Steve WallisI went camping up in a hanging tent in the trees this week! Well, it's not really a tent, more of a hanging seat with a roof on it but it did the trick. I used a battery-powered wireless winch to hoist myself up onto the straps I hung between two trees. It was a successful night of camping!
Electric Lift Hanging Tent CampingSteve Wallis2023-06-17 | I went camping up in a hanging tent in the trees this week! Well, it's not really a tent, more of a hanging seat with a roof on it but it did the trick. I used a battery-powered wireless winch to hoist myself up onto the straps I hung between two trees. Was a great camping trip aside from a little bit of highway noise. One of the billboards was for onion burgs which are a camping standby meal for me, so you can probably guess what's for dinner!

Many Walmart's have stopped allowing camping, but there are still a few out there that let you camp for one night. I set up the tent on the edge of the parking lot and hunkered down for the night with my slow cooker meal.

The hike was grueling, we forgot gear, and a quick overnight turned into a couple day adventure hiking the whole trip twice over steep terrain but managed to camp in the abandoned mine.

I hoped to find a nice little spot along the tracks and fortune was on my side. Perhaps a bit too stealthy of a camping spot as I would say there was about a 0% chance of anyone finding me. Perhaps not a nail-biting night, but any night outdoors is always good.
This is the official launch of the new merch store, there are some new designs some classic ones and they're doing a limited-time *free shipping* promotion for me when you get 2 or more apparel items!
Anyways, all that aside I went stealth camping in a small plot of trees behind a welcome sign. I've been trying to camp behind this sign for quite some time and finally, the timing and weather worked out for me! Was a decent night, road noise is expected of course but it made for an interesting night!

It just took a quick trip to Canadian Tire and a thrift store to get the van ready for camping and I was all set. It turned out to be a surprisingly appropriate vehicle to camp in for the night!

A beautiful river ran right beside the campsite and was the perfect place to hunker down and camp for the night. Some highway noise made it hit and miss overnight, but the white noise of the river made camping far more enjoyable than expected!

To camp in a blanket fort! It seems silly, but it actually worked out better than I thought. I went to a regular campground with other respectable campers and put together a blanket fort with rachet straps, clamps, and tent pegs. It was a very acceptable camping shelter and a relaxing couple of days!

There was ample tree cover and plenty of spots to set up camp for the night. The camping was acceptable considering the location. As always it's not quite a camping trip without something going wrong.
I headed out to say goodbye to Jess and my favorite campsite in the world. It is eroding into the ocean and doesn't look like it will reopen again. It was just a normal relaxing camping trip without too much excitement but that's ok sometimes. Crazy neighbor towed me out to the campground in the brave little toaster with their nice big fancy motorhome.
I found a great beach shelter that had been built on the coast so I decided to camp in it for the night. It was very close to a dog-walking trail so there was plenty of people to hide from. A very neat spot for camping, but a risky camping spot indeed! Late to bed and early to get up.

If you haven't heard of him for some reason, please check him out! He does truck camping adventures and is a super cool guy.
Mav will likely be posting his own camping video from this adventure in a few weeks as well.

I've gotten back on the horse again and beginning my long camping trip. I've got the small camper hooked up and will be using it as a home base over most of the winter on a healing journey.

There was a trail going right to the border from the campground and plenty of stealthy camping spots around the border. We ended up getting a little more extreme than originally planned.

I went camping this week and the campground was busier than I prefer, so I hit the farm supply store and picked up some economical tarps that turned my 2-star camping experience into a 3-star!

Camping in hammocks is always my choice when there will be lots of rain.

I finally found a great camping spot in a freeway interchange. This has been on my camping list for a while, but I needed to find the perfect stealthy interchange. Crazy neighbor kindly dropped me and my camping gear off and then picked me up in the morning. I tried out a disposable grill and had a blast sleeping beside the roar of the traffic.

There was a little rain, a few mishaps, but a bad day camping is better than a good day at work. Big potential for stealth camping transportation to get into the camping spots I can't access with a vehicle.
The e-bike conversion kit is a Ebikeling model from amazon, I wouldn't recommend picking one up at this point due to my initial results. Hoping to work out the bugs.

I packed my hammock to a great camp spot behind a ball diamond. Little towns are an excellent opportunity for stealth camping, there aren't the crowds of the big city, but there is the possibility locals will be more vigilant regarding people they don't recognize. Great camping trip overall though!

There are pros and cons to this internet plan though.
Pros: -No waitlist -Service can be paused -Fully portable
Cons: -Decreased service priority vs. home Starlink plans (in areas with lots of users) -It's pricey -Doesn't run on 12 volts, you need an inverter

First one of the year! I experimented with a little awning and had a relaxing night watching the hockey game. Nothing too exciting this week, but I've had to stay close to home to get people paid designs to workers at the house.
I'm back at the acreage in full swing of working on the house again. While I'm out here I will be working on connecting the treehouse to a few other campsites around the property with a homemade light rail system. My friend Tim has generously provided some surplus pressure-treated wood that will work well as ties, and I will get some chainlink fence ties that will work well as rails. We still need to come up with a train to go on it, but it should be rolling in two weeks!
An ordinary day just camping in the treehouse. Crazy Neighbour did a great job repairing and improving the treehouse with balconies, a new roof, and a staircase. It was like a trip to a cabin for the weekend. This is just the beginning, there is more work lined up to improve the treehouse. We are looking at using it as a studio for possibly a podcast or vlog, and of course as a place to camp, or for guests who are over to go camping in.
I got back to do a night of camping at the place I lived for years. The campground was kind of abandoned for a year or so and I parked my RV there for ages for free. Some of this adventure was filmed for an old Boondocking documentary I filmed. Truly a beautiful campground and my favorite place on earth.
I picked up a cheap inflatable raft and paddled over to an island in the middle of a lake in a residential area for some camping. Many very nice homes were close by, so I had to be stealthy. I brought a couple of stealth camping shelter options with me but ended up using a surprise shelter instead. It was a blast as always!
I'm taking a break from stealth camping with a normal camping video this week as I gear up to film a bunch more before I return home. I camped for the night in a S.O.L emergency bivvy link here: (These are just the Canadian links, not sure how to find the US or international links but I will learn how to find that! I don't have an affiliate program yet just sharing the links for some guidance on where to find this stuff!
I finally found the perfect roundabout to crawl into and go camping for the night. It was a very stealthy spot, and I've looked long and hard to find one like this. It was a typical night of hiding, drinking beer, and being quiet, but it was exciting as always. Overall a good camping trip, but I did find it a bit noisy of a night so likely wouldn't camp there again.
Beautiful wife found the best sign to camp behind I've ever seen in my life. I headed out to camp behind the welcome to Nanaimo sign and set up my small bivy tent for a night of camping. It was a blast as always, and a very good camping test for the tent.
The tent I'm using is a GearTop 1 Person tent, I only have the Canadian amazon link (I'm not sure how to find the US one or international) but here it is if anyone is interested.
I grabbed the pop-up canopy from our river trip and I stuck it on the back of the SUV for a night of camping. Overall a very functional idea for tailgate tenting, but it will take some tweaks to make it a bit more airtight. Early spring camping doesn't get any better than this!
Hi everyone, happy St. Patrick's Day! The Rav4 has finally arrived, of course, I had to camp in it within 24 hours of getting the keys. I am actually packing right now as this video uploads so that we can hit the road for our video filming marathon ASAP.
I went stealth camping with Crazy Neighbor in a fake construction site. We set up some scaffolding and put some planks in for bunk beds. The Big Buddy heater provided all the warmth required for a relatively cold night. A wind storm made the camping a little more difficult than expected but not impossible! We had enough traffic cones and caution tape to complete the illusion.
There was a severe cold warning but that didn't stop me from doing some camping this week. I did my first multi-night stealth camping trip, and it was strangely relaxing to not have to pack up after the first night. I used the propane Mr. buddy heater to keep warm and the hunting blind to blend into the woods as good as possible.
Hi guys, I suppose I'm mailing it in again this week, but this is a bit of the behind-the-scenes about what's happening at the acreage. I don't think I've shown a recent update regarding the framing or what's going on with contractors work out here. It's been an exhausting week but I've neglected to be here to direct the crews who have been patient with me so far haha. Cheers everyone and we will see you camping again real soon.
