What a better film to use than Genshin's animation "The Road Not Taken", showing a heartwarming relationship between Lumine and Aether! I find this animation to be really beautiful and natural so I went with a more simple and straightforward orchestration, without many flourishes. The fast pacing of the video was hard to deal with though, not leaving much space to develop ideas and melodies. In all, I'm pretty happy with how that turned out, so I hope you will also like it! 😁

Rachmaninov is a very important Russian composer from the late romantic classic era. His music can be very powerful but also very soft and lyrical at times. His prelude in G minor is a perfect example of this. It starts with a theme which sounds like a bit like a march with all the repeated chords. During the march, the forte and fortissimo passages can become insanely difficult because of how fast and loud you have to repeat big chords. The middle part really is lyrical, playing a lot around the V chord and having multiple voice lines to lead at the same time, slowly going back to the march theme.
I really like this prelude because of how beautiful and powerful it is, I hope this is your case too!
Have a great time watching the video! 😁

I've been very busy fo the past 2 months, not having a piano to work on but I try my best to be able to upload videos. I learnt few days ago that the pain I felt in my lefts wrist for more than 3 weeks was in fact a broken bone so I have to let my left hand rest for a bit of time. During the recovery, I will try to play pieces for the right hand alone so if you know or compose some, let me know! You can also tell me pieces you'd like me to arrange for the right hand alone in the comments or on discord!
Don't forget to take care of yourselves and enjoy some music! 😁

Liszt - Faribolo Pastour S.236/1Rubatissimo2020-08-14 | Faribolo Pastour, or Faribolo Pasteur, is a piece composed by Franz Liszt over a melody (originally for singer) written by Jacques Jasmin. In fact, Jasmin's song was itself written after the "Poème de Françonetto".
Faribolo Pastour is part of "Chansons de Bearn", collection of pieces composed by Liszt in Pau. This means a lot to me because Pau is the city where I've been born ! Liszt dedicated it to Caroline Dartigaux, with whom he was in love but unfortunately for him, Caroline's father didn't accept this relationship.
Anyway, after this brief history of the piece, I wish you to have a good time listening to it and I hope you'll like it ! 😁

For this one, I chose to play the first movement of a beautiful sonata written by Marc Gedeon. Today, we're listening to a beautiful piece composed by Groovy from my discord server. For a bit of history about this piece, Groovy tried (with a perfect success) to depict the sentiments of regret and sadness after a hero won against a tyrant and corrupted king he wished he never had to fight. Now, he has to live with the sentiment of being distraught at being a hero.

Chopin Nocturne n°21 B.108 in C minorRubatissimo2020-06-13 | This nocturne is the last nocturne from Chopin to have been published as it was done so posthumously 89 years after his death, in 1938. This is one of my favorite among Chopin's 21 nocturnes. Its simplicity lets the true beauty of these folk melodies reveal. This nocturne is also one of the rare ones finishing in a minor key so, as a minor keys' lover, I really appreciate that. I hope I managed to share my feelings towards this piece with you in this interpretation !

For the first video, I decided to play "Nagkubli" (which means "Hidden"), a waltz written by Rey Marvin Rizal (aka R.M Rizal). The text you can see in the video is in fact a poem he saw in a book of poems at his school. Here is the original poem (in tagalog language), followed by its english translation :
Sa ganda ng mga kulay, Sa iba't ibang ingay, Paglaho at pagluha'y nakatago, Kung saan lahat ng kasiyaha'y sumuko.
Of all the beauty of the hues, Of all the different noises, Evanescence and tears hidden, Where all happiness gave in.

In fact, I am Kilian Davies, a 20 year old French guy who's absolutely passionated by classical music since he began to play piano, 5 and a half years ago (I couldn't read a note before). Since my early childhood, I've always had a penchant for creation, and the domain of music is no exception to the rule. I thus tried to compose some pieces since my first year of piano studies. To stop speaking about me, I really hope this little nocturne will let you pull up a bit during this tough time where everyone is talking about the virus... Fortunately, there is always music to let us have a good time !

Pushkin Winter Road, oktavist : ZlatopolskyRubatissimo2020-04-08 | Here's a very good recording of Winter Road (Зимняя Дорога) sung by the Grand Academic Choir of All-Union National Radio Service and Central Television Networks in Moscow on October 6th 1980. This piece has been composed by Vissarion Shelabin who used the poem "Winter Road" written by Alexander Pushkin. The score might be slightly different than what is actually sung in the recording to fit perfectly the oktavist's register. Here, the oktavist is the impressive Mikhail Zlatopolsky who sang down to a contra B flat (B flat in the first octave) at the end of this piece.

These six pieces are some of the most beloved compositions that Johannes Brahms wrote for solo piano. Completed in 1893 and dedicated to Clara Schumann, the collection was the penultimate composition published during Brahms' lifetime. It was also his penultimate work composed for piano solo. Consistent with Brahms's other late keyboard works, Op. 118 is more introspective than his earlier piano pieces, which tended to be more virtuosic in character.
Discord server : discord.gg/aGwccB9F. Chopin - Prelude op. 28 n°20 in C minor : Largo (Evgeny Kissin)Rubatissimo2020-04-05 | Fryderyk Chopin (1810-1849) was a Polish composer who composed mainly for piano. He wrote his 24 preludes op. 28 between 1835 and 1839, each one corresponding to one unique key of the 24 keys.
The prelude n°20 is often called "Chord Prelude" (or even "Funeral March" by Hans von Bülow) due to its slow progression of quarter note chords. Originally, it was written in two sections of 4 mesures with the ending chord at measure 9 but Chopin later added a repeat of the last 4 measures to be played pp (contrasting with the p of the original measures) and an expressive crescendo leading towards the end.
At measure 3, an ambiguity is still remaining concerning the E in the last chord. Indeed, it is common for pianists to play an E♭even if it is written E♮in the same measure before, making the second E natural too. Hence, only few recordings are made playing this E♮ (for example Artur Rubinstein). In fact, in her book Chopin, an introduction to his piano works (2005) Willard A. Palmer notes that "[a]ccording to the editors of the Oxford edition, Chopin is supposed to have added a flat sign before the E in a copy belonging to one of his pupils. It does not appear in the Autograph or the original editions."
