PS3 Superslim BadWDSD Booting Petitboot and FreeBSD 14.3 from Coldboot Test คาฟู 2025-07-08 | Pointless video, just showing my old dreams and one of personal goal of this modchip came true.I always wanted cheap, easy to find and low power PowerPC machine for personal server/dev use. Who would expect this to become reality? PowerMac G5 is much faster but also uses lot of power and new Power stuff is way too expensive. So PS3 Superslim is the way.This video shows booting a special version of qCFW, it replaces PS3 OS kernel with Petitboot so you can use it as headless/permanent server. Internal HDD not required even on NOR. But autoboot function on Petitboot through ps3-bl-option requires Internal HDD and VFLASH region ready. This can be done through Rebug Toolbox. You just resize and install petitboot on toolbox like OtherOS++Oh yeah, and I'm probably only one in the world who still use FreeBSD on PS3. At least Linux still got a bit of users and maintainer, but FreeBSD? Even on generic desktop/server doesn't have much user so I'm not expect any user or other maintainer for PS3. So I'm likely the only one left.
