RosieMotoSome people say always leave your bike in gear at red lights in case of danger behind you, so you can escape. I agree with the idea behind it, but I personally can't hold the clutch for very long, so I use this simple "hybrid" when I know a red light is going to take a while.
Simply keep your shifting leg on the footpeg after shifting to neutral, and balance the bike with your other leg. When light turns green, you've only got a small move to make to shift to 1st, and can even return your foot back to the peg instead of the ground. The bike balances itself as you accelerate. This may be good for those who get discomfort/pain from moving leg from ground up to shifter and back to ground.
Also I like to keep an eye on my mirrors as cars come up to me at a red light. Sometimes they accidentally start to inch forward as their attention goes 100% on their cellphones, so that's another thing to keep in mind after their initial stop.

Safety Tip: Alternative to Keeping Motorcycle in Gear at Red Lights (prevent rear endings)RosieMoto2017-06-26 | Some people say always leave your bike in gear at red lights in case of danger behind you, so you can escape. Or will I...Scooter wheel not spinning freely when tightened/bearings issue (pt 2)RosieMoto2020-06-28 | Audio only. I wanted to know if this back wheel issue I'm having actually affected the scooter's performance and how fast/far it goes. Maybe it wouldn't matter once weight is on the scooter? So I did some tests. Turns out it does make a noticeable difference.Q: Kick scooter wheel not spinning freely - wheel nuts too tight?RosieMoto2020-06-13 | As happy as I am with this A5 Air kick scooter, it bothered me from day 1 that the back wheel was so resistant to rolling... so I went to see if loosening the nuts to it would help, and yeah, that definitely fixed it, but it takes a good bit of loosening to get it completely free, and at that point the wheel is slightly wiggle-able. I imagine it's not enough to be unsafe, but I'm worried the nuts being this loose they might loosen over time from vibrations etc... or will they? Since there's a nut on each side maybe it won't? I can't spin them with my fingers...they're not at all THAT loose, but it's easy to spin with the tool.Razor A5 Air first impressionsRosieMoto2020-06-10 | Here's what I have to say about this kick scooter after a couple mile first ride.I made a decision on which kick scooter to getRosieMoto2020-06-04 | I tested out my thrift store Razor kick scooter for real today, after having a good first impression of it from a short ride in an area that didn't really test its capabilities much. Turns out that first impression about it was...not exactly right. I imagined the A5 Lux not being a ton better, seeing how it's got the same 8" wheel size as my generic adult scooter did, and that one was scary (although less scary than the Razor A!) too... so I went with the A5 Air. Maybe with that one I can actually enjoy the ride without being constantly scared of getting stuck on all the crackly sidewalks around here.A $3 kids kick scooter got me back interested in scootersRosieMoto2020-06-03 | My generic/cheap adult kick scooter I got off eBay didn't go so well for me, and I lost interest entirely in the idea of kick scooters. Then a half rusted kid's Razor scooter I came across that I barely fit on, gave me a good enough first impression that I'm considering buying something new.Pyle PDMIC58 vs Shure SM58 - A/B sound comparisonRosieMoto2020-05-23 | I owned the Pyle PDMIC58 for about 6 months up to this point and was constantly trying to tweak it once I started to notice how sibilant and treble-y my recordings were compared to other people's stuff. I thought I could be cheap and use EQ and other effects to fix its quirks, but it ended up being a constant headache for me, trying to get it to sound right. To the point I started to think something's wrong with my voice.
I bought the SM58 a few days ago and all the problems I was having are gone; no *need* for any effects; it sounds good as is in my opinion and seems like a solid baseline. But when I compared the two mics side by side with all variables put aside (windscreens, pop filters, vocal booth, etc), I was taken by surprise (an understatement) how similar the two sound in general!
The Pyle to me sounds like an SM58 that has its treble turned up...up...too far up. Then has weird shapes and quirks in places that make certain frequency areas stand out. Then the further away you get from the Pyle, the more those things exaggerate. The speakers that tickle my curiosityRosieMoto2020-05-17 | I don't know how Bose made it possible for such a small speaker to make such a low bass (consistent down to 60hz), but it's really making me want to get them... so I get a used pair and then this happens. But I still want them. But I know these other speakers are technically better and I'll enjoy them more. But I still want them... If I get both, one will end up sitting, and it'll be the Bose most likely. But I still want them!$4 eBay dual layer pop filter (+desk stand, +shock mount) for handheld microphonesRosieMoto2020-01-23 | I was searching for a pop filter that was cheap and effective, and came across these little things.
