The Not Very Epic Livestream Sound Speeds 2024-01-02 | If you've been wondering if there would be an Epic Livestream this year, here's your answer.The SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes made it very hard for us crew to get shows in 2023. Having a family to support, I got a Class A driver's license and for the past 5 months I've been driving a 53' flatbed in the lower 48 states. I am only home 2-3 days for every 24-35 days I'm on the road. That has made it difficult to do anything except drive.internet isn't great on the road so no, there won't be an Epic Livestream this year. Will Sound Speeds continue while Im on the road? Sound Speeds 2023-10-13 | Although I'm not wanting to connect the two worlds, sound and trucking, if you have any desire to see what I have been working on in the trucking world - here's what you need to know.I started a YouTube channel months ago, that's buried deep in the YouTube servers, about my thoughts, what I'm learning, etc. So if you're interested in this vlog, I'm going want you to contribute towards it.For the past few weeks I've been doing time lapse recordings of my daily drives and I upload them when I can. They are unlisted but I have them all in a playlist. Each drive is hundreds of miles and usually no more than 12 minutes. The only camera I have that can do this is the Insta360 X3 but it's not great with low light (see Speed Bumps) but the DJI Action 4 is much better there. It also records in a format that's ready to edit so I won't have to spend hours converting video overnight. Rodyweil R003 Analog Preamp Review Sound Speeds 2023-09-25 | It's very rare that I'll review products such as this, a 100% analog microphone preamp. The reason I chose to review this product? Because it boasts 75dB of clean gain.Many podcasters and home recordists find themselves purchasing inexpensive one stop shops for all of their sound needs not realizing that the quality will be fair at best. Noisy preamps are the number one complaints you see online with consumers that have purchased discount audio gear. This is because the preamplifiers that increase the microphone audio signal are subpar and can't gain up a microphone without a lot of noise.Although the preamps aren't great in discount audio interfaces and recorders, the line level input is usually much quieter because there's not much gain involved once audio gets to line level. Microphone audio levels are very low - sometimes as low as 1mV while line level is 1000X higher than that. It takes far less expensive components to pass thru a one volt signal than amplify a 1 millivolt signal.The Rodyweil R003 analog microphone preamp could serve a high quality bridge between microphone and interface allowing you to bypass the low quality preamp in your interface and going in directly line level. The question is... is the R003 any good?
