Create SPOON RINGS in 3 easy steps!! DIY spoon ring tutorial The Art of Metalsmithing 2023-04-28 | Have you ever made rings out of spoons?? It's much easier than you'd think! Today I will show you how to make spoon rings in three simple steps (plus one bonus step)! There aren't many tools you need to make them - something to cut, like a jeweler's piercing saw frame or large cutters, something to sand, like a hand file or a belt sander and something to bend, for example a ring bending tool that will tackle even thick spoons! As a bonus, you might need something for polishing metal, like polishing papers or a rotary tool/bench polisher, to give your rings a nice, polished look. How I use my ROLLING MILL to make patterns, silver sheet & wires The Art of Metalsmithing 2023-09-26 | Today I'm showing you what I use my ROLLING MILL for! If you're wondering whether this tool would be a good investment for your workshop, then I hope seeing this video will help you decide. I use my rolling mill to recycle my silver scrap and turn it into a silver sheet. Something that helps me save money and work towards more sustainable practices in my workshop. I also use it to turn my round wire into a half round or D-shape wire, which I much more prefer for rings. How to make LONG LINK CHAIN using random objects from your workshop! The Art of Metalsmithing 2023-09-19 | How to make a long link chain?? Can you make it without any special tools, just by using objects from your workshop?? ABSOLUTELY! And today, I will show you how to do just that! :) I hope you enjoy this step by step tutorial on how to make a chain at home!A little disclaimer: I know you can still see solder joints on this chain - that's because in this video I focused on the steps to make the chain, however, if you want, you can totally sand and clean the places where you soldered, so that they aren't visible at all. For that, you can use needle files, sanding papers or sanding attachments for a rotary tool. If you use a rotary tool, please remember to be extra careful and make sure you hold the chain in a way, that the dangly parts won't get caught on the spinning machine (for example a flex shaft). ⭐️ Want to see more tutorials like this? How its made: handcrafting a unique silver turquoise ring! The Art of Metalsmithing 2023-06-13 | Are you a fan of turquoise rings?? It's undoubtedly one of the favourites for many! That's why today I wanted to share with you this design and show you the magical making process of creating this silver turquoise ring. This babe is a statement! It has multiple gemstones, embellishments and an open ring band. I love open rings for two reasons: one, they are flexible with the size, so you can wear the ring on many fingers, not just one. And when your fingers swell during the day, this ring is still comfortable to wear and easy to remove. The other reason is that it looks great! The little space between two parts on the top of the ring makes a beautiful and interesting feature in itself. I've noticed that the ring looks quite large on my hand, but please remember that I have very small hands haha ;) It's a statement piece, but it's not overly big. The size of this ring is 8.75 US, flexible. How I pack my orders - AESTHETIC jewelry packaging ideas for online shop! The Art of Metalsmithing 2023-06-07 | This is how I currently pack my orders! I believe that the right packaging make a huge difference and creates a special and meaningful experience for your customers. Unwrapping an order wrapped like a gift is memorable and special, making your customer extra happy :) I wanted to share with you more ideas for packaging your orders for your small business! Whether you sell online or in person, your beautiful handmade product deserves to be carefully packaged. It's taken a me a while to develop this type of packaging, I've been trying different things and right now this is the packaging I'm the most happy with for my handmade jewellery.- I sell online, so a sturdy, outer box is a must. I want my jewellery to be safe during shipping. - Inside, I wrap the contents of the box in a delicate tissue paper. This type of paper is very easy to recycle and take a lot of space. And I personally thing that it adds a luxurious feeling! - You may think that all of the elements inside must cost a lot of money, but that's not necessarily the case! It depends on where you find your supplies. I found a good printing company that printed my cards (an artwork with care instructions and contact details and business cards/thank you notes. I've designed these cards myself, using Canva, an online graphic website, but you could simply use a beautiful photo of your product or your studio for this.) I've been researching different companies and sites that offer little pouches and brushes for months. I finally found the ones I'm happy with. Same with the polishing cloths. Lots of different types are available online. I found those decorative cards and stickers in my local stationary shop. - Jewellery boxes. I still order mine from WestPack (based in Denmark I believe, ships worldwide). They print your logo on the boxes for free.- Handmade fabric ribbon, I love making them while watching movies, it's very relaxing.- Custom wax seal stamp with logo - I found a seller on Etsy that made my custom stamp. There's plenty available. - Do I put boxes in anything else? Not at the moment. Currently, I use a solid paper tape to seal the boxes for shipping and I attach a shipping label on the box. AI designed jewelry and challenged me to MAKE it! The Art of Metalsmithing 2023-05-23 | Disclaimer - I see that this needs to be said. I haven't used AI to design my jewellery before and I don't plan on using it in the future, all designs are my own. This video is meant for presentation and educational purposes, to show AI's capabilities and discuss it. It does not reflect my actual process, which can be seen in all of my other videos and on my social media. I've always been transparent and honest when it comes to my work, both educational and my jewellery. Making this video is part of that transparency, as I believe many subjects are worth discussing. I don't think that pretending AI is just evil and doesn't exist is a wise way to approach this, so instead of choosing ignorance, I'm coming into this with curiosity. Hence this experiment, which I did to show you what these programs can do. And how much depends on us, THE USERS, what results we get from it. And what we do with these results in the next step. My enthusiasm is based on the fact that I find technology impressive and AI, which is developed by humans, is impressive. I'm neither loving is nor am I totally against it. Just like with electricity and internet, when they were first introduced, this may seem scary for some and I completely understand it. However, I encourage you to be open minded and learn about these tools and solutions. Simply knowing how they work doesn't make you complicit in other people's wrongdoings.I believe it's a tool, that when used correctly and mindfully will be useful and helpful. Most importantly, we need necessary REGULATIONS, for example, a way for artists to opt out of the pool from which AI gets its data to generate results. It should not use paid work of artists and creators, period.
