Check out Terri's blog www.synergieskin.com/terris-blogHow to clean your makeup brushes | Terris tipsSynergie Skin2015-10-05 | It is so important to make sure you are regularly keeping your brushes clean! This is particularly important for those with oily, congested and acneic skin.
If you don't have time to wash, don't forget you can also use a brush cleaning spray as a spot treatment.
Rule of thumb: Clean once a fortnight for liquid and cream product brushes and once every three weeks for powder brushes.
Link to Synergie's natural Cosmetic Brush Cleaner: www.synergieskin.com/products/cosmetic-brush-cleanerSerums vs Moisturisers, what is the difference?Synergie Skin2015-08-04 | Terri Vinson, founder and formulator of Synergie Skin discusses the difference between serums and moisturisers.
Serums are what you are looking for as your primary cosmeceuticals. Serums are concentrated products containing cosmeceuticals that have specific actions on the skin. Typically, they should be delivering high levels of active ingredients directly to the skin cells without breaking down before delivering their action on the skin. They are designed to be applied before moisturising.
Serums are often more expensive than moisturisers. This is because quality serums should offer higher value per ml versus moisturisers. They should contain concentrated levels of actives and are generally applied sparingly as the formulation should provide greater spreadability compared to moisturisers.
Moisturisers generally act by offering broad hydrating properties. Although moisturisers contain emollients that hydrate the skin by preventing moisture loss, they may often contain additional active ingredients that can work in synergy with the partner serums.
Think of it as a cake, the serums contains the main ingredients and the moisturiser is the icing that locks them in, and prevents loss of moisture!
1. CLEANSE Cleanse the face with UltraCleanse, rinse and use x-foliating cloth to remove all traces of surface impurities and makeup. 2. SERUM Combine Pure C crystals with SuperSerum ( 1 part crystals: 4-5 parts SuperSerum) 3. Apply Revitaleyes, dabbing around the eye area 4. Roll the face with Rejuvaderm home roller to increase the penetration of active serums 5. MOISTURISE: Apply one pump of Reclaim antiageing moisturiser all over the face 6. PROTECT: Dont forget to apply a sunscreen product! I like to use Synergie Minerals makeup that contains over 50% zinc oxide and titanium dioxide for broad UVA/ UVB sun protection.
1. Apply MineralWhip (I use cappucino) with Synergie MaxiBrush 2. Set with a light layer of Second Skin Crush loose minerals. 3. Apply Eyebrite under eyes with concealer brush and pat to blend 4. Eyedration eyeshadows: Vanilla bean, Peach nectar, Taupe using the Synergie Eyeshadow Base brush 5. Using the dual eyeliner kit (angle end), I shape my brows and fill using some powder from Eyedration taupe. 6. Use Magnifeye in chocolate to line the top and bottom of the line. Follow close the lashes. 7. HydroBlush in Peachy Keen with the Synergie Blush brush 8. Add a bit of colour and sculpt using HydroBronze 9. Highlight the high points of the face using Luminiser 10. Apply one layer of mascara, blowdry (cold setting) and then apply the second layer 11. Line the lips with PoutPot in deep rose 12. Add some colour to the lips- I like to use FantaC lipstick, blot 13. Sheer gloss for some shine to the lips 14. Set the look with Hydromatt setting powder

Protect your skin with SynergieSynergie Skin2015-07-10 | Even on a cloudy day, your skin can be exposed to up to damaging UVA rays so remember your physical sunblock! Sunscreens containing natural zinc oxide not only slow the ageing process but they act as a barrier, shielding your skin from the harsh UVA/B rays which damage skin cells.
I am concerned that consumers are not aware of the difference between physical and chemical sunscreens. Chemical sunscreens absorb into the skin and act by absorbing UV light. They are later broken down in the body and carried in the bloodstream where the by products may be stored in the body. Physical sunscreens sit on top of the skin. They are not absorbed and they provide a protective barrier to UV light. There has been evidence that many chemical sunscreens may be harmful and have been linked to hormonal imbalances.
Any sunscreen is better than none at all but given the choice my advice is to opt for physical sunscreen in the form of zinc oxide – a natural mineral that blocks harmful UVA and UVB rays.
