I did transpose it back into its original key of G major, while PMJ's version was in F major. I first started working on this arrangement well over a year ago and then procrastinated forever on finishing the second half. In the end it's not nearly as grandiose as the PMJ version or even just as a piano solo, but I think it captured the essence and energy of the original quite well while offering a unique spin. What ultimately gave me the push to finish it was Creep being featured in the opening to the new Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Not a great reason but it reminded me to get back into the song and polish this up. It's the Star Wars I've been waiting for since the original trilogy. The calibre of storytelling easy eclipses anything else Disney has done so far with the franchise. The soundtrack is a big part of it. Sadly there's no "Main Theme" to the series, however the funeral march music on Ferrix during the "Rix Road" season finale was so hauntingly beautiful. Then the sudden switch to get rousing and inspirational... Goosebumps!This was a challenging arrangement, mostly in the way of finding a balance between staying true to the extremely slow nature of the original piece and bringing some complexity to it so it's not the most boring piano piece to play. On top of that, I wanted this version to be different from both Patrik's solo version as well as what our friends at SheetMusicBoss did prior in their arrangement. So I steered away from an accurate transcription of the original and leaned into an ear-candy chord progression while mashing it up with the other great Star Wars battle theme, Duel of The Fates, as well as the Imperial March which both thematically and musically fits really well.This was a mammoth project that we started planning back in January and it's ready just in time for Kenobi to finally bring Star Wars back to its former glory. Animenz has always been an inspiration to me. When he popped onto Youtube about a decade ago and brutally flexed on all other YouTube pianists with his godlike skill, I was in awe, just like everyone else. His arrangements are just fascinating. Guren No Yumiya has always been my favorite, along with Unravel. I know I will never be able to reach Animenz' level, but I challenged myself to try, to become a better pianist. That was back in 2015. I practiced this piece for almost a full year and got it to about 90%. Every musician would probably agree that the last 10% of polish are often the hardest.Those final 10% broke me. I gave up.Now, 7 years later, with Attack on Titan coming to end, I slapped myself back into the challenge. It's now or never. I finally feel confident enough to upload this. It's not perfect. I had to make a few adjustments to make it playable for a non-concert-pianist like me.
