#anime,#recommendation,#minkymomoThis series drove Japanese editors to tearskenny lauderdale2024-03-24 | Imagine waiting an entire year for your favorite thing to post something new. In this video I review & Discuss The Spirit of Wonder. Spirit of wonder is a manga by Japanese artist Kenji Tsuruta. Often called the slowest artist of all time, his works are characterized by their detailed art & ornate backgrounds. Also there's science involved, real monster movie stuff. Things get big, or things get small, but there's always a theme of outer space & looking up at the stars. All the footage in the video was ripped from VHS tapes through VHS decode, so you might say I'm a bit of a scientist myself. I also talk about wandering emanon & the emanon manga.

Created by the same company that made the models for cult classic Godzilla, the dinosaur was the attention grabber of MSX Dinosaur Land which took place between December 1st, 1985 and January 16th, 1986. It was one of few known marketing efforts from Microsoft/ASCII to widely promote their MSX standard for 8bit home computers.
An estimated 230.000 people visited the event, where they could see various models of MSX computers, including Arabic Al-Amaiah units and each of over 40 other MSX models which were being produced at the time. The essence of the standard was captured by a synchronized display of 9 screens, controlled by an equal amount of MSX computers, each produced by a different brand. There were mini-events such as game competitions and various companies like T&E Soft, The LINKS and ASCII had their own booths to promote their MSX related activities. All the while, every two hours the dinosaur would roar loudly - a sound that was of course also generated by an MSX computer.
Finding out about the event, Bill Gates was furious at Kazuhiko Nishi - at the time board member and technical director of Microsoft and with his company ASCII the representative of Microsoft in Japan - for spending the considerable sum of 150 million yen (~ 750.000 US$ at the time) on the dinosaur alone and a rumoured 1 million dollars on the entire event. According to this 1986 article in the Wall Street Journal it was an important event in a series of characters colliding, which inevitably led to Bill Gates and Kazuhiko Nishi - and their respective companies Microsoft and ASCII - parting ways, leaving Nishi $500,000 in debt with Microsoft.
Years later, during MSX Magazine Festival 2003 Nishi looked back at this, referring to the 500 million dollar marketing budget Microsoft had then spent on promoting the first XBox. Considering the difficulties Microsoft had back then to get a good market share for their new attempt to enter the consumer market with Microsoft backed hardware Nishi mentioned that that sum of money might have been better spent by just giving Xboxes away for free...
Description source: https://archive.ph/YoBBgSilver Fang: The Dog Anime thats Only Popular in Finlandkenny lauderdale2022-10-22 | You can still buy this series at the grocery store, every library has the DVD, & it was so savage they can't even air it again. I think it shows up somewhere in a cell phone game but that's it. There's no mention of it in any of their timelines, and they don't make a lot of merch for it which is really weird. Maybe they don't own it anymore? Known as Silver Fang, & Ginga Nagareboshi gin, it follows a pack of dogs racing through japan in search of stray warriors to attack the evil bear kingdom that's slowly washing over japan. Manly dogs fight manly things, and if it weren't about dogs hunting bears you could replace the cast with japanese samurai & it'd pretty much be the same. It was followed up by another series, but while it has it's moments, it was very low budget (read the manga instead). Even with the many sequels, it's surprising not well known in the west. Every single person who grew up in Scandinavia grew up with this show at one point. Mad anime dogs attack bears, but some of the best moments don't even have dogs, & the early episodes are my favorite. The power of the songs is something to mention too. There's a vocal theme song for most of the bear fights & they pump you up with 80s synth like you wouldn't believe. Kenny Lauderdale (me) reviews this shonen jump series that Japan & finland have been talking about since the 80s. Definitely an anime I recommend. Keep your eyes on the mountains, there's bears afoot. They don't make anime like ginga nagareboshi gin anymore but they really should. Let me know if you want to recap anime like this in the future. I like giving out anime recommendations but it's getting harder if there isn't some huge story behind them.
In this video, I play through the Pikmin 2 game on the Nintendo gamecube, using the dolphin emulator. I cover the first five hours including a few bosses. Kenny Plays: Pikmin 2 is a video series where I play through a game on my channel, usually within a day or two of an anime review. In this series, I play through the game using a different strategy every time, so you can learn how I play the game and gain an advantage over the competition!
If you're a fan of the Pikmin games and you want to see how they're played on the gamecube, then this video is for you!I Found the WORST Boxing Animekenny lauderdale2022-08-09 | There's bad anime, & then there's whatever this is. My reaction to this was both warranted, & understated. Even the worst movie would be crushed like a tin can for attempting to approach something of this level. If you're gonna do a roast, it better be legendarily poorly animated, make the characters look different every single scene, & have music that's so cheap it's pulled from a public domain sound library...& this has all that & more. This whole kenny lauderdale bad anime thing is surprisingly hard to do. You don't generally run into something on this level. I scrapped this review something like 30 times, came back to it, scrapped it again, rinse repeat & here we are. If there was ever a VHS tape that had a real life cursed anime on it, this would be it. Sometimes it doesn't move, sometimes there's live action for no reason, sometimes it'll look like it was drawn by different people, in different towns, who had all never seen anime before. This doesn't scrape the bottom of the barrel. This anime isn't the bottom of the barrel. This anime isn't below the bottom of the barrel. This anime doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same SENTENCE with barrels. Worst anime ever? ehhh, probably not but it's a special kind of bad that's difficult to describe. In a way I'd be less harsh on it if it were worse. At least then it would be more funny to make fun of it. At least then I would have some kind of reaction to it. If they ever make fake anime to lure anime fans into a field with some plastic ducks this is what it'd look like. This isn't something people should watch, it's more akin to what they'd test crash test dummies on to see what people's tolerance for garbage is. I know the kenny lauderdale channel has a few reaction videos to bad anime, but this is kind of the last one I can do. If there's something worse than this I don't want to know about it. Charge man ken was funny bad, this is just....bad bad. The person who wrote it used a PEN NAME, they didn't even attach their real identity to this. You wanted another bad anime? Well this is it, I hope you're ready for it.

An aesthetic, retro, classy anime for the hopeless romantics out there; heart cocktail is a reflection on the excess wealth & good times of 80's japan ,with a focus on the little connections people make in their everyday lives. It was made by Seizo Watase, who's series actually show up in museums. Probably the most pretty anime artist out there. I hope it gets fully subtitled one day. I mean really, when you think about it...what counts? I am so down in the trenches that a lot of this barely registers. For example, are puppets anime? How about SHADOW puppets. If I blink fast in japan is reality anime? What if a train with manga on it drives past you REALLY fast. Does that turn into anime? I have 25 increasingly stupid examples that are like borderline anime, but where do you even draw that line? Does it matter? Ehhh, probably not. Fun to argue about though. #animeJapans First Super Hero - Golden Batkenny lauderdale2020-08-02 | Before Superman, Before Batman, before One Punch Man, before My Hero Academia, before manga, comic books, before anime as we know it, there was a laughing skeleton that stood for justice, and he may be the most historic superhero of all time. In this video Kenny Lauderdale (me), breaks down the entire anime history of Golden Bat, from the Series to the movies, to his multiple pieces of lost media. I might have gone a bit overboard with this one, but Golden bat influences anime so much it's kind of crazy. Known as Fantomas, Fantaman, fantasmagorico, ogon bat, ougon bat, & a bunch of other names; this superhero series might have the record for Anime Firsts. First manga? Kinda. First SUBTITLED manga? Yeah probably. Even Steven Universe's Lapis Lzuli takes inspiration from this series (or maybe it's a coincidence, argue about it). He pioneered manga with kamishibai, & anime might not even exist without him, not in the same form anyway. He might even be the first tokusatsu character, & the first rider if the rumors of his 50s film are true. Japan's first super hero is here, & he's a laughing skeleton wearing a cape.

Kenny lauderdale reviews Dragon's Heaven, a beautiful anime from the 80s that history has almost forgotten. Moebius may have never lent his art to an anime, but if watched this & told me he didn't make it I wouldn't believe you. The best Mecha anime tend to get overlooked, but this ova is one of those anime that's so beautiful to look at that it may as well not even be mecha. Moebius's art style influenced anime artists so heavily in the 1980s that for a brief time, anime like this was indistinguishable from what it was paying respect to. Makoto Kobayashi was one of those artists. If moebius made anime, this would be it. Dragons heaven also had a series of manga continued in makoto kobayashi's hyper weapon art books if you're interested in learning more. It reminds me a lot of jean giraud's work in wizard magazine which has a similiar art style.

It's so bad it may actually be the best anime of all time. Dive into madness at 2 frames a second as chargeman ken defends the earth with all the animation of a tiger electronic wristwatch. It has every error in the book. Hilariously bad animation? Check. Badly DRAWN animation? Big check. People's mouths don't even match what they're saying, & this anime was made in JAPAN. They didn't need to dub it into english & they still couldn't get that right. The length of the episodes doesn't even make sense. The AMOUNT of episodes in this anime series doesn't make sense. NOTHING about chargeman ken is normal. Just being in the general area of this anime makes anime you thought were bad into masterpieces. Maybe if you watch this video, and that's what it is cause it sure isn't a review, it might make a LITTLE more sense. I doubt it though. I really do. So bad it's good? Just have a guy go Rambo & hunt them down on foot & cut out the middleman. In this video I talk about an anime series called armor hunter mellowlink. Its a spinoff of the 80s anime armored trooper votoms, but it does it's own thing so you can watch it without being a mecha fan at all.
