Verse 1:
I can’t believe in anything
There’s always more that I
I never thought before
The brighter lights see deeper sights
That make me feel
Like I’ve given up the fight
Chorus:
I feel like I’m out of control
And I can’t see clearly any more
My heart feels like it’s lost its soul
And I just can’t remember what I’m fighting for
Verse 2:
If life’s a dream why does it seem
More like a nightmare
In the ways I care about
The more they take the more we break
There’s something dangerous
That we face when we’re awake
Break:
Oh Lord help me make some sense
Help me see the things I need too see
Lift the veil from my clouded eyes
To understand what I just can’t believe
Verse 3:
I can’t believe in anything
There’s nothing left
For us to reassess
The cold we feel is all that’s real
This selfish fear
Makes everything feel so unclear

The song tells the story of a soldier facing the harsh realities of war. It holds a special place in both the history of music, and in my heart, because it was one of the last recordings Phil Lynott made before his death in 1986.
I would like to thank all the great musicians who appear on this, you guys are the best, and you are helping me live out my teenage fantasies - God bless you all.

The word "maybe" has always seemed strange to me. It suggests confusion, and indecisiveness, but also hopefulness and compromise. Perhaps it is, therefore, one of the most "human" of words. And maybe "perhaps" is the second!
Verse 1:
It sounds cold
And I don’t know why
But I’m over you so please don’t cry
We got hot
Then we turned off
Like a shooting star across the sky
I - - - feel - - - lost - among a million dreams of everything
We - - - fell - - - so far down in between the screams
Chorus:
Well maybe it’s been said
That we’re loosing track and out of our heads
Maybe it’s true to say
That we’re slowly spiralling forgetting to pray
And maybe we can be
All the changes we want to see
But maybe we just got old
And our story now is forever told
Verse 2:
Can you see
It’s so distracting
Got a hundred issues with the way we’re acting
Play dumb
Or be afraid
Keep it all inside but just stop reacting
I - - - know - - - why - but I can never explain to you
How - - - it - - - feels when every lie feels true

Verse 1:
Hold my hand
I want you here
Don’t turn away from me when I
Need to feel
Your eyes are full of tears
But you can’t drown your light in them
Catch the day
Make it give you all it has
Listen when I say to you
That all we have is now
The world can paint you blue
But only if you let it ruin you
Chorus:
I’ll speak in a language
That everybody understands
There’ll be no illusions
Or false promise of Wonderlands
And I’ll never tell you
What I think you need to hear
No need to interpret
This message is loud and clear
Verse & Chorus Instrumental
Break:
Don’t let go
Don’t slip away
Stay with me
Another day
Hold on tight
And find the words
That you always
Wanted to say
Verse 2:
Turn my head
Make me see you near
Sit a while and whisper
All the words I want to hear
I’ll cast away the shadows
And I’ll defeat the fear
Chorus Repeat:

The title of this is confusing, because I really don't know much! But what I do know is that this life is not a dress rehearsal, that Love is the only thing of any true value, that our children are our future, and that we are here for a good time, not for a long time.
While the world seems to be at the precipice right now, look around you at the actual human beings, take time to listen to them, see how they all want the same things: peace, opportunity, compassion, and love. We have a choice, either we let our worst natures win the day, and see everything crushed for all eternity, or we take responsibility for the world we are living in, learn to listen, to talk, and to be compassionate in the face of selfishness and greed. Just because we feel powerless to change things doesn't mean we are, or that we have licence to behave like savages.
Verse 1:
I fall and hit the ground
Much more when you’re not around
I try not to be afraid
Of all the plans that I made
I take time to heal
I trust the way I feel
My head is in the clouds
So high I can’t hear a sound
Chorus:
I feel
I feel your arms around me
I know
The pleasures of the world we’re in
I hope
And I pray for better days
I know
That I will never change my ways
Verse 2:
Trust me to say your name
Keep me as someone to blame
Hold me away from the fire
Touch me and make me desire
Verse 3:
I’ll face the world that I made
And all the promises I gave
My heart from cradle to grave
Beats for the one who has saved me
As a HUGE Gary Moore and Phil Lynott Fanboy it was a blast.

Verse 1:
I like a carousel twisting
I can feel my centre pulled away
Someone shouts a melody
But the whole world
Will never sing it
Every life has an entropy
Sinking down in a world of make-believe
Like the end of a symphony
When silence
Is all that’s left to hear
Chorus:
And I have dreams
But they won’t let me sleep at night
Sometimes the nightmares
Are in front of me
So I shake the cage
Like I think the bars will fall away
Sometimes illusions
Are an ecstasy
Verse 2:
So I just woke myself again
To the sound of the road and the pouring rain
All the birds in a grey sky
Singing memories
To the open highways
Paint it all in a mystery
Write it down in a poem never read
Shout it into a telephone
To be captured
But never answered
Middle Bit:
While we’re here
I should tell you something
No reason why
But no second chance to make it right
And should I fail
Or disregard the way you feel
I think the shame
Would never fall away from me

Verse 1:
I’m not wedded
To the dust that covers me
We are born to feel
So endlessly
Chorus:
Shine your light
Shine your light on me
You’re burning bright
So shine your light on me
Carry me
When I stumble at your feet
Hold me tight
And shine your light on me
Verse 2:
I’m not hypnotised
By the baubles of the world
Can we realise
That some things can’t be bought and sold
Rocky Bit (Middle 8):
Turn me on
To your loving heart
Make me start
To shine a light on everyone
Verse 3:
Sacred Father
Shine your light on Everyone
Shine your light on Everyone
Please protect us all

I must have recorded this a few dozen times since the early 1990's, when it was written, but this version was done in 2022
This song is dedicated to the late, great, poet and activist Benjamin Zephaniah, who was to my generation, and many others ,the most inspirational of men. I met Benjamin on several occasions and found him to be an exceptional person, as erudite and aware as any man ever. He inspired this song before his untimely passing, after I attended a screening of his last project, which was a reflection on the Handsworth riots in 1981, and included the excellent photography of another long-time friend, Pogus Ceasar.
If you are not aware of either of these creative giants, please look them up, you will be enriched by doing so.
Verse 1:
Turn on the news
See all the angles
Sometimes it feels
Too hot to handle
A world of lies
And truths that we’ve forgotten
It comes in waves
I feel them breaking
Are we all slaves?
Are we forsaken?
The things we hide
From all who question us
Chorus:
A rising star is only seen
If we are told to look for it
But you can see with your own eyes
How many stars are in the sky
You have heard the static of their cries
How many times, how many times?
Verse 2:
Replay the days
To make revisions
And second-guess
Our past decisions
As if we’d know
If we were never shown it
Why is dissent
Worse than division
Our lives are spent
Just chasing visions
Convinced the truth
Will only weaken us
@PeteJohnsMusic
Thank you to Pete Johns, whose idea #songtember is. His vision, to encourage and support people wanting to create music for themselves, and for others, is an inspiration to us all.
This is the first time I have entered a song to this celebration of musical creativity. I hope you all enjoy it.
In full disclosure, this song was written in September, just not "this current" September, but I never did a proper recording of it. This version was created in September 2024 :)
VERSE 1:
There’s more to life than sheer perfection
I have years to go
And people that I need to see
And time just flies
Through a cold September sky
CHORUS:
All the fear they try to breed in me
They can spin their tales
Make me see their dreams
Love is everywhere it’s in everyone
There is really only all our love
in everything everything
And I can almost fly
Under cold September skies
VERSE 2:
Heaven has its own reflection
It takes years to see
Even then you won’t believe
Tales of absolutes and cruel intentions
I have memories surrounding me
But not enough for me to see
All the truth and lies
Under cold September skies
CHORUS:
All the hate they try to feed to me
They can spin their tales
Make me see their dreams
But love is everywhere its in everyone
There is nothing more than ove
in everything everything
And I can almost fly
Through the cold September skies
I don't know all that much, but I do know Love is Forever. And I know we are blessed to be able to feel the warmth and comfort of love, even if for the briefest of mortal moments.
Tell someone you love them today, even if it is just your Cat! It is always worth remembering why we are all here, and what we are supposed to be doing.
Verse 1:
Well we laughed and cried all through the night
We danced until the early light
Spoke about a million things
And wondered what tomorrow’d bring
Felt like we could free
Every single possibility
The stars went pale and faded out
Like all the dreams we spoke about
The cost of every memory
Is the sorrow made from what has been
But I could never see
All the obstacles in front of me
Chorus:
All fired up and pretty
You took my breath away
Burning up with passion
Love is not a simple game
All fired up and pretty
You took my breath away
Love like this is forever
It reaches out and touches me
Verse 2:
Time just plays its games with us
From early morning through to dusk
Seems it makes the flowers bloom
It’s always over far to soon
Years and years we see
Flying past you and me
But love they say shall conquer all
And every heart can hear its call
An open book of how we feel
A guiding light to everything
It answers every need
Never speaking just to be believed
Chorus:
All fired up and pretty
You took my breath away
Burning up with passion
Love is not a simple game
All fired up and pretty
You took my breath away
Love like this is forever
It reaches out and comforts me
All fired up, I’m all fired up
And you are just so pretty
All fired up, I’m all fired up
Because you are so pretty
Today be kind to everyone, no matter how much they might annoy you, and remember in a very real and literal way the whole eight billion of us are brothers and sisters under the skin.
Verse 1:
Watching the cars on the highway
Seems the whole world is passing me by
They say things just change so quickly
You got to keep up but you don’t even try
Chorus:
So every day
We laugh and we play
Thinking we’ve learned to be flexible
Maybe it’s me
But I never see
That’s why I’m so skeptical
Verse 2:
Time twists up all our memories
Making us fools who dance to its tune
We all want excuses for failure
But we’ve been judging our failures too soon
Middle 8:
Every time I see the future
Hopelessly twist away from me
Never seems to make much difference
How we act or how we feel
I can only glimpse a pathway
Sometimes it feels quite mystical
That’s the path we should be taking
Maybe that’s why I’m skeptical
Playout:
You can be any thing you like
You can say anything
You can believe in what you want
But I’m just skeptical
You can take all the time you need
You can dance anywhere
You can tell anyone you like
But I’m so skeptical
What do we do as the sun goes down? Do we fret and worry, or do we light some candles and party hard?

Verse 1:
Young kids in the corner
Playing Jacks as the sun goes down
Old guys propping up the bar
Still dreaming of leaving town
Choked up on ambition
Raggedly chasing around
No time for reflection
Waiting as the sun goes down
Chorus:
We spend our lives waiting
As the sun goes down
Resisting all the changes
As the sun goes down
Verse 2:
Old boots on the highway
Of life as the sun moves round
Old light through new windows
Fades out as the sun goes down

Verse 1:
Every time I look outside
The window shows me another life
And every single monotone mind
Won’t understand the colourful kind
Chorus:
Turn around
Walk away from the crowd
Let the words remain unspoken
There’s no point cos we’re all broken
Verse 2:
I saw my friends the other day
Couldn’t think of a thing to say
My whole life feels like a movie
And not the kind where life runs smoothly
Verse 3:
I never listen to a word you say
I wish that you would just go away
If I don’t pick up the phone
Take the hint and leave me alone
The songs on this album were all written about a year ago, but events and distractions have made me a real slow-coach when it comes to making videos and uploading. Because of this I am having trouble remembering exactly why I wrote them! But on reflection, and a re-listen (see what I put myself through for my "Art" LOL - I really really dislike listening to myself!) I guess that what I though when I awoke on January the 1st this year ("So, this is 2024... Feels about the same.") is actually true. Things have been twisted for a while, and I can't honestly tell you I can see any light at the end of this tunnel (not even the headlights of an approaching freight-train).
Verse 1:
A twisted life
Of lies I made
A wounded heart
Battered by the words I said
Chasing dreams
Of growing wings
Co-dependant
On everyone and everything
Pre-Chorus:
The scars grow from our sins
They cover everything
And dreams made up of lies
Are never realised
Chorus:
Times gone by
We used to live
By different rules
With different values for everything
Now we find
Our contract’s made
The rich have needs
And for those needs the poor must surely pay
Verse 2:
A wordless hope
No one can save
A precious light
Behind the curtain hides away
Dreaming lives
Where no one cries
The ruler of
A twist of fate a web of lies
Pre-Chorus:
Confession’s constant twin
Is who we think is listening
Sincere as you might be
You have to still believe
Everybody Bleeds the Same
Lyrics written by Ian Luckett
Verse 1:
I can see the light
That cuts beneath the door
Holding off the night
That wraps around us
Every day a battlefield
Overwhelms the lines we draw
Saying yes to bad things just because
No one gives you anything
Chorus:
It isn’t money
It isn’t fame
That makes the world go up in flames
It’s little acts of desperation
That we don’t really feel as pain
But everybody bleeds the same
Verse 2:
Ways that worked before
With generations keeping score
Are now just breaking
And no one wants to understand it
Changes come so fast
And nothing ever seems to last
So we loose focus on
Who we are and what we want to be
Chorus Repeat:
Middle bit:
There is sky above
But the world’s below
The lights are on
The house is in shadows
A fool is never
Far from truth
But the truths they see
Are seldom proved
If we ignore the pain
Does it go away
Will we live to bleed
Another day
We all bleed the same
Yeah we all bleed the same
Chorus Repeat:

As always I look forward at this time of year to the whispered promise of Springtime, and I hope you are too.
Verse 1:
All of our lives
We’re dreamers
But in all our dreams
We’re seers
And when we wake at last
We can’t remember what we’ve seen
We can’t remember anything
Chorus:
A photograph
Won’t capture anything
If the eyes can’t find a picture
It’s the heart that tries to see
And the truth in every mirror
Never satisfies the need
To be
Everything you wanna be
A record of the words
Can never really do
The same things those words made you feel
When they were said to you
But now the answer finally
Comes slowly into view
And I
Am sending all my love to you
Verse 2:
Out of the air
There’s a feeling
Maybe the future
Is beginning
But will tomorrow give yesterday
The things it’s due
It’s something only you can choose
Verse 1:
Like rainfall on a window
Like Star shine in the sky
Like a hole cut in the ocean
Like a freight train passing by
Like a mind spent with madness
Like the wind that blows the trees
Like the planet spinning slowly
Like the world an infant sees
Stop playing around with things
That you don't understand
Stop shifting the blame you know
It doesn't change a God-Damned thing
Chorus:
Little devils
Running around my brain
It's a jungle in there baby
Did you think that I would still be sane?
Little devils
Running around my brain
Between Heaven and the hole we're in
There's a jungle standing in our way
Verse 2;
Like pleasant Thursday mornings
Like a stranger with a smile
Like sudden recollections
Like all the times gone by
Like mutual understandings
Like things we never say
Like dreams we have as children
Like games we always play
I'm running around with thoughts
That I can't understand
I'm seeing a pattern here
But it doesn't change a God-Damned thing
Chorus repeat...

Messed Up:
Verse 1:
I like your messed up hair
I like the messed up makeup that you wear
I like your messed up mind
I like the way you mess me up at times
Chorus:
We’re all just messed up animals
Chasing our messed up dreams
Living in a messed up carnival
With all the other
With all the other
With all the other
Messed up things
Verse 2:
Things can change
Be rearranged
Some things get messed up
Some stay the same
The hurt inside
May not be told
And all that glisten’s
Is not gold
And we’ve been told
An awful lie
We live to work
We work to die
And I can tell you
From what I see
It’s just a messed up
World to me
Chorus (Play-out: Repeat))
We’re just messed up animals
Chasing our messed up dreams
Living in a messed up carnival
With all the other messed up things
Whether you are celebrating or not this season, and no matter what form your festivities take, I would like to wish everyone a very cool Yule!
To me festivals are way-stations along the journey, and I have always known deep down in my heart that it is a journey "home".
So to all this holiday season I wish for you a wonderful step closer along the way, and may your journey home be a joyous one.
Verse 1:
You said you’d stay
Even when the cold wind blows
You said we’d be together
Through all the winter snows
I thought for now
We’ll see how the morning goes
This really must be something
That the heart just knows
Chorus:
There’s only one thing
You can do when the cold wind blows
There’s only one emotion
You need when the cold wind blows
Verse 2:
We watched the seasons turning
We braved the Winter snows
You are my only comfort
When the cold wind blows
Chorus:
There’s only one thing
You can do when the cold wind blows
There’s only one emotion
You need when the cold wind blows
I remember
Your love when the cold wind blows
The gift of shelter
When the cold wind blows
Verse 3:
I can say you kept your promises
You’re here when the cold wind blows
We made our own forever
Safe from the Winter snow

Yesterdays' Man
Lyrics:
Verse 1:
All around me
They’re fighting in the street
Everyday
Another army bleeds
Chorus:
Holding on
For yesterdays' man
Don’t surrender your dreams
Like Yesterdays' man
Verse 2:
I hear screaming
And maybe it’s just me
Cover my eyes
Cos I don’t want to see
Talking to strangers
Makes me behold
Something that’s different
From everything that I’ve been told
Chorus Repeat:
Verse 3:
Trust and harmony
Are where we need to be
Stop resenting
And let your neighbours be
That’s alright I guess
And maybe you’d agree
Unless you figure you can profit
From other people’s need

Black Sheep:
Verse 1:
It’s kind of grey outside
And I can hear the cars passing by
And then the rain comes down
And I’m waiting for a sign
Chorus:
Always swimming
In the rough tides
Always hanging
On the fast rides
Always singing
In my own voice
Always chasing down
My own choice
Verse 2:
And in the brittle light
I wonder what I really feel
Cos when the air tastes dry
It’s just the static that the storm conceals
Middle bit #1:
Turn out the light and find the shade
Give Moonie his flowers Jade…
Sorry state that we are in
Always counting on our sins
Chorus:
Always swimming
In the rough tides
Always hanging
Out on the fast rides
Always singing
In my own voice
Always chasing down
My own choice
Verse 3:
And though the days are long
All our work just makes our arms strong
It is the rich man’s role
To make an army he thinks he can control
Middle bit #2:
Turn around
But there’s no one there
Flip the switch
And try to make things clear
Twist the tap
And feel your mind explode
Stay in line
And do as you are told
Chorus:
Always swimming
In the rough tides
Always hanging
Out on the fast rides
Always singing
In my own voice
Always chasing down
My own choice
Yes, it is self-indulgent, and yes I used a number of formulaic tricks in its arrangement that I like to experiment with. Yes it is somewhat downbeat and even slightly depressing, but I guess, in the end, it is very true that songs are "released", or set free, when they decide it is time, and we, the poor saps who simply compose them have little or nothing to do with it. (Discuss!)
Verse 1:
Tell me something
No one’s said before
Show me somewhere
That I’ve never seen
Play me a song
That I’ve never heard
Please me and tease me
And make me remember
Chorus:
And if tomorrow’s just the same
Please try to change
Just a little thing
And I am hoping that someone
Can come and rescue me
Cos I can’t
Cos I can’t turn the page
Verse 2:
Keep your secrets
I don’t want to know them
Give me some justice
That makes this all worthwhile
Tell me a story
That shows a better world
Ease me and please me
And help me to be there
Chorus:
And if tomorrow’s just the same
Please try to change
Just a little thing
And I am hoping that someone
Can come and rescue me
Cos I can’t
Cos I can’t turn the page
Verse 3:
Give me something
That I never had
Make me believe it
Like I ever could
Tell me something
Help me understand
Keep me release
But help me remember
Chorus:
And if tomorrow’s just the same
Please try to change
Just a little thing
And I am hoping that someone
Can come and rescue me
Cos I can’t
Cos I can’t turn the page

We may have had a nice long Summer vacation, but none of us could deny you all a Time-honoured tradition. Get out your glad-rags, and polish up the old surf-boards. Summer is here again - Let’s rock!
(The "Lyrics" bit):
Verse 1:
We got mainstream aspirations
From our tiny little niche
We got quiet desperation
And all things in-between
Chorus:
Lay some love on me and shine across the sky
We can make it real as long as we both try
Wrap your arms around me, I can’t tell you why
But everything gets hotter every Summer-time
Post Chorus:
Quick march in summer-time
See if we can feel
10 million yards of carpet
Just to keep things real
Take a ride across
The never ending skies
Verse 2:
We keep moving like we mean it
In the green-screen of our lives
Takes time sometimes to realise
Not everybody thrives
Well I don’t want you listening
If you don’t want to hear
And I can’t find it in myself
To care if you are near
Chorus:
Lay that love on me and shine across the sky
We can make it real as long as we both try
Wrap your arms around me, I can’t tell you why
But everything gets hotter every Summer-time
Post Chorus 2:
I loose myself
Every single year
I loose myself
Every single year
Plays games with us and just because
None of us are here
Sunlight fades away
Every single day
Challenging our view of things
And takes our light away
I can think of you
And keep my blues at bay
But I think happiness
Is more than just a state of play
Post Chorus 3:
Take me now
Take me back to where I want to be
Hold me now
I’m really not that hard to please
Take your magic carpet
Fly across he sky
Make my dreams come true
And make me hot in Summer-Time
Times they like to change
And nothing stays the same
But we all like to feel
Today's like yesterday
Keep believing lies
Till everybody dies
Till everybody takes the fall
For those who made us loose it all
Ah Well
No one lives on rainbows
Clouds don't magically appear
And we don't
Always do the right thing
That's what brings the chaos here
Hope that never fades
Gets pushed towards an early grave
By living lives
Designed to make us spend our time
Fighting for a prize
That's woven out of faith and lies
And just what would you sacrifice
To give you children better lives
Ah Well
No one lives on rainbows
Clouds don't magically appear
And we don't
Always do the right things
That's what brings the darkness here
It's not what we say
It's how we say it
And it's not what we play
Just how we play it
Chorus:
All alone
We must face
Our inner demons
Our own disgrace
The constant is
That we are always right here in place
The rest of everything
Are just the dreams that we create
Verse 2:
It's trusted and true
You're not gonna break it
And if love pulls us through
You know we can make it
Verse 3:
There'll come a day
When we can face it
All our darkest corners
Our constant failings
Verse 1:
What do you call it
When the day feels like yesterday
Written in anger
And in pain
I need some shelter
I need a raincoat all the time
Isn’t regret
The road to chains
Chorus:
I see an Angel
Dancing in the rain
I give Creation
Its due
I see an Angel
And I swear to you it’s true
I see an Angel
In You
Verse 2:
I’m gonna sit here
Watch the world go rolling by
Rolling like thunder
With no change
I know you’re feeling
I know confusion’s making sense
I know that speaking
Make you nervous
Verse 3:
How do you like it
Forgiving bad behaviour
Always rewarding
What is wrong
Taking for granted
How it’s always been the same
Taught that your feelings
Bring you shame
I have not yet truly worked out how I feel about this song. It was written originally on an acoustic, and I played it live a few times before committing it to a recording. The words were a lot slower in manifesting than usual for me, and I had to actually think about them quite a bit!! No matter how I tried the central image of a Nightmare, that seems to be everywhere I look, yet has still not reduced us all to ash yet, kept coming back to me. I would advise against watching any mainstream news right now, it is simply too depressing, for more reasons than the terrifying things they are showing us.
My apologies to anyone looking for uplifting and cheerful today. I am afraid you may all have to wait for the next song, which I promise will be less stressful.
Verse 1:
In the rear-view mirror
Where we all can see
The things we struggled with
So clearly
And if the future is
How we think it’ll be
We’ll need to see both directions
To know what to believe
Chorus:
I hear a voice
Speaking to me
Telling me things
I don’t want to believe
And I want to scream
When I look around me
Cos it’s not a dream
It’s a nightmare I see
Verse 2:
So in hindsight I say
That we have made mistakes
And now’s the time to face them
Before everything just breaks
Be forward looking
You’ll know the ones
Who see profit as better
Than never dropping bombs
Verse 3:
Pull your eyes from the mirror
Watch the road ahead
Recognise how selfish
To think we’re better of dead
It’s a world of scammers
Think it’s all a game
Think they can still win
They are just insane
This year I celebrate 33 years of marriage to mine. The easiest, and best, decision I ever made was to fall in love with her, and my most extraordinary good fortune is that she appears to love me too!
Verse 1
The clouds are forming
Shut out the light
Bring on the darkness
Begin the night
And we are falling
Into collapse
With no direction
With no clear path
Chorus
You are the lighthouse
You are my guide
You help me find
Myself inside
You are the shelter
From every storm
You are the lighthouse
You are the lighthouse
Verse 2
I pray we have
An ounce of silent
Another kiss
To pause the moment
I need the light
That you are shinning
To guide me home
My silver lining
In case any might be wondering the title of this song, and the lyrics in general, IS NOT a reflection of any circumstance in my private life LOL, just a reflection on the world.
Verse 1:
I can feel like
My head is aching
And I can see that even now
You’re slowly waking
Chorus 1:
From the corner of my eye
I see you’re faking
I hate to contradict you now
But my heart is breaking
Verse 2:
You just said that
You feel like crying
I can wrap you in my arms
We can’t stop trying
Chorus 2:
There’s a place where we will find
No room for lying
So I hate to interrupt you now
But my heart is dying
Verse 3:
In times like these
When faith’s a token
Every obstacle we face
Just leaves us broken
Chorus 3:
I’ve been thinking all my life
You must be joking
And I hate to disbelieve you now
But my heart is broken
So I hate to disregard you now
But my heart is Broken
I have to thank Carlos (Tremor Bear) for trusting me to put suitable lyrics and vocal melodies to his song. I have not known Carlos for too long, but in that time he has been an increasingly inspirational man and musician.
When Carlos sent me his initial track I found the pace and flavour made me feel a kind of intrigue, almost a desperation to understand something. He had the title "Losing Her" and had written the song to reflect his own feelings about something that we might all find resonates with us. That is his story to tell, but I wrote the lyrics to have the same sense of urgency and desperation, that I heard in the music.
I hope I did justice to the concept, and I hope you will all agree that Tremor Bear is one hell of a musician.
Losing Her:
Verse 1
Remember Summer days
Remember being crazy
Remember all the things we said
And everything we did
Remember all the promises we made
Chorus 1
I can stand the pain
But I can’t stand losing her
And I can tell the tale
But I can’t stand losing her
And I can’t give you more
Cos I can’t stand losing her
Pick me off the floor
Cos I can’t stand loosing her
No more
Verse 2
Remember broken dreams
Remember hearts that screamed
Remember wishing I was dead
And all the things you said
Remember that and keep it in your head
Chorus 2
I can stand the pain
But I can’t stand losing her
And I can tell the tale
But I can’t stand losing her
And I can’t give you more
Cos I can’t stand losing her
No more
No I can’t stand losing her no more

Verse 1:
All our parents soldiered on
Suffering in silence
Wailing out their songs
Always righting every wrong
They won each day
With every kind of pain
Did they win us all your freedoms
Just so we could throw them all away?
Chorus:
Shadows
Shadows on the wall
Do you think
Do you think they saw their children fall?
Shadows
Shadows on the wall
Did their vaporising eyes register surprise
Do you think that they felt anything at all
Verse 2:
We’ve suffered tyrants
But we endured
We’ve shed our blood
Upon their swords
We’ve lived through years
When life was lean
Wading through the shit that life has thrown us in
But it’s up to us, it always has been
Has anyone noticed how utterly insane the world is becoming? I mean it's been on the watch list for chronically depressed and vulnerable for generations now, but recently? Is it me? Am I just getting jaded and cynical? Or does it really seem as though the most important thing on everyone's mind is how things "appear"; their "face". Short-term only, and don't make me think of consequences?
Is that what we were always destined to become? A bunch of children in the playground who are so entranced by shinny things they may as well have been born a Blackbird?
Usually I might suggest we wait and see, but for the life of me I don't think we have that much time left to spend pondering.
Verse 1
I’m not the one
Who makes sense of everything
It’s not a world
Where bad things stop and just give in
There’s something wrong
Inside each and everyone
And who can say
Which direction we have gone
Chorus
It’s not really nothing
If all we do is cry
It’s not really nothing
If we never try
It’s not really nothing
If we never change a thing
It’s not really nothing
If we never win
Verse 2
There was a time
When everything seemed quite alright
We all had feelings
They made us smile, they made us fight
That was a world
Where everyone could make the choice
To sit in silence
Or to find their voice
Verse 3
How will you feel
If all the good things slip away
If we keep falling
Who’ll repair all our mistakes
You could have stood
Even if they knocked you down
You could have screamed
Instead you never made a sound
In the end, however, it is the seemingly miraculous good fortune, that some small part of me cannot believe I deserve, which drives me to wake each day hopeful, happy, and alert to the many possibilities life throws at me.
This is a song about things like this. It isn't sophisticated, nor conniving; it isn't a validation, nor a cry to be understood. It simply is.
I hope it resonates with you.

VERSE 1:
I may have made mistakes at times
But never such appalling crimes
As those you seem to think a man like me might own
I may have hurt you, well I just don’t know
CHORUS:
I see it in the light of day
I hear it in the words you say
I taste it in the air I breathe (yeah, yeah, yeah)
And it’s everything that I’ll ever need
VERSE 2:
Well we all make mistakes it’s true
But that’s the only way that anybody grows
Put all your fortunes into pain
Build the walls so high that no one know we’re all the same
CHORUS:
I see it in the light of day
I hear it in the words you say
I taste it in the air I breathe (yeah, yeah, yeah)
And it’s everything that I’ll ever need
It’s everything I’ll ever need (yeah, yeah, yeah)
It’s everything I’ll ever need
So I played a Schecter, does that count as Metal enough?
And an Ibanez Short-Scale Bass, does that count?
I programmed the drums using a "Heavy" kit, and watched plenty of YouTube videos on how to get perfect Metal Drum Sounds, does that count?
I got all dressed up for the video, I guess that doesn't count, but I should get some points for effort surely?
I sang in three registers, from contralto-baritone to falsetto, and tried to scream a bit, does that count?
I wrote in 132 B.P.M., in the key of E (mostly), and tried not to do "Blues" progressions, whilst pretending to be influenced by early Baroque composers, and George Gershwin, does that count?
I watched every Metallica documentary I could find, and then watched a whole load of Nicki Tedesco videos, and some Ed B Metal, Some Hetriani (quite a bit of those two actually), I even watched at least seven hours worth of Spectre Sound Studios vids (I agree with everything he said 110%, except the bits I didn't - which, to be honest, was pretty much just the bits about colour schemes, and Bassists), does any of that count?
Or is it still like discovering Abba have done a Metal track, and even though it's pretty catchy, you can't quite imagine Agnetha and Anni-Frid, in the Mosh-Pit?

VERSE 1:
This is our world
We all live here
Who else can we blame
If it gets broken
CHORUS:
We only see w hat we wanna see
We only hear what we wanna hear
We only taste what we wanna taste
We only feel what we wanna feel
We only know what we wanna know
We’ll only grow if we wanna grow
We only dance if we wanna dance
We only sense what we wanna sense
VERSE 2:
Time and time again
We get distracted
What you sense is all you know
Changing patterns
This is my life
I just live here
So who else can I blame
If it gets broken
VERSE 3:
This is our world
We all live here
Who else can we blame
If it gets broken
This is my life
I just live here
So who else can I blame
If it gets broken

VERSE 1:
I dream of you
And in the dream I see your light
I dream of you
And in my heart I know you’re right
I dream of you
And life begins to be
I dream of you
And the love I feel sets me free
CHORUS:
So many opportunities
In which to put things right
So many moments
To see the light
So when I go to sleep
I dream of you
VERSE 2:
I dream of you
So the waking world looks dull and grey
I dream of you
And it gets more vivid every day

This was our first collab as a duo... About bloody time! That does seem rather bizarre considering we have worked on things together in Hippie's House Band and as two of the three members of The Dead Jazz Society, but we had never, until now, and only in selected YouTube Video Channel for a short time (in comparison with the age of the Universe)!!!
Enjoy.🙂
Oh! and watch until the end.. there is a surprise cameo😉

The Moon is watching
The sky at night
It makes him wonder
Do I go left, do I go right?
It’s just perspective
Which side you’re on
Your left, my right, my friends
My left, your right
My left, your right
You’ll crucify your
Chance to live
Your children’s children
Will curse your names
Our world is never
The way it’s shown
Our dreams forever
Are not our own
Are not our own
Can you see
Can you hear
Can you feel
What is near
Does your heart
Skip a beat
Do you tremble
Falling to your knees
And has your courage
Drained away
Or will you stand
And fight again
Intro:
We all live
In an Electric Universe
We all live
In an Electric Universe
VERSE 1:
You wanna know about perpetual motion
An atom spins for all eternity
Self powered and self sustaining
The smallest part of an electric universe
CHORUS:
We all live
In an Electric Universe
We all live
In an Electric Universe
VERSE 2:
I think the stars will give up their secrets
They sail an ocean of purest energy
In everything and all around us
Every bit of the electric universe

00:07 - "Do You Still Believe?" - Original Song
02:32 - "Hurt" - Cover song
I did two originals and a cover of "Hurt" by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. This video has only one of the originals (possibly a mercy) and slides in just after the first line of the second one I did: "Do You Still Believe?" You can hear the studio version of that song here:

The song was written during a time when everything seemed to be in freefall. Mental health issues are often overlooked, or ridiculed, but those who suffer from them must be understood, rather than condemned.
I find music is both healing and cathartic, and I believe neurology, and psychology, are generally in agreement with me! The pay-off in not expected to be in glory, or riches, it is in the act of composing, performing and listening, it is in the way it changes how we feel and see things.

Verse 1
Last night it was really true
I could feel and I felt new
I could sleep and dream of you
Until the dawn painted my love blue
Chorus
Oh-Oh, oh-oh
Painted my love blue
Oh-oh-oh-wo-oh-oh
Oh-Oh, oh-oh
Painted my love blue
Oh-oh-oh-wo-oh-oh
Verse 2
All my life I have really been
Simply searching for the ones I need
Everything that I need to see
And all the people who help me be
Chorus
Oh-Oh, oh-oh
Oh help me be
Oh-oh-oh-wo-oh-oh
Oh-Oh, oh-oh
Oh help me be
Oh-oh-oh-wo-oh-oh
Verse 3
True believers can never see
Any world but the one they want to see
Anything to make us think it’s true
Until the morning painted our love blue
Chorus
Oh-Oh, oh-oh
Painted our love blue
Oh-oh-oh-wo-oh-oh
Oh-Oh, oh-oh
Painted our love blue
Oh-oh-oh-wo-oh-oh

Verse 1:
I speak to Angels
They don’t tell what to do
I listen carefully
To hear the things I meant to know
I think you’re slipping away from me
The pain of infinite energy
Connections lost to eternity
Everything’s collapsing into me
Chorus:
The blush of youth
That launched every one of your lies
Our simple truth
Betrayed by fractured old eyes
Verse 2:
Your eyes have seen right through me
But I can take the heat
No living memory
Has seen the things that I have seen
I feel the weight of ages
They’re pressing down on me

Verse 1:
Saw a man the other day
Couldn’t figure out his play
His energy was far from me
So all I did was look away
Yeah, I just looked away
Chorus:
Oh yeah, nothing ever simplifies
There’s just, just too much to know
Oh Yeah, totally rejecting truth
Leads to Rebellion of the soul
Oh Yeah, Rebellion of the soul
Verse 2:
Face Down for another Day
Nowhere to hide or run away
The cold heart of destiny
Steals the words we want to say
Verse 3:
We live lives like a candle fallen
In a world that is full of storms
Our Swan-songs always come to soon
A few years and they start to bloom
