This album is heavily inspired by MonoTree's style of producing, specifically G-High and Hwang Hyun production. Other artists and producers I got inspiration from are Mura Masa (Firefly, Messy Love), SZA (The Weekend, Pretty Little Birds), Elujay (1080p, Golden), and BADD (dal segno, Rosy, Colors).

["I"]: a number that represents the origin of all things and is most often associated with the idea of unity.
["X"]: a number that represents perfection and the completion of a cycle.
These two symbols put together mark a version of the star-shaped character '*', a representation of LOOΠΔ's beginnings.

Similar to how an asterisk can take on many different forms but function as the same symbol, the twelve members of LOOΠΔ show individuality while also being unified in breaking away from 'utopia', a place in the LOOΠΔVERSE where fate is decided for you.

"Creation*Wake" is a mid-tempo dance pop opener, featuring swelling pads and lively synth plucks. The title track takes inspiration from the rich genres of UK House and Garage. "Garden*Idyll" follows in a similar style, with the latter half switching to a synthpop groove. Interesting chord arrangements are prevalent in "Question*Starflower", which conclude the standard version of the mini album.

*Album Tracklist for streaming platforms will be different from the standard version. In addition, the album has 2 hidden tracks: "Desire*Malus" and "Fall*Restart" which are snippets for a future project. The album also has a Live Premiere-exclusive track "Prickle".

The traditional Korean elements especially were underutilized, wish they went that direction instead of the early 2000's vibe or at least blended those genres better.

1. +1 Intro [0:00] -
Mostly inspired by Ujico's "Cosmo Funk". I decided to separate Starseed's intro from the actual song and turned it into the intro for this album.

2. STARSEED [0:45] -
This one is in style of Moe Shop's recent work, mainly "GHOST FOOD" for the first verse.

3. HULA HOOP [3:29] -
There's a bit of Daft Punk in there! This edit was the hardest to complete just because I couldn't get it to sound how I wanted it to.

4. PAINT THE TOWN [6:43] -
Remix that I've posted on the channel last year. I knew I had to include this in the album because of how similar the soundscape was to the rest of the tracks. Song used is "Superhuman" by NCT 127.

5. BE HONEST [10:03] -
It was difficult to come up with a future house remix for this song because of the modal mixture and key changes, so I had to find a reference that had a lot of modulations. I sampled "ハレ晴レユカイ - 燦鳥ノム" by Moe Shop for the entire edit.

6. A DIFFERENT NIGHT [13:25] -
The progression is from YOUHA's "Abittipsy" (and Arno Cost's "Muse") since I thought it'd fit A Different Night. Also felt like a cheesy synth pop track would be a nice album closer.

NMIXX O.O if the Superhero part was a full song

ZSunder 2022-02-22 | O.O is a pass for me, and this is coming from someone that liked Next Level and Sticker. Idk, the first and last section just reminds me too much of Stray Kids and their music isn't really my thing.

Anyways, excited for Queendom 2! It'll be the first kpop show I'll actively watch, just for LOONA and WJSN.

I think another reason why I dislike this song is because it could have easily been 2 separate ideas. The first part has a verse and a pre-chorus, which is never explored again in the song. The Superhero section also has a verse and a bridge which you only get to hear once. Compared to songs like Next Level where the first half feels so repetitive and boring that a beat switch actually makes it interesting. With O.O, it just felt very clunky and kind of unnecessary.

[Teaser] ZSunderverse II Luminescence: REALITY

Luminescence is made up of two halves, two different sides to the same record. The DREAM side blinds the listener with bursts of color, psychedelic imagery and glittery soundscapes. By taking the listener into a world of fantasy and imagination, it provides an escape from mundanity and the struggles of everyday life with three Korean songs. On the other hand, the REALITY side drags the listener down to earth, waking them up to the harshness of life with abrasive textures, fiery cosmic imagery and monochrome palettes. The raw feelings of the people struggling with the challenges of the real world are conveyed with three English songs. Nevertheless, the two sides still creep into each other, with traces of growing pains making it to the DREAM side as you slowly wake up, and a glimmer of hope shining through the REALITY side.

The intro track "Luminescence" welcomes the listener into the Janian world of the album with narration in both English and Korean, followed by a kaleidoscopic drum-n-bass beat. ZSunderverse project manager Sentrie makes her singing debut on this track, which she penned alongside ZSunder.

"EYE", a glossy blend of UK garage and nu-disco sensibilities calling back to the shiny, golden days of K-pop. Featuring lyrics written by Cosmic Panda and production done by Luca (both who previously collaborated for previous album delight, “Funland”), the song features Brazilian-American singer Marcelo, who also contributed to the composition. The song imagines a conversation between three different stages in the life of 'I': child ('아이' in Korean), teenager and adult share their worries and dreams with one another, as he discovers his true color and opens his third 'EYE'.

"What You Gonna Do", a classic house track, sees the return of Chilean producer Martin Noon (Superhero) and Korean-American singer-songwriter eunj. (To Be Continued, Want You) to the project in an unexpected combination. Called by ZSunder "a song that smells good", it is augmented by the crunchy voice of Soren, who previously collaborated with ZSunder through the Orbitverse project that brought together LOONA fans to make an album in 2019.

"We Know Love" marks the debut on the music scene of young American producer MELI, and sees both the return to ZSunderverse of Filipina singer Seija-dono (Funland, When I Call You) and the first appearance of Turkish-American singer Serenity in a youthful and fun R&B tune telling the story of two people flirting with each other and yet too afraid to take their relationship to the next level.

The lightheartedness of the previous song is shattered to pieces when "CODE RED" wrestles its way into the listener's ears, kicking off the REALITY side of the record. Here, ZSunder pieces together drafts from returning producers benstronaut (To Be Continued) from Brazil and Trescoda (Superhero) from the Philippines, creating a chaotic and hellish backdrop for a hard-hitting hip-hop track featuring Visayan triple threat Trescoda, Lorenz and LULU (When I Call You) rapping about the ongoing battle in their minds against their inner demons.

Sixth track "Home" provides a breather from the intensity of CODE RED with a city pop-infused R&B track co-produced with California based Filipina picassio and Vietnamese-German Qunibert. Albeit both of them previously worked together on Want You from Iridescence, this time Qunibert takes a more active role in songwriting, showcasing his jazz piano training. picassio herself and Taiwanese-American Tanya L, previously featured on Iridescence's Superhero, sing about how "home" can help one make it through the obstacles of life.

Lastly, "self reflection", where LULU ponders in front of a mirror about self-doubt and falling short of one's own and other people's expectations. But she will keep on dreaming as long as she can, and her drive is reflected in the guitar-laden arrangement contributed by wibby (USA) and Shrinjay Ghosh (Singapore), bringing ZSunder in uncharted territory. The song ends as a choir fades into the background, leaving the album on a hopeful note.

The album will premiere on ZSunder's YouTube channel on October 10, 2021 and will debut on streaming platforms worldwide the following day. Visualizers for all songs on the album will be released over the course of the following weeks.

ZSunder 2021-09-21 | I enjoyed the song actually. I'm more surprised with the amount of NCT fans that are shocked by how bad it is, when NCT released MAD DOG a year ago...that song should have prepared you for what was to come.

ZSunder 2021-09-15 | Thought that a Future Funk remix would fit this song very well! Had fun chopping up the different sections. It was a bit tricky to make a Future Funk version of a very hype song, but I tried. The poor audio quality is very much on purpose.

Thoughts on the song, I liked it the first listen. It gets tiring very quick though, which is why I think I prefer Starseed. The City Pop version sounds more like a Lounge Mix to me...

今月の少女 LOONA Starseed (Improved Mixing)

ZSunder 2021-09-15 | This was the best I could do with all the materials given.

In the original, the instrumental is mixed in a way that some elements are missing when you listen in mono/through phone speakers, and it makes the vocals sound louder than its supposed to be. That problem is fixed in this version. Made the drums a tad louder as well.

Thoughts on the song, its really good! I love the intro, the bridge I'm a little iffy on, but overall its goood. I'll just ignore the vocal mixing whenever I listen. I know this is how most JPop is mixed but still, not the biggest fan of it.

We don't exactly know for sure who adds in the bass slide, but my best guess would be Yoo Young-Jin who is credited as producer/arranger for all of the songs in the Bass Slide segment (except for DFTF and Punch). Another possible candidate would be Kenzie but she is mostly credited as a lyricist/composer and not as a producer. It could even be LSM himself for all we know.

3:00 Common SM Tropes
I did wanna share some more examples of SM songs using processed vocals and catchy basslines as the core of their tracks, though the video might get pretty long.
K-Pop is very much inspired by 90's R&B and Hip Hop. SM is especially interested in bringing it into the mainstream. Though with their newly established "SMCU", they're going for a more 2012 Dubstep route with some of their title tracks but mostly with content outside of their full songs like teasers and promotional videos (aespa's SYNK project, NCT interludes, SuperM member teasers)

Also I TOTALLY FORGOT TO INCLUDE some f(x) songs in here, Red Light would definitely fit into the beat switch section since I considered ICC. I wasn't too sure if I should include ICC in the first place since it doesn't switch up as much as the other songs did. I wanted to include Sherlock and One as well because I feel like those two are worth noting even if they're basically 2-song medleys.
