honestly, the audio in this started as something serious and turned into a meme fest of hidden sound effects and ring mods so if anything, think of it as a tribute to all those guitarists on youtube and instagram that post short snippets of pure destructionEpilogueKmac20212023-07-26 | 26-07-23 - Epilogue AKA TAAGN part 2
Well, here we are. The end of the Djune/Djuly project. It's been fun working on this over the last couple of months. This song was made as a sequel to a certain popular video on this channel so I hope it fits as the final puzzle piece. Thanks for listening and checking out the project.waking up without youKmac20212023-07-19 | 19-07-23 - waking up without you a remnant of a shelved shoegaze/black metal project and a tribute to those no longer with usWPTKmac20212023-07-12 | 12-07-23 - WPT aka Weird Picking Thing Just another tune that began with a weird pick-scraping shape. There's not a lot going on with the guitars on this tune but all the programming and drum patterns were very fun to experiment with. Apologies for the video being kinda boring to look at, I've not been feeling great the last couple of days so my energy/patience is done this week. Hope you enjoy the tune and see ye next week. The Pause (Feat. Matthew Parker)Kmac20212023-07-05 | 05-07-23 - The Pause (Feat. Matthew Parker) a throwback for anyone who paid attention to my SoundCloud round about the time I started kinda popping off on YouTube. I wrote this 5 years ago with the idea that I'll make it something more but like most plans I make, it never came to anything. fast forward a wee bit later, I receive a message from someone telling me they had written a vocal melody and lyrics for the song. I listened to it and instantly fell in love with it. It felt like the song was complete. I decided that with this project, I can update the song a little bit and finally give it a place on my channel. Musically, I don't think it's the most exciting song but it is what it is Thanks to Matthew who made this song complete with his amazing performanceAl Gore RhythmKmac20212023-06-26 | 26-06-23 - "Al Gore Rhythm"
Back to originals for this week, this song basically acts as a sibling to 15243. This one came from a weird picking rhythm that I thought sounded cool inspired by Mattias Eklundh's Konnakal rhythms (the song was originally going to have some Konnakal vocals in it but I sounded so bad). Again, this song is the result of experimenting with drum programming which explains the caveman dumb dumb riffs. Although the riff at the end is quite fun as I have dubbed it "the party riff"
See you next month!clipping. - Story 2 (Metal Cover)Kmac20212023-06-19 | 19-06-23: clipping - Story 2 (Metal Cover)
Bit of a different thing this week. Rather than being focused on the guitars, this was more of a way to get used to having time signature changes in FL Studio. I love clipping and this song in particular uses time signature changes and a BPM change to intensify the story being told so I figured why not turn it into a "metal" version? if you're a fan of industrial, I highly recommend checking clipping out. The blend of experimental, industrial sampling with hip-hop elements is truly amazing. (i really hope YouTube doesn't take this one down because I used the music video, I just wanted people to see it lol)
I highly recommend reading the lyrics while listening to the song for added dread lmao.BittersweetKmac20212023-06-12 | 12/06/23: Bittersweet AKA "Fast 7/8 Riff" (always creative with the project files)
This song started as an attempt to write a song in the same vein as the band Vola as well as attempting to write verse vocals in the style of Steven Wilson. From there, it expanded into a mash of braindead riffs that focus more on a messy tone than the actual melody. I figured the chorus needed to be a bit more melodic since the rest of the song was a drag. Simple verse and complicated chorus is definitely the wrong way round but I like the way the structure is.
hope you enjoy and see ye next week!15243Kmac20212023-06-05 | 05/06/23 - "15243"
The main inspiration from this song came from a dumb riff pattern I messed around with years ago but wasn't really good enough to play it properly and keep it consistent. I also asked my very talented friend Loam to solo over the 10/8 section and he absolutely killed it. (who just so happens to be releasing a music video today! Go check it out: youtube.com/watch?v=sfMg17hAqCQ)
Lyrics: ( Honestly, the vocals are just there to fill a space so don't think about them too much) Beneath the eerie glow, I'm lost in the endless show. Trials beyond compare I face, Each death consumed by pure disgrace. In every corner lurk horrors dread, That leave my mortal soul in dread. Consumed by this dark obsession, I'm lost in utter possession. Despite the pain, I press on still, The addiction has consumed my will. Though countless deaths have left me broken, I won't concede, my spirit's not yet stolen. For in the challenge lies a hidden bliss, A twisted solace in the abyss. What lies beyond is a rare release, A catharsis in a world of ceaseless disease. Am I too far gone In this endless cycle Feed this obsession Feel this possession Cast my soul aside Nowhere left to hide Through this aggression Achieve Ascensionquick updateKmac20212023-06-04 | me ranting about taking a break, getting a false strike and my plans for the next couple monthsthe most scuffed one-take vocal playthrough of Idol HandsKmac20212022-07-20 | "aim low and avoid disappointment" - Zack, suite life of Zack and Cody.Kmac2021 - Idol Hands [Official Lyric Video]Kmac20212022-04-25 | "Idol Hands"
