighs only 70 grams with battery installed. Does NOT require registration or remote ID (RID) in most countries.
- Ready to fly plane with included transmitter.
- True four channel airplane with throttle, elevator, rudder, and aileron control.
- Constructed of flexible and crash resistant EPP foam.
- Plenty of power from its 1020 brushed motor.
- Pusher propeller plane makes damage to the propeller very unlikely. However, it comes with two spare propellers, just in case.
- Three selectable flight modes. Beginner mode includes full 6 axis stabilization (3 axis gyro and 3 axis accelerometer). Also includes angle restrictions that prevent the aircraft rolling or pitching over. Intermediate "Midd" mode also includes 6 axis stabilization, but turns off pitch angle restrictions to allow aerobatic loop stunts. Expert mode turns off all stabilization for fully aerobatic manual flying.
- Controller also includes a stunt button that allows the airplane to automatically conduct loops and aileron rolls.
- Auto Takeoff feature enables the aircraft to automatically climb to a safe altitude, and then circle until the pilot is comfortable and ready to take control of the plane with the pitch/roll stick.
- One key return feature will automatically fly the plane in the opposite direction that it was pointed at takeoff.
- Efficient flier. It's 3.7V 400mah battery (size 802035) provides approximately 11 minutes of flight time.
- Can fly with and use multi-protocol transmitter using "V761" protocol. Make sure that ALL your trim tabs are centered, or else the plane's motor will not arm. The reason mine would not arm in the video is because my aileron trim tabs were not centered.
Cons
- No low battery or poor signal telemetry warnings, like that available on the similar Volantex Warbird series.

Pros
- True four channel 690mm wingspan aircraft with ailerons, elevator, throttle, and rudder control.
- Available in three colors: Army Green, White, or Silver.
- Constructed of crash resistant EPP foam. It's a very crashworthy aircraft. Want proof? Watch the video. Remember though, I always fly in a grassy field. Flying over asphalt or concrete may give different results.
- Weighs only 249 grams with included battery. This airplane does not require FAA registration or remote ID (RID).
- 2204 2300kv brushless motor drone with 16A ESC for power and durability.
- 7.4V 1300mah battery provides up to 25 minutes of flight time (I got close to 11 with high power flying).
- Available RTF with included transmitter. But has SBUS slot if you wish to provide your own receiver and transmitter.
- Flight control board also include expansion points for installing an optional GPS system if desired.
- RTF transmitter range of up to 500 meters. Includes switches for three flight modes of Manual/6G/3D, along with dual rate switch.
Cons
- Flying in 3D mode was a LOT of fun, with the aircraft being very maneuverable. However, flying in 6G mode was problematic with my airplane. Maybe mine was simply defective? But I repeatedly experienced turning problems, along with occasional uncommanded hard right banking of the ailerons. Again, my individual aircraft may have simply been defective. I say this in that I have not seen this problem in other people's review of this aircraft.
- The 3 position mode switch has 6G as its center position. This makes it difficult to select without looking. 6G as an emergency selection should be at one of the outboard positions to make it easy to quickly select without looking.
- Installing a GPS system requires soldering. Additionally, there are no instructions included on how to do such.

- Real time FPV video can be viewed and recorded on yur phone using the "WiFi UAV" app available on Google Play here bit.ly/WiFi-UAV and on the Apple App Store here bit.ly/WiFiUAVApple
Cons
- The drone's camera only has a 480p sensor (4K version) or 720p sensor (6K version), with poor image quality. Camera is also pointed slightly downward which makes it difficult to fly low level FPV (sees mostly ground).
- Optical flow sensor doesn't seem to work well in headless mode.
- Low battery telemetry warning comes on relatively early in flight (approximately 5 minutes before LVC landing).

Pros
- Folding drone with included carrying case for portability.
- Relatively inexpensive for a brushless GPS drone.
- Weighs only 207 grams, and does not require FAA registration or RID.
- Brushless motors.
- GPS automatic return to home and landing on command, loss of signal, or low voltage.
- Optical flow system provides automatic hover indoors.
- 7.4V 2200mah battery provides up to 20 mins flight time (I got 16 1/2 minutes).
- Optional laser obstacle avoidance sensor is very effective outdoors, reacting at a good distance to objects in bright sunlight.
- Includes a HD camera with up/down gimbal. Recorded video is 1080p at 20fps.
- "Rx Drone" app provides viewing and recording of video and photos directly to your phone using 5Ghz WiFi. The app also includes advanced flight modes of circle me, follow me and waypoints. App is available on Google Play here bit.ly/Rx-Drone and on the Apple App Store here bit.ly/3RV43zo
- Controller range is advertised at up to 1200 meters. The controller includes a built-in 3.7V battery (no need for providing your own batteries). The controller also includes a LCD screen that displays telemtry information of GPS status, satellites received, signal strength, drone distance, and drone height.
Cons
- The 1080p is not the best quality. Remember that this is an inxepensive GPS drone, mainly meant to help beginners learn to fly.
- The app requires a phone capable of using 802.11ac 5Ghz WiFi. Not all phones have this capability. Before purchasing, first verify that your phone can use this WiFi.
- The drone does not have a memory card slot. Video and photos can only be recrorded to your phone using WiFi. Potential WiFi recording limitations include frame skipping, video freeze, and limited FPV range.
- The recorded still photos are 1080p frame grab photos interpolated up to 4K (7680 x 4320p). Interpolation does not provide any enhancement to the quality of the photos. It is merely for marketing to allow claiming that the advertised recording capability is 4K.
- The Rx Drone app is rather buggy. Advanced flight modes of Circle Me and Follow Me did not work properly. The drone would physically follow me, but would not point the camera in my direction. Also, I could not get Circle Me mode to work at all.
- The laser obstacle avoidance system is very sensitive, and can detect and react to objects at a great distance. This causes a problem if flying the drone close to the ground (below 6 feet). The system can react to the ground at low altitude, preventing forward flight. To counter this, just fly higher.

Pros
- Really an amazing toy for the price.
- Remote controlled boat, powered by two motors. Can move forward, backward, right, and left. It's controlled by your phone using common 2.4Ghz WiFi.
- Built-in 3.7V 250mah battery provides approximately 15 minutes of operation per charge. Can go longer if you use the motors sparingly.
- Automatic On/Off switch. Just place it in the water, or pick it up to turn it on or off.
- Bottom underwater camera includes an automatically activated search light, and remote controlled up/down gimbal. Video is recorded at 640 x 480 pixel resolution at 30 fps.
- "i-Spy Toys" app provides ability to control the boat, along with real time viewing and recording of FPV video directly to your phone. Also provides telemetry information of signal strength, and remaining battery power. App is available on Google Play here bit.ly/RaysBoatApp and the Apple App Store here apps.apple.com/bg/app/i-spy-toys/id1660158287
- Predicted range of approximately 15 meters (about 50 feet). But this range varies depending on the strength of the WiFi signal from your phone. I got a bit more than 50 feet with my phone, and still had very good signal strength.
Cons
- Video is not stabilized. Use in water that's relatively smooth for best video.
- No GPS return to home capability. If you drive it out of range or until the battery dies, hope that you got a boat or know how to swim. i.e. keep an eye on your app's telemetry information to prevent this from happening.

Pros
- Ready to fly, no assembly required. All needed equipment is provided, with the exception of three AAA batteries for the receiver.
- Weighs only 75 grams. This plane does not require registration in nearly all countries.
- Available in red or blue, and is constructed of crash resistant EPP foam.
- Differential thrust three channel airplane.
- By design, the plane maximizes ground effect lift to provide very short takeoffs from ground or water.
- Fully gyro stabilized. Can be flown easily by beginner pilots.
- Can be flown indoors or outdoors. Its speed and short turning radius allows it to be flown in small areas. This would also make a great indoor winter gym flier.
- Comes with THREE 3.7V 800 mah batteries, each capable of providing up to 15 minutes of flight time (I got 12 with aggressive flying).
- Controller has up to 150m range. However, you likely won't be able to see this little plane further than about 70 meters.
Cons
- Brushed motors. They will fail someday, but as it's a plane, they should last a reasonable time.
- Battery bay requires a small phillips screwdriver (provided) to open and close it.

Pros
- Ready to fly, no assembly is required. All needed equipment is provided and installed, except batteries for the transmitter.
- Brushless motor drone with 1503/4000KV motors. This is one of the cheapest brushless motor drones that I've seen to date. But don't let the low cost fool you. It's a good flying drone.
- Weighs only 134 grams. No Registration, Trust certificate, or remote ID is required.
- Folding drone with carrying case for portability.
- Very effective optical flow sensor that's capable of automatic motionless hover of the drone.
- Includes IR obstacle avoidance sensors for indoor protection.
- 3.7V 1500mah battery provides up to 10 minutes flight time.
- Camera records 1080p video at 20 fps to your smartphone via the "WiFi UAV" app available on Google Play here bit.ly/WiFi-UAV and via the Apple App Store here apple.co/2HB731W
Cons
- Photos are video frame grabs that are electronically enlarged (interpolated) to 4K from the original 1080p resolution frame grab. This does not provide any improvement in the quality of the still photo.
- Video quality is not the greatest. But this is a low cost beginner's drone, mainly meant for learning the basics of drone flight. And for that purpose, it's a very good drone.
- Obstacle avoidance is iffy. Indoors, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Outdoors, it's totally ineffective as the sun easily overpowers its IR sensors.
- The app uses basic 2.4 Ghz WiFi. This is good in that just about all phones have this type of WiFi available. But it's also bad in that the drone's controller also uses 2.4Ghz, effectively reducing the WiFi FPV video range to about 30 meters.

Pros
- Includes a two axis stabilized gimbal with EIS for very stable video.
- Folding drone with very nice carrying case for excellent portability.
- Brushless motors.
- GPS/GLONASS system enables rapid lockon for pre-flight preparation. GPS also provides automatic return to home and landing capability on command, and on lost signal.
- 11.1V 2500mah battery provides about 25 minutes of flight time.
- True 4K camera, able to record video at 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution at 30 frames per second (fps). Video and photos are recorded to an onboard microSD (TIF) memory card (Recommend using a U3/V30 card at a minimum to record at 4K bitrate).
- Camera includes a two axis stabilized gimbal, and electronic image stabilization.
- Real time FPV in-flight video and advanced flight control features are vailable through the "HS Fly" app available on Google Play here bit.ly/HSFly and the Apple App Store here apple.co/3QLYmTJ. The app provides advanced flight control features of follow me, orbit, and waypoints.
- The controller has a built-in WiFi amplifier relay with external antenna that provides up to 3 Km range. Note that many countries do not allow 3 Km drone flights. But this ability does provide a good strong video signal for most flight environments.
Cons
- App requires use of phones with 802.11ac WiFi capability. Before purchasing this drone, I strongly recommend that you first verify that your phone can indeed use 802.11ac WiFi. Just do a simple internet search using the terms "802.11, your phone's model name, and specifications". Then see is 802.11ac WiFi shows up under your phone's specification.
- Weighs 556 grams. This drone will require registration in most countries. In the USA, it will additionally require completion and certification under the FAA's TRUST course, along with use of a remote ID system when flying.

Pros
- Seems to be an upgraded and rebranded version of the JJRC W01 J3 Piper Cub.
- Very strong, constructed of highly crash resistant EPP foam.
- Available in two versions; RTF with stock transmitter and built-in proprietary receiver, or BNF with available ports for DSM2/DSMX and PPM S-SUS receivers.
- Flies very well outdoors in wind, yet seems to also be a good candidate for indoor gym flying.
- 505mm wingspan EPP foam flying model of the J3. Weighing only 65 grams, this airplane does not require registration in most countries.
- True three channel control of throttle, rudder, and elevator.
- 6 axis stabilization (3 axis gyro, 3 axis accelerometer) makes this plane very easy to fly.
- Propeller is powered by three 0720 coreless motors.
- 3.7V 500mah battery can provide up to 20 minutes of flight time (I got over 12 minutes of flight in windy conditions).
- 120 meter range with provided controller.
- Two flight modes includes fully stabilized beginner mode with pitch and roll angle restrictions, and high rate stabilized intermediate mode with no restrictions on pitch angle (to enable loops).
Cons
- Could not get it to bind with multi protocol transmitters using V911S E119 protocol. Protocol seems to have changed from the W01 model.
- Requires some assembly, particularly attaching the wing, landing gear, and struts. It takes about 1/2 hour to complete assembly.

Pros
- Nicely made, high precision 1:76 scale 2WD micro RC car model of the Dodge Challenger SRT.
- Available in two different colors, black, and red.
- Very fast yet maneuverable car. Can even do donuts (and possibly drifting).
- Includes full featured multi-colored lighting, with headlights, tailights, and ambient lighting.
- Powered by rear wheel drive motor.
- Proportional micro servo controlled steering.
- Front suspension.
- Internal 3.7V 75mah battery provides up to 30 minutes of drive time per charge.
- Very good RC controller, with throttle and steering dual rates and trim.
Cons
- These are micro precision cars. That means cat and dog hair, dirt, and dust can easily gum them up. Gunk in the gears will degrade performance, especially battery performance, and can also damage the motor. Recommend running them on clean surfaces only!

Pros
- This 320mm wingspan airplane is lightweight airplane at only 82 grams with battery. This plane does not require registration in most countries.
- Constructed of crash resistant EPP foam.
- In addition to flight capability, it can also be driven as a ground vehicle. Motors have the ability of being reversed for backward movement if desired. Aircraft floats, and is also waterproof for use as a boat.
- 6 Axis gyro stabilized for ease of flying by beginner pilots.
- Two channel airplane (throttle and rudder control). Turning is achieved through differential thrust of the motors.
- Uses common 820 brushed motors.
- Available with either red or blue fuselage.
- LED's on the vertical stabilizers for night flying.
- 3.7V 450mah rechargeable LiPo battery provides about 9 minutes flight time per charge.
Cons
- Brushed motor plane. The motors will fail eventually with time and use.
- This plane is meant for beginner pilots. Only basic flight control (up/down throttle, right left turning) is possible.
- Although I didn't try it, I have doubt that this plane has enough power to takeoff from water.

Pros
- Very inexpensive at under $30 with shipping
- Weighs 112 grams with battery, and does not require registration in most countries.
- Folding drone and included carrying case provide excellent portability.
- Optical flow system provides relatively stable automatic hovering.
- Obstacle avoidance sensor to automatically detect and correct flight away from obstacles.
- Flight modes include headless mode, flip, obstacle avoidance, one key takeoff and landing, and one key return. (Note that one key return is NOT return to home. It merely flies the opposite direction that it was pointed at takeoff)).
- 3.7V 1800mah battery provides approximately 6 minutes flight time per charge.
- Camera includes up down remote control.
- "HF UFO" app provides in flight FPV video to your phone using common 2.4Ghz WiFi. App is available on Google Play here bit.ly/HF-UFO and the Apple App Store here bit.ly/AppHFUFO
Cons
- This is a $30 beginner's learn to fly drone that slightly resembles a Mavic 3 Pro. As such, don't expect much. Especially don't expect that you'll be getting a Mavic 3 Pro for $30. This is a very basic drone.
- Brushed motor drone. It's motors will eventually fail with time.
- Advertised vertical and overhead camera shots have not been implemented in the Android version of the app.
- Video and photos are interpolated (electronically enlarged) up to 8K from a much lower resolution (looks like 480p).

Pros
- Very good looking aircraft in paint scheme and details
- Ready to fly plane with included transmitter. Batteries are included for the transmitter!
- True four channel airplane with throttle, elevator, rudder, and aileron control.
- Constructed of flexible and crash resistant EPP foam.
- Plenty of power from its 1020 brushed motor.
- Comes with two 2 bladed propellers.
- Three selectable flight modes. Beginner mode includes full 6 axis stabilization (3 axis gyro and 3 axis accelerometer). Also includes angle restrictions that prevent the aircraft rolling or pitching over. Intermediate "Midd" mode includes milder 6 axis stabilization, but angle restrictions are still included. Expert mode turns off all stabilization for fully aerobatic manual flying.
- Controller also includes a stunt button that allows the airplane to automatically conduct loops and aileron rolls.
- One key return feature will automatically fly the plane in the opposite direction that it was pointed at takeoff.
- Quick disconnect propeller saver automatically disconnects the propeller in a crash to prevent propeller or motor damage. Propeller can be quickly reattached after the crash to continue flying.
- Very efficient flier. It's 3.7V 400mah battery can provides up to 15 minutes of flight time (I got about 13 minutes).
- Can be flown with multi-protocol transmitters using V761 protocol using new TopRc subprotocol.
Cons
- Brushed motor airplane. Its motor will eventually fail some day. Strongly recommend allowing 15 minutes motor cool down between flights to improve motor longevity.
- New "TopRC" V-761 sub-protocol does not bind with older versions of the OpenTX DIY Multi-Protocol firmware. It also does not bind with other Eachine or Volantex transmitters. You may need to upgrade your multi-protocol transmitter's firmware to be able to bind the TopRC planes.
- The Midd stabilization position does not turn off pitch angle restrictions. Thus you cannot do manual stabilized loops in Midd mode like you can do with the Eachine/Volantex warbirds.
- This plane is fast and maneuverable. However, it can stall and go into a spin that even the stabilization system may have trouble recovering from. As such, it's good to keep up some speed on this plane to lessen the chance of stalling.
- The low telemetry battery warning activated when LVC shut down the plane. This resulted in a stall and a crash. It would be better if the battery warning came on sooner to allow safely returning the aircraft.

Pros
- Small (225mm wingspan), inexpensive, lightweight airplane at only 21 grams with battery. This plane does not require registration in most countries.
- 6 Axis gyro stabilized for ease of flying by beginner pilots.
- Two channel airplane (throttle and rudder control). Turning is achieved through differential thrust of the motors.
- Available with either red or blue fuselage.
- Constructed of crash resistant EPP foam.
- LED's on the bottom of the wings for night flying.
- 3.7V 150mah rechargeable LiPo battery provides up to 12 minutes flight time per charge.
Cons
- Brushed motor plane. The motors will fail eventually with time and use.
- Short range of about 30 meters (but advertised at 150 meters).
- This plane is meant for beginner pilots. Only basic flight control (up/down throttle, right left turning) is possible.

Pros
- Very unusual differential thrust aircraft that includes a servo operated elevator. This greatly helps trim of the aircraft, improves its stability, and allows some elementary stunts with the airplane.
- 6G gyro styabilization system helps keep the aircraft level, even with wind.
- Weighs only 58 grams and does not require registration in most countries.
- Beginner and expert configuration at the touch of a button. Beginner allows smooth and docile flying. Expert increase both roll and pitch rates to allow more aggressive maneuvering of the airplane.
- 3.7V 350 mah battery provides approximately 9 minutes of flight time.
Cons
- No LVC warning or shutoff. To preserve your LiPo, recommend landing the plane when you notice that you're flying full throttle to keep it in the air.
- Auto loop feature would not work for me. And yes, I tried pushing the pitch stick both down and up after pressing the stunt button. Neither worked for me. Maybe I got a defective plane, or maybe I'm doing something wrong?
- The elevator servo was jammed full down out of the box, and would not center when battery power was applied. I needed to manually force/move the servo to center position, from where it started working properly.

Pros
- Very good looking aircraft in paint scheme and details. Includes a clear cockpit with pilot cutout inside.
- Ready to fly plane with included transmitter.
- True four channel airplane with throttle, elevator, rudder, and aileron control.
- Constructed of flexible and crash resistant EPP foam.
- Plenty of power from its 1020 brushed motor.
- Comes with two 2 bladed and two 3 bladed propellers.
- Three selectable flight modes. Beginner mode includes full 6 axis stabilization (3 axis gyro and 3 axis accelerometer). Also includes angle restrictions that prevent the aircraft rolling or pitching over. Intermediate "Midd" mode also includes 6 axis stabilization, but turns off pitch angle restrictions to allow aerobatic stunts. Expert mode turns off all stabilization for fully aerobatic manual flying.
- Controller also includes a stunt button that allows the airplane to automatically conduct loops and aileron rolls.
- NEW Auto Takeoff feature enables the aircraft to automatically climb to a safe altitude, and then circle until the pilot is comfortable and ready to take control of the plane with the pitch/roll stick.
It's 3.7V 400mah battery can provides up to 15 minutes of flight time (I got over 8 minutes on a very windy day).
- Can be flown with multi-protocol transmitters using V761 protocol. I demonstrate such in the above video.
Cons
- Brushed motor airplane. Its motor will eventually fail some day. Strongly recommend allowing 15 minutes motor cool down between flights to improve motor longevity.
- It's a bit heavier at 66 grams than its 55 grams predecessor. This is mainly due to the heavy use of paint (although it looks good).
- I didn't get the full 15 minutes of flight time. This is likely due to the high wind I was flying it in, and the high throttle settings that I used to counter the wind.

Pros
- Capable of flight, and movement over ground and through water.
- Weighs only 83 grams and does not require registration in most countries.
- 3.7V 850mah battery provides up to 7 minutes of flight time.
- 6G stabilized flight.
- Three flight rates.
- Has flip capability. Also has circle and orbit modes.
Cons
- Does not have altitude hold capability. This is good and bad. Good in that it teaches manual throttle management for this wishing to transfer to FPV race drones. Bad in that it may be more difficult for beginners to learn to fly than other drones with altitude hold.
- Battery is held in the drone with four screws. This makes it difficult to change batteries out in the field.
- The drone doesn't float. Make sure to turn on the water mode before placing it in the water. This turns on the motors to keep the drone afloat.

Pros
- Portable folding drone with carrying case for drone and its accessories.
- Includes a lighted display case that also serves as its controller/transmitter.
- Weighs only 76 grams with battery. Does not require registration in most countries.
- Includes an optical flow system to help mitigate the drone from wandering in hover.
- 3.7V 1800 mah battery provides up to 20 minutes flight time per charge (I got 6 1/2 minutes indoors at low rate).
- Advanced flight modes include optical flow, altitude hold, headless mode, flips, and flight path (via app only).
- Camera can take and record interpolated (electronically enlarged) 2048 x 1080p @ 20fps video, and interpolated 8K still photos (video frame grabs) directly to your phone via WiFi. Camera also includes remote up down lens tilt control via the remote controller.
- Uses the "KY UFO" app available on Google Play here bit.ly/KY-UFO and the Apple App Store here http://bit.ly/3JpgU74. App uses common 2.4 Ghz WiFi, which is available on most phones.
Cons
- Brushed motor drone. Its motors will eventually fail with time.
- Optical flow system can drift after takeoff or after maneuvering flight. But it will eventually recover to hover the drone if the pilot first manually controls it to hover.
- The camera is not very good, and is not 8K as advertised (quality appears to be around 720p or less). Again, this is mainly meant as a beginner's learn to fly drone.
- Battery appears physically much smaller than expected for an 1800 mah battery, and only provided 6 1/2 minutes flight time at low rate flying (vice advertised 20 minutes).

Pros
- Portable folding drone with carrying case for drone and its accessories.
- Weighs only 128 grams with battery. Does not require registration in most countries.
- Brushless motors for durability (vs. brushed motor drones).
- Highly effective optical flow system prevents the drone from wandering, even in relatively strong wind.
- 360 degree obstacle avoidance system can be clipped on to improve safety of indoor flying.
- 3.7V 1600 mah battery provides up to 20 minutes flight time per charge (I got 12 minutes on a very windy day).
- Advanced flight modes include optical flow, altitude hold, headless mode, flips, and flight path (via app only).
- Camera can take and record 720p video, and interpolated 4K still photos directly to your phone via WiFi. Camera also includes remote up down lens tilt control via the remote controller.
- Uses the "WiFi UAV" app available on Google Play here bit.ly/WIFI-UAV and the Apple App Store here apple.co/2HB731W . App uses common 2.4 Ghz WiFi, which is available on most phones.
Cons
- Drone does not have a GPS. Although it can automatically hover in place like a GPS drone, it does not have the capability of a GPS drone of being able to automatically return to home and land where it took off from.
- The camera is not very good. Again, this is mainly meant as a beginner's learn to fly drone.
- Although you can fly this indoors, I personally would not recommend doing such by beginner pilots. It's brushless motor drones are powerful, and its spinning props brushing against skin can cause damage.

- Proportional micro servo controlled steering.
- Front suspension.
- 4 channel FPV camera (FPV version only). Allows simultaneous racing of up to 4 different cars.
Cons
- These are micro precision cars. That means cat and dog hair, dirt, and dust can easily gum them up. Gunk in the gears will degrade performance, especially battery performance, and can also damage the motor. Recommend running them on clean surfaces only!
RadioLink is having a $11 off promotion from 12 to 18 April with coupon code 05A560RTF03
Improvements over original A560
- Can now be quickly/easily assembled/disassembled for storage and portability in its included carrying case.
- More durable structural attachments. Glue attachments have been eliminated.
- Audible low battery power and RSSI telemetry warnings through controller.
- Improved durability landing gear.
Pros
- True four channel RC aircraft (throttle, rudder, elevator, and aileron control). But suitable for most beginner fliers as its onboard stabilization system will quickly and automatically right the aircraft when you get in trouble, even when doing stunts (just let go of the sticks).
- Suitable for outdoor and indoor flying. Gyro calibration can be adjusted to allow the plane to fly in high angle of attack for slow indoor flying with sharp turns.
- All components are easily accessed for easy repair or replacement if needed.
- Brushless SZ-SPEED 2206F 1450KV motor with Gemfan 8038 propeller provides plenty of thrust for vertical flight.
- 15A ESC. Can use 2S or 3S batteries with the A560
- Two Fully Max 2S 7.4V 30C 660mah batteries with red JST connector and balance plug. 2S up to 20 minutes flight time in horizontal modes, 10 minutes vertical modes.
- Six individual flight modes for all experience level fliers:
1. "Stabilized" mode provides gyro stabilized flight with automatic leveling. Easy to fly for most beginner pilots.
2. "Acrobat" mode also includes stabilization, but allows for doing advanced stunts by beginner pilots. If they get into trouble while doing an Immelmann ;-) , just let go of the sticks and the plane will automatically and quickly right itself.
3. "Gyro" mode still provides some minor stabilization to counter wind gusts, but will not automatically right the plane if you get into trouble.
4. "Manual" mode allows turning off the stabilization system completely for true manual flight.
5. "Vertical Multirotor" mode allows vertical hovering of the plane like a drone. Roll is on right stick, and vertical yaw is on left stick.
6. New "Vertical Airplane" mode allows vertical hovering of the plane like a drone. Roll is on left stick, and vertical yaw is on right stick.
- Constructed of flexible polypropylene foam, making it somewhat crash resistant for the new flier. Includes quick disconnect propeller to lessen chance of motor damage in a powered crash.
- USB type C charger. Can recharge in field with power bank or car phone charger.
- Extremely light weight at only 207 grams with its installed battery. Does not require registration in most countries.
- Uses Radiolink T8S controller with FHSS spread spectrum with 4KM control distance.
Cons
- The six flight modes are selected on the T8S by a combination of various positions of two switches, each with three different switch positions. This can be confusing, especially for your first flights with this plane. Before going out, recommend familiarizing yourself with this controller and these position.
- Some gyro induced wobble may be noticed in high speed flying. To reduce this wobble, simply move the aileron connectors closer inboard. See this picture Note for high speed flying, to avoid wobble move the aileron connectors closer to centerline to smooth the flight https://i.ibb.co/cQY6qx6/A560-Aileron-Servo-Adjust.jpg
