If you’d like to dive a little deeper you can sign up for the 3 part intro to mycology course at the Olympic College in Bremerton. This is a non-credit class for personal enrichment. Aaron instructs the class in person, which covers what fungi is, how it grows, and its relationship to the world around it. The second class covers introduction to wild mushrooms and mushroom identification, and the third class goes over fungi cultivation and the history of mycological sciences and taxonomy. There is usually a foray into the woods for students who have attended the 3 classes. The classes are only offered in person right now, but they may be made into an online version soon. To learn more or to enroll for classes follow the link below.

We will not accept any responsibility for negligence or accidental ingestion of poisonous mushrooms or plants. These videos are not intended to be a definitive field guide, but rather a starting point to become familiar with habitat, everyone is encouraged to do their own studies, acquire literature or internet resources to safely and confidently identify wild foods before they eat them. When eating a new wild mushroom, it is advised to start with only a small amount, and make sure that it is fresh and that it is cooked thoroughly. Some mushrooms do not agree with certain individuals, and this is typically discovered on a case-by-case basis. All the ideas expressed in the comments should be taken with a large grain of salt. I don’t think there is any other field of study or science that has more misinformation being shared so freely and boldly. Mushroom Wonderland and Aaron himself have no opinion and neither encourage nor discourage the use of mushrooms containing mind-altering compounds. These mushrooms contain powerful chemicals and should be treated with a high level of responsibility. Any video topics on the habitat, natural distribution, and morphological features of psychoactive mushrooms portrayed on this channel are purely for scientific and educational purposes.

This is a great mushroom to hunt and to learn about foraging with, it was my first. It's distinct look, odor, and texture, make this an easy place to start if you're new to wild foraging. There are a few look alikes, like the Jack-o-lantern mushroom, Ompholotus- but they don't occur here in the NW. If you live where Jacks do fruit, familiarize yourself with their ecology and you will avoid a stomach ache, they aren't deadly.
We will have a good look at the differences between "Pacific Golden Chanterelles," Cantharellus formosus, the "Rainbow Chanterelle," Cantharellus roseocanus, the "Cascade Chanterelle," Cantharellus cascadensis, and the "White Chanterelle," Cantharellus subalbidus. They are all great edibles and in this video you will learn all about the differences between them.

Joining the mushroom club was one of my biggest steps into getting truly involved into the hobby of mycology. To meet with such a group of varied expertise and knowledge about mushrooms has been invaluable in my journey. I encourage everyone to join their local mushroom club and if you're in my neck of the woods come join us and you can come on some of the campouts and forays. Link to the club below.

A team of volunteers, led by Graham Steinruck and Amy Honan, PhD, headed to the shores of the former Lake Aldwell area to see what kind of fungal life is moving back into the area after 12 years of returning the river to it's natural course. By sampling the fungus underground and above ground, the project aims to get a glimpse into what it looks like when Mother Nature restores precious fungi to an ecosystem.

Philadelphia native, William Padilla Brown ran for mayor of his town when he was only 18 years old, is on the leading edge of cordyceps cultivation, a brilliant medicinal fungi that grows in the wild off of larvae and insects. He's also a leader in the cannabis industry, touring the country in search of autoflower seeds and companies driving to do the same things he's doing. He's a game changer and he steps out of the box every time. I've had the pleasure of meeting him a few times and listening to these lectures which always catch me off guard and teach me something new.

Everyone is encouraged to do their own studies, acquire literature or internet resources to safely and confidently identify wild foods before they eat them. Mushroom Wonderland has no opinion, and neither encourage nor discourage the use of mushrooms containing mind-altering compounds. These mushrooms contain powerful chemicals and should be treated with a high level of responsibility. Any video topics on the habitat, natural distribution, and morphological features of psychoactive mushrooms portrayed on this channel are purely for scientific and educational purposes.

The second class covers introduction to wild mushrooms and mushroom identification, and the third class goes over fungi cultivation and the history of mycological sciences and taxonomy.
