Silent Hill 2 Remake - PS5 Tech Review - An Authentic UE5 Recreation... But What About Performance? Digital Foundry 2024-10-05 | Developer Bloober Team's remake of Silent Hill 2 is a surprise success in its telling of a Konami's original story, backed by an authentic visual recreation in Unreal Engine 5 - with Lumen reflections and GI. Comparisons to the PS2 original are fascinating to observe, where the studio has the bravery to deviate from the script where need be. Microsoft Auto SR Tested: AI Upscaling For Every Game... But How Good Is It? Digital Foundry 2024-08-06 | Microsoft's 'Windows on ARM' initiative isn't great for gaming right now - but its Auto SR technology is definitely intriguing. Using a hardware neural processing unit, Auto SR is a screen-space AI upscaler that takes game resolutions in the 700 to 900 line range and makes them look much more presentable on higher resolution displays - good for laptops for sure, but not that bad on a desktop either. It's not really comparable to DLSS etc, but it's certainly interesting and doesn't impact frame-rates - though it does add 12ms of input lag. Rich has the full low-down.
